Carl Lamm
Carl E. Lamm, 92, of Lebensraum Retirement Home died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Edward Lane
Edward T. Lane, 79, of 1518 N. Kimball died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Byron Shafer will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Arcadia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Lane was born on Oct. 25, 1919, in a sod house on a farm in Sherman County near Arcadia. He attended rural school. He farmed with his parents until entering the U.S. Army in March 1942. He served in the 5th Armored Division in Europe, received the Purple Heart and was discharged in 1946.
He married
Della Henderson on June 7, 1948, at Loup City. They lived in Loup City until moving to Grand Island in 1952. He was a line foreman at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. He retired in 1976 due to failing health.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He collected antique cars and was a member of the Fort Kearney Car Club and the Classic Wheels of Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda (Mrs. Larry) Kaslon of Hastings and Kathy (Mrs. Bryan) Matejka of Grand Island; three sons, Dennis, Scott and Douglas, all of Grand Island; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise (Mrs. Roy) Wooden of Loup City.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clinton, during World War II.
Carol Young
Carol J. Young, 60, of Grand Island died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Eric Ford will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
She married
Edgar A. Young on March 17, 1962, at Milbank, S.D.
Cleta Hendricks
BROKEN BOW -- Cleta Faye Hendricks, 94, of Broken Bow died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Cliff Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery at Callaway.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Pioneer Center in Broken Bow.
Mrs. Hendricks was born on July 22, 1904, at Queen City, Mo., to Robert Franklin and Dora Maude (Martin) Boggs. She moved with her family to Oconto in January 1919. They settled on a farm near Lodi, and she attended the Lower Lodi School.
She married
Rollie Hendricks on Feb. 6, 1923. They lived at Lodi for a year and then moved to a farm two miles south of Callaway. They bought a farm eight miles south of Callaway in 1926 and lived there until 1964, when they retired and moved to Broken Bow. Mr. Hendricks died in January 1986.
Mr. and Mrs. Hendricks enjoyed traveling around the United States during their retirement. They spent their winters in Avon Park, Fla., for 16 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, the World War I Ladies Auxiliary Barracks 2376, the Widows of World War I in Broken Bow and the American Legion Auxiliary of Callaway. She had been a charter member of the Callaway HHH Club since 1928.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth of Lexington, Walter of Broken Bow, Orin of Cozad and Richard of Callaway; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mona Jorgensen of Lincoln, Marg (Finley) Shuster of Nyssa, Ore., and Alma van Nortwick of Grand Island.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
Harry Larson
ST. PAUL -- Harry W. Larson, 96, of St. Paul died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at the Howard County Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Larry Leper will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery at St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family or the hospital.

Robert Reimers
ST. PAUL -- Robert L. Reimers, 61, of St. Paul died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are pending with Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul.
George Kontos
SHOW LOW, Ariz. -- George Kontos, 77, of Show Low, Ariz., died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Virginia's Guest Home in Show Low.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Show Low.
A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Rita's.
Mr. Kontos was born on April 16, 1921, at Wahoo to James and Cecelia Kontos. He graduated from Fullerton High School and St. Paul Business College.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 as an aviation radioman during the Okinawa and Philippines battles during World War II. After his return home from military service, he was in business with his father in Fullerton.
He entered the U.S. Postal Service as a railway mail clerk in Omaha in 1948. Mr. Kontos transferred to the Denver regional office, where he became a transportation specialist manager responsible for 15 states. He later was assigned to Arizona to inspect transportation problems at local post offices. He retired in 1980.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; one daughter, Paula of Colorado; one son, Robert of North Carolina; two granddaughters; and a sister-in-law, Mayme Appel of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Jr.
Earl McWilliams Earl E. McWilliams, 73, of Grand Island died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at the Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Services are pending with the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Doris Akerson
AURORA -- Doris Jean Akerson, 74, of Aurora died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Aurora First Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gary Cepek will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mrs. Akerson was born May 28, 1924, at Hampton to Henry and Ella (Rohde) Wandersee. She grew up near Hampton, and attended Lutheran schools and Hampton High School. She was employed at the dry cleaners in Aurora.
She married
Willis Akerson on Oct. 1, 1944, in Hampton. They farmed near Aurora, and later moved into Aurora. Mrs. Akerson entered the Hamilton Manor in 1996 following the death of her husband that same year.
She was a member of the Aurora Evangelical Lutheran Church, the LWMS and Ladies Aid.
She was a district officer in Nebraska Garden Clubs, and belonged to garden clubs in Aurora and Grand Island. She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and she volunteered at the hospitals' thrift shop and the Hamilton County Museum.
She enjoyed gardening, antiques and cooking.
Survivors include her son, Ron of Aurora; two daughters, Barbara Ann Kirchhoff of Dallas, Texas and Marilyn Jean Engstrom of Westerville, Ohio; three sisters, Shirley Reichart of Arlington, Texas, Janice Warren of Phillips and Mary Lou Heckel of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
