Robert Hines Jr.
NORTH PLATTE -- Robert E. Hines Jr., 50, of North Platte died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Ogallala Community Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in North Plate with the Rev. David Lux officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National cemetery south of Maxwell with military honors by the North Platte Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte. Visitation will continue before services Monday at the church.
Mr. Hines was born on Sept. 11, 1948, at Lincoln to Robert E. Sr. and Edna (Poehler) Hines. He grew up in the Grand Island area and graduated from Palmer High School in 1967.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from April 1968 to April 1972. He returned to Grand Island and received his associate of art degree from Grand Island School of Business.
He worked as an accountant for Kelley's Metal and Scrap in Hastings and worked for Ford New Holland and Monfort, both in Grand Island. He then began working for the Union Pacific Railroad and moved to North Platte in 1993. He worked in many different states for Union Pacific.
He married
Donna Jean Heessel on Sept. 13, 1997, in North Platte.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms and the Machinist and Aerospace Union.
Survivors include his wife; one stepson, Nathan Heessel of Austin, Texas; his parents, of Grand Island; two brothers, Glenn of Carpenter, S.D., and Ralph of Omaha; and four sisters, Gloria (Mrs. Jerry) Englehaupt of Springfield, Ore., Betty (Mrs. Robert) Hodge of Hysperia, Mich., Nancy Vara of Grand Island and Carol (Mrs. Ed) Thompson of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Hines.
Thomas West
Thomas L. West, 84, of Grand Island died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Arcle Willis
Arcle L. Willis, 69, of 2103 Grand Island Ave. died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in Richland cemetery at Marquette.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Kleine Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Lydia Ann Wilson
Lydia Ann Wilson, 100, of Grand Island died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Russell will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Wilson was born on Aug. 23, 1898, at rural Shelton to August and Friedricka (Stender) Miller. She grew up and was educated in the Shelton area. She attended the Grand Island Business College.
She lived and worked in California until returning to Grand Island in 1934.
She married
Oscar E. Wilson on Oct. 8, 1953. They owned and operated Wilson Auto Parts. Mr. Wilson died on March 11, 1973.
Mrs. Wilson lived at Lebensraum from December 1992 to May 1998, when she moved to Tiffany Square Care Center.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church; Rebekah Lodge, from which she received her 50-year jewel; and Daughters of the Nile. She was past state president of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriot Militant and a charter member of the Does.
Survivors include cousins and close friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
Rudolph Hanousek
RAVENNA -- Rudolph "Rudy" Hanousek, 68, of Ravenna died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, where he had been a patient for four days.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney. Tom Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery in Cairo.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Mr. Hanousek was born on July 9, 1930, in Poole to Joseph and Martha (Hajek) Hanousek. He was a lifetime resident of the Poole area. He attended rural school near Poole.
He married
Gertrude I. Brundage, and they farmed in the Poole and Ravenna area until November 1998.
He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and was presiding overseer for more than 18 years.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Tammy Hanousek of Lexington; one brother, Fred Hanousek of Shelton; and two sisters, Helen Valentine of Kearney and Marie Pabian of Ravenna.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Hugo Harders
WOOD RIVER -- Hugo Harders, 92, of Wood River died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo. The Rev. Glen Keylon will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo.
Memorials are suggested to the Cairo Quick Response Team.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. Rodney) Rathman of Wood River; two sons, Rodney of Wood River and Richard of Cairo; 14 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Emil, John, Julius, Earnest and Otto; and five sisters, Clara, Hilda, Freida, Edith and Ella.
Audrey Trent
ANSELMO -- Audrey Galena Trent, 80, of Anselmo died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. Bill Webb will officiate. Burial will be in the Custer Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
A memorial has been established to the family.
Mrs. Trent was born on April 29, 1918, at Broken Bow to James Earl Sr. and Nancy (Ditson) Reed. She grew up west of Broken Bow.
She married
George Goffrey Trent on March 26, 1947, at Broken Bow. They lived in the Dunning area, and she operated a cafe in Dunning for many years. They moved to Anselmo in 1991. Mr. Trent died on Aug. 8, 1997.
Survivors include three sons, Samuel of Broken Bow and George III and William, both of Kearney; one daughter, Desolee (Mrs. Dennis) McCormick of Anselmo; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Share of Gordon and Wilma Wright of Halsey; and two brothers, James Reed Jr. of Broken Bow and Harlen Reed of Baraboo, Wis.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Hazel and Violet; one son, Alfred; two grandsons; one brother; and four sisters.
