Evelyn Quiter
OMAHA -- Evelyn M. Quiter, 89, of Omaha died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at Mercy Care Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion. The Rev. Frank Baumert will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic cemetery in Albion.
A wake will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Quiter was born on Dec. 16, 1909, in Lindsay to Anton and Mary (Gasper) Husemann. She was educated at the Lindsay public schools and graduated from Lindsay High School in 1928. She also attended Wayne State College for two years.
She married
Anthony Quiter on Jan. 2, 1934, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay. They lived in Albion. She was a housewife and homemaker and also sold Avon. Mr. Quiter died in 1967. Mrs. Quiter moved to Omaha in 1976.
Mrs. Quiter was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion and then transferred to St. Peter's Catholic Church in Omaha. She was a member of the Altar Society at St. Michael's.
Survivors include four daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Paul) Foss of Omaha, Joan Hazlitt and Pat Quiter-Pautu of Pasadena, Calif., and Helen Groom of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Husemann of Cody, Wyo.; and two sisters, Annette Cox of Omaha and Helen Hollers of Washington, D.C.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert; and one brother, Mike Husemann.
Betty Coffin
ARVADA, Colo. -- Betty Coffin, 75, of Arvada, Colo., formerly of Fullerton, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at Wheat Ridge, Colo.
Private family services will be conducted. All States Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1923, at Fullerton.
She married
Darwin E. Coffin.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Wellman of Arvada, Colo.; two sons, Larry Coffin of Grand Island and Steve Coffin of Ogallala; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother; and one sister.
Ben Koziol
Ben J. Koziol, 72, of Grand Island, formerly of Fullerton, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. in the Fullerton Catholic cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Wednesday at the church.
Palmer Funeral Home of Fullerton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Koziol was born on June 11, 1926, at Osceola to Leo and Agnes (Gembica) Koziol. He moved with his family at an early age to Fullerton, where he attended country schools and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1944.
He served in the U.S. Navy for two years. He attended Doane College for three years. He then returned to Fullerton, where he farmed.
He married
Genevieve Egnoske on Sept. 18, 1950, at Fullerton. They moved to Grand Island in 1987. He continued to farm at Fullerton. He went to work at St. Francis Medical Center in 1988 and was serving as security supervisor.
He enjoyed farming and was an avid football fan.
He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 151 of Fullerton and the Eagles Club of Fullerton.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Fred and Kevin, both of Fullerton; two daughters, Jane Bergantzel of Fairfield and Becki (Mrs. Troy) Jensen of Lincoln; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Clifford and Edward, both of Fullerton; and five sisters, Cecilia (Mrs. Don) Cheshier of Fremont, Christine Haberer of Hastings, Monica (Mrs. Darrell) Rork of Grand Island, Elenor Santin of Palmer and Evelyn (Mrs. Raymond) 0. Liss of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, Mark; one grandson; and three infant brothers.
Paul Larsen
Paul C. Larsen, 94, of Grand Island died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Memorial Health Center Skilled Care Unit.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church. The Revs. Gretchen Diers and Douglas Stensby will officiate. Mr. Larsen's body was cremated.
There will be no visitation. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Maren Palmer of Temple, Texas; two grandsons; and one brother, Chess Larsen of Detroit.
His wife died in 1998. He also was preceded in death by four sisters.
Wayne Beavers
KEARNEY -- Wayne E. Beavers, 77, of Kearney, formerly of Elm Creek, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney. Burial will be in the Kearney cemetery with military rites by Kearney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 759 and the National Guard.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at O'Brien-Straatmann Elm Creek Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Elm Creek Volunteer Fire and Rescue Unit.
Mr. Beavers was born on Dec. 20, 1921, in Elm Creek to Samuel and Mary (Glass) Beavers. He attended Elm Creek public schools.
He entered the U.S. Army in August 1942.
He married
Genevieve Nosal on July 28, 1942, in Grand Island. He was discharged in January 1946, and they lived in Elm Creek. He worked for the alfalfa mill in Elm Creek and retired in 1984 after 38 years there.
He enjoyed gardening, making airplanes out of cans, woodworking and bird-watching. He was an avid Chicago Cub fan.
He was a member of the VFW of Elm Creek and a past member of Kearney Elks Lodge 984.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Gayle) Larson of Hastings, Janet Beavers of Kearney and Jeanne (Mrs. Jerry) Von Loh of Elmwood; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Beavers of Kearney; one half brother, Virgil Beavers of North Platte; a sister, Mary Lucille "Toots" Hobbs of Idaho; and a half sister, Vina Shaw of North Platte.
His wife died in September 1991. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Bowdan; and three brothers, Dale, Verl and Aldin.
Lois Donelson
FULLERTON -- Lois M. Donelson, 83, of Fullerton died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Fullerton Senior Center.
Mrs. Donelson was born on Aug. 25, 1915, at Joplin, Mo., to Frank and Lida (Perew) Gruber. She moved with her family to the Palmer area in 1919. She graduated from Palmer High School in 1932.
She married
Drexel Donelson on Oct. 26, 1936, at Fullerton. She worked for the Nance County Extension office and later for the Nance County welfare office for 17 years.
She was an avid painter of pictures and china and enjoyed playing cards, bowling and traveling.
Mrs. Donelson was a member of the United Methodist Church, Delineation Club, Bridge Club and Pinochle Club.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Larry of Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter, Marlene (Mrs. Lyle) Vawser of Hartington; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Iva Stott, Lucy Hickenbottom and Pearl Fairbanks.
