U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Ruby Dority

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Ruby C. Dority, 87, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Albion, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at the Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Services are pending at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Wendolyn Iverson

ALBION -- Wendolyn I. Iverson, 84, of Albion died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Albion. The Rev. Terry Otto will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Mrs. Iverson was born June 12, 1914, in Norfolk to David W. and Evelyn Anderson Peterson. She received her education in Humphrey and graduated from Humphrey High School.

She married Arnold Iverson on April 16, 1939, in Humphrey. They lived in the Newman Grove area and then moved to Albion in 1948. They lived on several farms there until 1984, when they moved to town.

Mrs. Iverson worked as a housewife on the farm, and she also was a cook for the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center, sold beauty products and worked at the Recreation Center in Albion.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albion, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of a neighborhood club and the Methodist Women.

Survivors include her daughter Karen Conrad of Roca; two sons, W. Lynn Iverson of Albion and Alan Iverson of Broken Bow; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wava Staab of Omaha and Audrey Long of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Iverson; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Levi Lindekugel

GIBBON -- Levi A. Lindekugel, 9, of rural Gibbon died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at his home after a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Faith United Church in Gibbon. Pastor Peter Chang and Brother John Bartelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 9240 Lakota Road, in rural Gibbon.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the Rainbow House, 7815 Harney St., Omaha, 68114. Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon/Shelton is in charge of arrangements.

Levi was born Oct. 10, 1989, in Kearney to John and Gail (Manchester) Lindekugel. They lived in Kearney before moving to rural Gibbon.

Levi was a member of the Gibbon Public School third grade class and belonged to the Bethel Methodist Church.

He was an avid rodeo and country music fan, and collected Beanie Babies.

Survivors include his parents of rural Gibbon; two brothers, Kealan and Tristan; and a sister, Schyler at home; grandparents, Ray and Alice Lindekugel of Imperial, and Gloria Manchester of LaVista; and a great-grandfather, August Lindekugel of Hayes Center.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather; paternal great-grandmother; and maternal great-grandparents.

Oliva Rolli

ANSELMO -- Oliva T. Rolli, 88, of Anselmo died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at the Heritage Hall in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anselm's Catholic Church in Anselmo. The Rev. Mark Maresh will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Anselm's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Miss Rolli was born Oct. 2, 1910, to Dominic and Mary (Lepant) Rolli on a farm south of Anselmo. She grew up and received her education in the Anselmo area, and graduated from Anselmo High School. She later attended the University of Nebraska School of Music, the school of commerce and teachers college.

She later taught at Hoosier Valley School, Linscott School, Comstock School and Oconto School.

She operated a filling station and cafe for many years.

Miss Rolli was a board member and secretary for the Anselmo Co-op Bank, a member of the St. Anselm's Catholic Church, Does Lodge and Anselmo Women's Federated Club.

Her hobbies were composing music, amateur radio, sewing, canning and collecting recipes. She also enjoyed farming and ranching.

Eva Bahensky

ST. PAUL -- Eva M. Bahensky, 87, of St. Paul died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. Ellen Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in St. Paul.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul EMTs.

Mrs. Bahensky was born May 11, 1911, to Richard and Emma (Berney) Grossart at Wolbach. She grew up in Wolbach and attended Wolbach schools from which she graduated. She then worked for the Wolbach Creamery and Wolbach Telephone Co.

She married Raymond Bahensky on Jan. 23, 1928, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Gage Valley area east of St. Paul. They also operated the Midway gas station and cafe southeast of St. Paul until 1932. They also operated a hatchery business in McCook.

The family lived briefly in California, then returned to the Gage Valley area in fall 1939. They operated a truck garden, raising vegetables for sale with three acres of tomatoes and 40 acres of potatoes. They farmed in the Gage Valley area again in 1941. They moved to St. Paul in the 1960s and continued to farm until 1976, when they retired. For many years, they owned and operated St. Paul Liquor. Mr. Bahensky died on Nov. 28, 1997.

She enjoyed playing bridge, crossword puzzles, making hook-latch rugs, walking and playing cards with friends.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul and the church circle, American Legion Auxiliary in St. Paul and Gage Valley Extension Club. She also served on the election board for many years.

Survivors include three sons, Richard and Gene, both of St. Paul, and Dan of Kearney; one daughter, Judy (Mrs. Ellis) Rall of Littleton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Glen and one sister, Erma McLain.

Florine Kelly

AURORA -- Florine Kelly, 95, of Aurora died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Higby Mortuary chapel in Aurora. The Rev. Jay Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

Mrs. Kelly was born Aug. 13, 1903, to Orville and Grace (Grimes) Williams at Pittsfield, Ill. She grew up in Hamilton County, attended rural schools and Aurora High School. She attended Grand Island Business School and worked as a clerk in a general store.

She married Everett Kelly on Oct. 14, 1931, at Lincoln. He was a tool-and-die maker and they lived in Aurora, Lincoln and Kansas City, Mo. They retired in 1981 and returned to Aurora. She entered Memorial Community Care in Aurora in September 1995.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Aurora.

Survivors include her husband; one brother, Orville Williams of Chadron and one sister, Mary Peetzke of Hampton.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Merlon and Hayward Williams and two sisters, Lucille Sautters and Leona Stewart.

Marvin McAfee

FULLERTON -- Marvin McAfee, 80, of Fullerton died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Litzenberg Long Term Care Center in Central City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Jim Howland will officiate. Burial will be in Fullerton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church and Fullerton Senior Center.

Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McAfee was born Jan. 30, 1919, to Dale and Agnes (Rolf) McAfee at Fullerton. He grew up in the Fullerton/Belgrade area and graduated from Belgrade High School in 1935.

He married Mary Loftus on July 20, 1940, at Columbus. They lived in Iowa for one year and returned to Fullerton in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1945. He worked at the creamery in Fullerton, hauling cream and eggs, then became co-owner of a local bulk milk hauling truck company. He served as Nance County Clerk for 23 years, retiring in 1990. Mrs. McAfee died in 1998.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Masonic Lodge, V.F.W. and American Legion Post No. 151, all in Fullerton.

He was appointed an admiral in the Great Nebraska Navy and named to Who's Who in Government. He served on the Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging Council and Fullerton Area Senior Center board and was active in the center's organization.

He enjoyed golf, political activities, reading and flower gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Mrs. Darrell) Smith of Sterling, Colo. and Carol (Mrs. Kevin) Kacer of Ochopee, Fla.; two grandchildren; one brother, Glenn of Fullerton and three sisters, Eileen (Mrs. Leo) Redler of Albion, Pauline (Mrs. Maylon) LeMasters of Escondido, Calif. and Lois (Mrs. Elmer) Belitz of Fullerton.
