Carroll Hill
BROKEN BOW -- Carroll Hill, 88, of Broken Bow died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Jimmie McHugh
SHELTON -- Jimmie L. McHugh, 79, of Shelton died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmie of Alda and Tom and Galen, both of Grand Island; two daughters, Sandra Collins of Grand Island and Gloria McHugh of Shelton; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Ernest of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Virgil of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurella; one son, Larry; two brothers, Amil and Edmund; and two sisters, Camilla Pokorney and Eleanor Kersey.
Zoila Ruiz
MINDEN -- Zoila Ruiz, 73, of Minden died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at the Kearney County Community Hospital Long-Term Care Unit in Minden.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Minden. The Rev. James O'Connor will officiate. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Layton Funeral Home in Minden. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Mrs. Ruiz was born on Feb. 15, 1924, in Asherton, Texas, to Eustacio and Josefa (Castillo) Villarreal. She grew up in the Asherton area.
She married
Martin Ruiz on Feb. 20, 1946. They moved to Atlanta in 1948 and to Minden in 1953. She worked as a cook at C.L. Jones Middle School for 28 years, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the altar society. She enjoyed reading and music.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Fred Ruiz of North Platte and Joe Ruiz of Lincoln; four grandchildren; one brother, Eustacio Villarreal Jr. of Harlinger, Texas; and two sisters, Aurora Lopez and Nevolena Martinez, both of Carrizo Springs, Texas.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, three sons and two sisters.
Mildred Wagner
YORK -- Mildred L. Wagner, 90, of York died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at York.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Metz Chapel in York. The Rev. Art Brinkmeyer will officiate. Mrs. Wagner was cremated. Private family burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Wagner was born on Aug. 19, 1907, at Wood River to Warren and Clara (Quisenberry) Jacobus.
She was a longtime teacher at Giltner, Doniphan, Red Cloud and District 66 at Alda.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York and an avid gardener.
Survivors include one daughter, LaVerne (Mrs. Jack) Alexander of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one brother and two sisters.
Asella Hierlmeier
Granger, Iowa -- Asella A. Hierlmeier, 92, of Granger, Iowa, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, in Granger.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger. The Rev. Samuel Palmer will officiate. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Harry Kurtenbach will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines, Iowa, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Mrs. Hierlmeier was born on April 17, 1905, in Molitar, Wis., to Bernard and Ann Marie Kleutsch. She grew up and was educated in Molitar.
She married
Alfred J. Hierlmeier on April 20, 1940, in Medford, Wis. The couple lived there until coming to Grand Island in 1958. Mr. Hierlmeier died on Sept. 6, 1980.
Mrs. Hierlmeier moved to Granger Manor one and a half years ago.
She had been a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and had been active at the Grand Generation Center, both in Grand Island.
Survivors include a son, James Hierlmeier of Urbandale, Iowa; two daughters, Betty Levandoski of Cedarburg, Wis., and Colette Gasperic of New Berlin, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosella Bowerman of Portland, Ore., and Marcella Sanders of Ogema, Wis.; and one brother, Al Kleutsch of Winter, Wis.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Claire; a grandson; and three brothers, Labin, Clem and Urban.
Robert Koch
WHITTIER, Calif. -- Robert L. Koch, 65, of Whittier, Calif., died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, in Whittier.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Koch; four sons, Terry R. Koch, John L. Koch, Jeffrey L. Koch and Eric R. Koch; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Koch; and one sister, Betty Wandra.
Audrey Hughes
Audrey Hughes, 71, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, in Denver.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Fairmount cemetery in Denver.
Fairmount Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hughes was born on Jan. 8, 1927, in Port Sunlight, Cheshire, England, to Harold and Bertha (Harrison) Gee.
She was an optometrist's assistant to Drs. Richard Brown and K.J. Walker.
She married
Kenneth Hughes on Aug. 2, 1947, at Christ Church at Port Sunlight, Cheshire, England. They came to Grand Island in 1950.
Survivors include her husband and one daughter, Pamela (Mrs. Phillip) Carlson of Aurora, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her brother.
Arthur Seier
Arthur Seier, 92, of Tiffany Square Care Center died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Grand Island City Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Tiffany Square.
Mr. Seier was born on Jan. 17, 1906, in Hall County to Adolph and Emma (Rohweder) Seier. He was educated in Hall County.
He farmed in the Doniphan area and raised Hereford cattle all of his adult life. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
Survivors include two nieces, Patsy Ellis of Hastings and Jean Ann Spiehs of Alda; and one nephew, Kenneth Scheel of Wood River.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ella Huebner, Lily Huebner and Viola Scheel; and two brothers, Emil Seier and an infant brother.
