Virginia Holmes
ANSLEY -- Virginia Maude Holmes, 80, of Ansley died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Holmes was cremated. An informal gather for family and friends will be held from 9:430 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Ansley. Private burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church in Ansley.
Mrs. Holmes was born Dec. 26, 1918, in Hamilton County to Harry and Sarah (Myers) Cox. She graduated from Ansley High School in 1935.
On March 16, 1919, she married
Kenneth C. Holmes. Thyey lived in Ansley all of their married
life. Mrs. Holmes was a longtime employee of Custer Federal Savings and Loan in Broken Bow. Mr. Holmes died Oct. 31, 1992.
Mrs. Holmes was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ansley, Past Noble Grande and Rebekah Lodge and Post Worthy Matron of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Stella (Mrs. Larry) Amsberry of Grand Island and Julia (Mrs. Arthur) Roach of Kearney; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, David; and two brothers, William Cox and Frank Cox.
Leroy Kelsey
WOOD RIVER -- Leroy E. Kelsey, 70, of Wood River died Saturday, May 8, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Mr. Kelsey was cremated. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Grand Island City cemetery with the Rev. George Wheat officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family. Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Kelsey was born on July 1, 1928, in Columbus to Lester and Alene (Miller) Kelsey. He grew up in Columbus and rural Wood River and was educated at a country school near Wood River. He entered the U.S. Air Force on Dec. 4, 1947, and was discharged in April 1952.
He married
Lorita "Rita" Zimmerman on Nov. 19, 1976, at Grand Island. They lived in Alda, Grand Island and Wood River. Mr. Kelsey worked for the Hall County Housing Authority and several grain elevators.
He was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; four stepsons, Tommy Huff of Olathe, Kan., Dennis Huff of Abilene, Texas, Randy Stoppkotte of Alda and Rick Stoppkotte of Greene, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Holt of Wood River and Lori (Mrs. Thomas Jr.) Garrison of Grand Island; 16 step grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Kelsey of Central City.
Martha Klein
ELBA -- Martha E. Klein, 82, of Elba died Monday, May 10, 1999, at Integraged Health Services at Palmer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Elba United Methodist Church. The Rev. Martha Voigt will officite. Burial will be in the Elmwood cemetery at St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Jacobsen Funeral home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Klein was born Sept. 12, 1916, on the family farm near Cotesfield. She was the daughter of Martin and Anna Keller Christensen. She attended rural school near Cotesfield to the tenth grade and grew up there on the family farm.
On March 29, 1939, she married
Chester Klein at Ord. The couple first lived in Cotesfield and later moved to St. Paul. They later moved to Elba. Mr. Klein died in December 1983. She remained living in Elba until January 1998.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Krzycki of Elba, Marcia (Mrs. Ted) Noel of Denver, Colo., and Shirley Stratman of Palmer; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Kuszak; two brothyers, Clarence and Albert Christensen; one sister, Clara Hurt; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Myron Shafer
Myron L. Shafer, 42, of 517 West Ave., died Friday, May 7, 1999, in Hall County.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Butler-Volland Chapel in Hastings. The Rev. Gil E. Karges will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery in rural Hall County.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Leonard Sebesta
ALDA -- Leonard L. Sebesta, 71, of Alda, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Kleine Funeral Home.
Margaret Trimble
KEARNEY -- Margaret C. (Anderson) Trimble, 99, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at Mount Carmel Home where she had lived for the past 4-and-1/2 years.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. The Revs. Dr. Ron Roemmich and Ron Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary and until service time Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Mount Carmel Home or the Gibbon Public Library Foundation. Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Trimble was born April 27, 1900, in Durango, Colo. to Andrew M. and Hulda (Johnson) Anderson. The family moved to the Elm Creek area when she was three years old and she attended rural school near the Williamsburg area, south of Elm Creek.
She married
Albert W. Trimble on Jan. 2, 1918, in Kearney and she lived the rest of her life in the Gibbon, Overton and Kearney area. He died on Nov. 16, 1962.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kearney and was the last surviving Charter Member of the Order of Eastern Star 278 of Overton.
Survivors include seven daughteers, Dorothy Stafford of Riverdale, Virginia Green of Slidell, La., Carol Gearhart of Littleton, Colo., Lois Davis, Evelyn Bloomer and Shirley Stapley, all of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patricia Hemmerling of Gibbon; three sns, Robert Trimble of Kearney, Wayne Trimble of Grand Island and Bruce Trimble of Lake Oswego, Ore.; 37 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Jerry Trimble and two brothers.
Vi Wadzinski
RAVENNA -- Vi Wadzinski, 72, of Ravenna died Monday, May 10, 1999, in Omaha.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna. Christian wake services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church or scholarship fund. Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wadzinski was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Clark County, Wis., to Oscar and Anna (Damrow) Horn. Following her mother's death when she was one year old, she was raised by George and Tillie Poppe. She graduated from high school in Withee, Wis. She attended Eau Claire College for two years and Stevens Point College for two years. She taught elementary school in Wisconsin for 10 years.
She married
LeRoy Wadzinski on June 26, 1948, in Thorp, Wis. They moved to Ravenna in 1966. She was a partner in Ravenna Cheese Company with her husband. They retired in 1982.
Mrs. Wadzinski was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where she taught religious education for 15 years and was a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed crafts, stamping and traveling.
Survivors include her husband of Ravenna; two sons, Terry Wadzinski of York and Dr. Michael Wadzinski of Sioux City, Iowa; four daughters, Sue (Mrs. Bill) Dworak of Coralville, Iowa, Judy (Mrs. Terry) McInroy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Deb (Mrs. Mark) Huber of Omaha and Lori Wadzinski of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; a brother, Kenneth Horn of Willard, Wis.; three sisters Arlene Anske of Sun City, Ariz., Maybin Hendrickson of Marshfield, Wis., and Helen Bogsted of Suring, Wis.; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two grandsons.
