Irene Daily
BROKEN BOW -- Irene Mae Daily, 78, of Broken Bow died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Don Schauda will officiate. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Mrs. Daily was born on Dec. 27, 1920, at Anselmo to Claude M. and Pearl I. (Doman) Cooley. She lived in Custer County and later moved with her family to the Paul Van Nest Ranch in Blaine County. She graduated from Brewster High School in 1939.
She married
Steve Daily on July 12, 1940, at Broken Bow, and they lived on a farm near Milburn. She worked as a cook at the Merna schools, a cafe in Anselmo and the Broken Bow Elks Lodge. She moved to Broken Bow in 1969 and worked at Becton Dickinson for 17 years, retiring in December 1985.
She had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Anselmo and the Broken Bow Does.
Survivors include four sons, C.W. Daily of Bullhead City, Ariz., Dan Daily of North Platte, Charles Daily of Vacaville, Calif., and Joe Daily of Pocatello, Idaho; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Viola Anderson of Sandy, Ore., Jeane Thiel of Roseland, Dorothy Yochem of Brewster, Virginia Lewis of Long Pine and Judy Fitch of Halstead, Kan.; and two brothers, Allen Cooley of Anselmo and Paul Cooley of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Wayne Daily; one brother, Clarence Cooley; and one sister, Betty Penny.
Donald Koger
BURWELL -- Donald Dee Koger, 48, of Burwell died Monday, May 3, 1999, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord of an apparent heart attack.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burwell. The Rev. Greg Volzke will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to Erin's College Fund, the Burwell Community Fund in care of Library Improvement or the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.
Mr. Koger was born on May 12, 1950, in Burwell to Everett Dee and Dorothy Marie (Johns) Koger.
He worked for Ron Rowse in the hay field while he was in high school. He graduated from Burwell High School in 1968. He started working in May 1968 at Rowse Rakes, where he was a welder for 31 years.
He married
Linda Svoboda on July 19, 1975, in Burwell. He enjoyed farming with his father.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Erin Koger of Burwell; and his mother, of Burwell.
He was preceded in death by his father.
'Chuck' Schamp
AURORA -- Charles W. "Chuck" Schamp, 47, of Aurora died Friday, April 30, 1999, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Mr. Schamp was cremated. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell. The Rev. Murry Johnston will officiate.
Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Schamp was born on April 11, 1952, in Greeley to Harry and Orvetta (Crumrine) Schamp.
He married
Vicki West on Feb. 22, 1975. They were later divorced.
He married
Patricia Burson on July 3, 1986, in Grand Island. He worked at Monfort in the hides department.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Jonathan Schamp of Grand Island; three stepsons, John Bish, Matthew Bish and Nathan Bish, all of Aurora; two grandchildren; his father, of Ord; one brother, Harry Joseph Schamp of Hay Springs; and two sisters, Sandy Cook of Grand Island and Cathy Schamp of Axtell.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Gertrude Waskowiak
ST. PAUL -- Gertrude Waskowiak, 90, of St. Paul, formerly of Loup City, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Revs. Reginald A. Urban and Michael McDermott will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic cemetery at Ashton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church with a sodality rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Josaphat's or St. Francis Catholic churches.
Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Waskowiak was born on Feb. 17, 1909, on a farm in Howard County near Farwell to Martin and Agnes (Tyma) Krolikowski. The family later moved to a farm in Sherman County. She attended Sherman County District 56 School and St. Francis Parochial School in Ashton.
She married
Andrew Waskowiak on April 26, 1926, in Ashton. The couple farmed in the Schaupps area east of Loup City. They retired and moved into Loup City. Mr. Waskowiak died on Feb. 5, 1995, and Mrs. Waskowiak moved to Heritage Living Center in July 1995.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and playing cards.
Mrs. Waskowiak was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, Rosary Sodality and St. Ann's Quilters.
Survivors include eight daughters, Rita (Mrs. Paul) Gorecki of Farwell, Evelyn Gorecki of St. Paul, Leona Bendykowski of Arcadia, Alta (Mrs. Clemence) Mostek of Loup City, Adeline (Mrs. Reginald) Jonak and Loretta (Mrs. Edward) Hulinsky, both of Ashton, Emily (Mrs. Bill) Gregoski and Jo Ann (Mrs. Bernard) Danczak, both of St. Paul; 43 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Lucille Gawrick of Lincoln, Theresa Woltman of Loup City and Esther Baker of Ashton; and two brothers, Ignatz Krolikowski and Alozy Krolikowski, both of Ashton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Vernie Lubash; and one brother, Victor Krolikowski.
Tami Brundage
GOTHENBURG -- Tami Dee Harders Brundage, 29, of Gothenburg died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. David Fowler officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Pleasant cemetery in Cairo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo. Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Holt International Children's Services or the family's choice.
Arthur Braman
BETTENDORF, Iowa -- Arthur James Braman, 84, of Bettendorf, Iowa, a former longtime Grand Island resident, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center East Campus.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Vianney's Catholic Church in Bettendorf.
Private burial will be in the National cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. There will be a 7 p.m. rosary.
Memorials are suggested to Catholic Charities in Mr. Braman's name.
Mr. Braman was born on Aug. 12, 1914, in St. Edward to Arthur A. and Laura A. (Helgeson) Braman.
He married
Helen Lakmann on June 9, 1945, in Laramie, Wyo. He had been involved with traffic sales for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1980 after 48 years of service.
He was a highly decorated Army veteran of World War II. He achieved the rank of captain and received many citations and distinguished awards, including the Silver Star.
He was a member of St. John Vianney's Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kim Braman of San Diego and Pat (Mrs. Gerry) Dilla of Bettendorf; one son, Brian Braman of Boston; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Irene Crawford and Eileen Millay of San Diego.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
