Lowell Ginn
LINCOLN -- Lowell "Bruce" Ginn of Lincoln, formerly of the Hastings area, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, in Lincoln.
Services are pending with Kleine Funeral Home.
Survivors include five brothers Lynn, Lyle and Leon Ginn, all of Trumbull, Larry Ginn of Deshler and Roy Gene Lyons of Mount Rose, Kan.; and one sister, Lyla (Mrs. Jon) Kruse of Kansas City, Kan.
Christopher Reinke
SMITHFIELD -- Christopher Allen Reinke, 20, of Smithfield died Saturday, May 8, 1999, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington following an illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Albion with the Rev. Terry Otto officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mr. Reinke was born on May 16, 1978, at Albion to Loren Leroy and Gloria (Schilousky) Reinke. He later moved with his family to Indianola. He attended Beaver Valley School in Lebanon. He began high school in Bertrand and graduated from Wilcox High School in 1997. He especially enjoyed his high school journalism classes. He also helped at the Phelps County Museum while in school.
Survivors include his parents, of Smithfield; a brother, Les Reinke of Kearney; and four sisters, Billie (Mrs. Matt) Trejo of Cozad, Dawn Reinke, Tonya Reinke and Laurie Reinke, all of Smithfield.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Reinke in 1983; and his grandparents, Jeanette and Robert Schilousky Sr. and Margaret and Omer Reinke.
Richard Nollett
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Richard Leon Nollett of Fort Collins, Colo., died at birth May 1,, 1999, at Fort Collins, Colo., to Jeremey and Tarasha (Golden) Nollett.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Allnutt Funeral Service/Drake Road Chapel. The Rev. Mike Lundgren will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Rose Koller of Fort Collins, Colo., Paula Golden of Grand Island and Jack Nollett of Cheyenne, Wyo.; great-grandparents, Aletha Abhowell of Ansley; John Golden of Grand Island, Stanley and Mary Ellen Wright of Grand Island and Walt and Mary Babcock of Greeley, Colo.; and great-great-grandmother, Hazel Mott of Ansley.
Mary Morris
Mary K. Morris, 91, of Grand Island, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at Sterling House Assisted Living of Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Morris was born July 24, 1907, in Columbus to Arthur and Rose (Gregorius) Scott Sr. She began her education in the Columbus Public Schools and later moved to Grand Island where she completed her education and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1926. She furthered her education at Ward Belmont College in Nashville from 1926 to 1927.
She married
George W. Morris on Oct. 6, 1928, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island. In 1942, they moved to Fremont where she worked for Montgomery Ward Co. and later began working for Schweser's in the fashions department.
In 1955, they moved to Denver and in 1965 they returned to Fremont. In 1968, they moved to Grand Island and she worked for Schweser's in the fashions department and remained in that capacity until she retired in 1987 after 25 years.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and served on the St. Stephens Vestry as a Junior Warden. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter C.K., V.F.W Auxiliary Post No. 1347, was a volunteer letter writer since 1978 at the Nebraska Veteran's Home and served at the St. Francis Medical Center as a volunteer.
Survivors include one son, John of Grand Island; three grandsons; and eight great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Mary Ann; one sister, Elizabeth Eldridge; and one brother, A.C. Scott Jr.
Myron Shafer
Myron L. Shafer, 42, of 517 West Ave., died Friday, May 7, 1999, in Hall County.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Butler-Volland Chapel in Hastings. The Rev. Gil E. Karges will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery in rural Hall County.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Shafer was born Feb. 17, 1957, in Hastings to Maurice and Lois (Van Boening) Shafer. He attended District 31 and 67 Adams County Schools. He graduated from Trumbull High School in 1975.
He was employed at Trumbull Co-op, worked in construction, was an electrician and in trucking. He was currently working for Central Non-Stock Co-op.
He was a member of Rosedale United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his mother; one daughter, Tina Shafer of Las Vegas; his fiancée, Theresa Starkey of Grand Island; three sisters, Marilyn Johnson of Doniphan, Judy Dangler of Trumbull and Maureen Wells of Holdrege; and three brothers, Gary, Paul and Clayton, all of Hastings.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Kalen Townsend
Kalen Jon Townsend, nine-month-old son of Cory and Leah Townsend of Grand Island, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at the Mayo/St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Revs. Joel Schroeder and Clay Skurdahl will officiate. Burial will be in the South Logan cemetery in St. Paul at 4 p.m.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Kleine Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Kalen Jon Townsend Memorial Fund.
Kalen was born at St. Francis Medical Center Aug. 7, 1998. He spent 6 1/2 months of his life in three different hospitals -- St. Francis, the Children's Hospital in Omaha and the Mayo/St. Mary's in Rochester, Minn.
Kalen suffered from a severe brain disorder caused by an undiagnosed syndrome.
Kalen was able to spend 2 1/2 months at home with his parents and brother Kasey. Kalen was a loved little boy whose favorite activities were being held, having his head rubbed and holding his hands.
Survivors include his parents; one brother, Kasey; four grandparents, Darold and Ellamae Townsend of St. Paul and Mike and Pat Drexel of Nelson; and three great-grandparents, Arlo and Rita Harris of Greeley, Colo., and Maude Drexel of Lakeland, Fla.
Harriett Carter
GIBBON -- Harriett May Carter, 102, of Gibbon died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Gibbon.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gibbon Faith United Church. The Rev. Barbara Spangler will officiate. Burial will be in the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the Good Samaritan Center.

Mrs. Carter was born Sept. 25, 1896, in Ashland to John W. and Daisy B. (Rager) Kershaw. She was the fourth of 13 children. She grew up and graduated from high school in Silver Creek where her father owned a farm.
She married
A. Wallace Carter in August 1915 in Silver Creek. They had lived in various towns in Nebraska before moving to Gibbon in 1967.
She had held memberships in the Faith United Church of Gibbon and the Eastern Star Lodge.
Survivors include one son, Dale of Las Vegas; one daughter, Maxine McMullen of Gibbon; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons; and two grandchildren.
