Clara Parkos
Clara M. Parkos, 80, of Grand Island died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Cemetery, with committal services at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. wake service at St. Leo's Catholic Church.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lawrence Wieck
Lawrence H. Wieck, 84, of Grand Island died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at Lakeview Nursing/Rehab Center of Grand Island.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Wieck of Grand Island; two sons, Alan Wieck of Grand Island and Gary Wieck of Grand Island; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Garbe of Village Lake, Calif. and LaVerna May of Yuma, Ariz.
Dorothy Fenton
WOLBACH -- Dorothy Fenton, 73, of Wolbach died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Visitation in O'Connor. The Revs. Larry Fenton, Walter Phelan and Robert Foster will officiate. Burial will be in the O'Connor Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the Howard County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Fenton was born Sept. 2, 1925, at Spalding to John and Mary (Joyce) McKenzie. She grew up in Greeley County, and attended schools in the area. She graduated from Wolbach High School in 1943. She taught at rural schools in Greeley and Nance counties.
She married
Francis (Fritz) Fenton on May 21, 1946, in O'Connor. The couple farmed near O'Connor, later moving to a farm east of Wolbach until November 1963. They moved back to the O'Connor-Brayton area at that time, and in 1976, moved to Wolbach.
Mrs. Fenton worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island, drove a school bus and worked at New Holland. In 1982, she moved to Davenport and owned and operated a bar/restaurant for several years. In 1985, she moved back to Wolbach and worked part-time at the Wolbach Bar until August 1997.
She enjoyed quilting, decorating and visiting her family and friends.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wolbach.
Survivors include one son, Bill Fenton of Stanton; six daughters, Jean (Mrs. Terry) Peetz of Wolbach, Carol (Mrs. Gary) Page and Sandra Dugan of Grand Island, Arlene (Mrs. Pat) Esch of Springfield, Colo., Jane (Mrs. Lynn) Studley of North Platte and Joyce (Mrs. Jim) Olsen of Farwell; 16 grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline (Mrs. William) Grossart of Grand Island and Phyllis (Mrs. Frank) Dubas of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Jack McKenzie.
Clifford J. Jarzynka, Sr.
HASTINGS -- Clifford J. Jarzynka, Sr., 62, of Hastings, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999 at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brand-Wilson Chapel in Hastings. Father James Meysenburg will officiate. Burial will be in Harvard cemetery in Harvard.
Visitation is from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, and 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the mortuary.
Mr. Jarzynka was born Aug. 26, 1936 at Hazard to Anthony and Antonia (Badura) Jarzynka. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad.
He married
Sharon Duncan on Sept. 11, 1962. He moved to Hastings in 1990.
He was an inventor, played the button accordion and other string instruments, and remodeled houses.
Survivors include his wife of Hastings; daughter, Tamara Buscher of Hastings; three sons, Clifford, Jr. of Russiaville, Ind., Troy of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Travis of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister, Esther Miller of Omaha; three brothers, Roman of Hastings, Charles of North Platte, and Emmett of Cairo; six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers.
Viola Nelson
RAVENNA -- Viola Nelson, 98, of Ravenna died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney. The Rev. Dr. Ron Roemmich will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Utica Cemetery.
The Eastern Star will conduct a rite at that time.
Mrs. Nelson was born March 24, 1900, at Holdrege to George and Lucy (Mills) Marian. She attended schools in Holdrege, and later worked in the telephone office in Holdrege.
She married
Ray Nelson in 1925 in Utica. The couple made their home on the family farm. Mr. Nelson died April 13, 1969.
Mrs. Nelson was active in the Presbyterian church, Eastern Star, Rebekahs and Grange.
She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Ruge (Mrs. Lyle) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a sister, Bernice Lund of Holdrege; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; granddaughter, Becky Wicht; brother, Vernon; and sister, Elsie Larson.
Lucille Sedlacek
PAXTON -- Lucille J. Sedlacek, 84, of Paxton died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999 at her home.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5 at St. Patricks Catholic Church of Paxton. Mass of the Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at St. Patricks Catholic Church. The Rev. James Janovec officiated.
Burial was in the Paxton Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory. Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sedlacek was born Nov. 16, 1914, on a farm north of Paxton to Ellsworth and Isabella Craigie Hogg. She was educated at School District No. 8 and graduated from Paxton High School in 1932. Following graduation, she lived at home and took care of the family.
She married
Frank R. Sedlacek on Feb. 26, 1940, in Paxton. The couple went on to farm southwest of there.
She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She belonged to the Riverview Extension Club and the Willing Workers Extension Club. Her hobbies were sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include three daughters, Gayle (Mrs. William) Roberts of Las Vegas, Nev., Connie (Mrs. Kris) Klitzke of Grand Junction, Colo. and Betty (Mrs. Jerry) Smith of Grand Island; two sons, Dennis Sedlacek of Boulder, Colo. and Robert Sedlacek of Boulder, Colo.; one brother, Harris Hogg of North Platte; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Shawn Eschliman
LEWISVILLE, Texas -- Shawn Jeffrey Eschliman, 18, of Lewisville, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at his home.
Services were Feb. 2 at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home Chapel in Lewisville. The Rev. Mike Johnston officiated. Burial was at the Pierce Chapel in Clarks.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Eschliman was born Oct. 6, 1980, in El Paso, Texas, to Cliff L. and Katherin (Smith) Eschliman, formerly of Grand Island. He was a student at Lewisville High School and was attending Dale Jackson Career Center. He was accepted to Wyoming Tech in Laramie, Wyo. He completed Auto Technology I and II, Automotive Technician II and ASE Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Review and Certification Program at Dale Jackson.
He received awards in auto mechanics storage, student of the month, was a scholarship finalist and won the student assistant award.
He was a lab foreman for auto technology and received a certificate of achievement from Team Valvoline Youth and Education Services, the Skill Olympics and the Marino Challenge for contest VICA and workout.
He enjoyed scuba diving, fishing and other water sports.
Survivors include his parents and one sister, Jennifer (Mrs. Jason) Johnston all of Lewisville.
