Dorothy Stoll
Dorothy Ann Stoll, 81, of Grand Island died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at the St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Stoll was born May 12, 1917, in Grand Island to Charley and Della (McMillen) Perkins. She grew up and received her education in the Grand Island school system, attending Jefferson, Barr and Grand Island Senior High schools.
She married
Clifford L. Stoll on May 25, 1935, in Aurora. The couple lived in Grand Island, where Mrs. Stoll was her husband's bookkeeper for his auto upholstery business. She also worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in building No. 9 for screening TNT for bombs during World War II.
Her other employment included the Fairmont Creamery, Ace Appliance and Skagway Annex for 23 years. She retired in 1985. Mr. Stoll died in 1984.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and was a foster grandparent at the Howard and West Lawn schools.
She loved birds, the outdoors, fishing, pitch and pinochle.
Survivors include her son, Sam of Grand Island; a daughter, Susie Stoll of Grand Island; four granddaughters; twin great-grandsons; and a stepsister, Portia Phelps of Madison, Wis.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepbrother, Delmar Wilcox.
Gerald Thornburg
Gerald Thornburg, 86, of Grand Island died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at St. Francis Skilled Care Unit.
Services are pending with the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Albert Christensen
ST. PAUL -- Albert C. Christensen, 76, of St. Paul died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at his home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Rosalie Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood cemetery at St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the church, Tabitha Hospice or the St. Paul EMT unit.
Mr. Christensen was born Aug. 13, 1923, at Palmer to Martin and Georgia (Brooks) Christensen. He attended Palmer schools and graduated from Palmer High School in 1940. He farmed with his father afterward.
He married
Delores "Jean" Roshone on Nov. 26, 1948, in Mitchell. The couple farmed north of Palmer.
Mr. Christensen graduated from Mason City School of Auctioneering in 1976. In 1984, the couple moved to St. Paul, and he opened the St. Paul Real Estate and Auction Co.
He was a member of the Wolbach Saddle Club, and served on the Palmer school board for 13 years. He also belonged to the St. Paul United Methodist Church serving on the board of trustees and pastor-parish relations board.
He enjoyed auctions and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of St. Paul; three daughters, Loretta (Mrs. Mick) McDowell and Shirley (Mrs. Dennis) Brandt, both of St. Paul, and Connie (Mrs. Ladd) Reeves of Central City; four sisters, Laura Christensen, May Thede, Julia Riley and Leona Sharman, all of Palmer; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Chris.
Lucille Govern
COLUMBUS -- Lucille Rose Govern, 83, of Columbus died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. The Rev. Joseph A. Miksch will officiate. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery in Krakow, rural Genoa.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with a 7 p.m. vigil at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Govern was born May 29, 1915, to Andrew and Anna (Konwinski) Kurek at Albion. She attended school in Nance County. She lived in Nance and Merrick counties most of her life until moving to Columbus. She was a homemaker.
She enjoyed flowers and gardening.
She was a member of St. Isidore Church, Sts. Peter and Paul Altar Society, and served on the election board for Districts 48 and 25.
Survivors include a son, David of Wichita, Kan.; two daughters, Carol (Mrs. Richard) Kula of Silver Creek and JoAnn (Mrs. Jim) Stachura of Omaha; two sisters, Helen Borowiak of Genoa and Clementine (Mrs. Ralph) Chalupka of Schaumburg, Ill.; one brother, Frank Kurek of Silver Creek; 10 grandchildren and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Robert Rahrs
LINCOLN -- Robert C. Rahrs, 52, of Lincoln died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, in Lincoln.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 84th and Pioneers Blvd., in Lincoln.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.

Mr. Rahrs was born Feb. 25, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa.
He was a state of Nebraska employee, a U.S. veteran and active in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).
He attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and leisure sports.
He is survived by his son, Geoff of Vail, Colo.; three daughters, Kristen (Mrs. Kevin) Miller of Lincoln, Lori Rahrs of Omaha and Angela Rahrs of Lincoln; and a special friend, Joyce Pester of Lincoln.
Sharyn Roder
MCCOOL JUNCTION -- Sharyn L. Roder, 60, of McCool Junction died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in McCool Junction. The Rev. Anne Rosenquist will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery east of McCool Junction. Metz Mortuary in York is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested in care of the family.
Mrs. Roder was born July 27, 1938, at Tilden to Ed and Lois (Anson) Meyer.
She married
Derald Roder on Sept. 1, 1953, in Madison. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in McCool Junction.
She is survived by two sons, Gary of Grand Island and Larry of McCool Junction; one daughter, Tammy (Mrs. Pat) Swantek of McCool Junction; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Liveringhouse and Kathleen (Mrs. Jack) Halsey both of Tilden; and special friends, Jim McGowan, Hank McGowan and Annie McGowan, all of McCool Junction.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one brother and one sister.
