'Doc' Sanders
William J. "Doc" Sanders, 88, of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
George Anderson
ST. EDWARD -- George Clarence Anderson Jr., 86, of St. Edward died Monday, July 6, 1998, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Palestine Baptist Church of St. Edward with the Rev. Tom Washington officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in St. Edward.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
Mr. Anderson was born on Sept. 21, 1911, on a farm east of St. Edward to George Sr. and Maude (Simpson) Anderson.
He married
Elaine Ellis on Oct. 9, 1932, at the Palestine Baptist Church parsonage. They lived and farmed in the Palestine community until 1980, when they moved into St. Edward.
He was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church. He served on the Palestine school board and the Newman Grove Creamery Board. He was a member of the Farmers Union Gas and Oil Co.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Dana Anderson of St. Edward; one daughter, Kathryn (Mrs. Wes) Lyons of Omaha; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold "Pete" Anderson of St. Edward.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, an infant and John; and two sisters, Margaret and Mary Anderson.
Alex Dorothy
PLEASANTON -- Alex Joseph Dorothy, 5, of Pleasanton died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at his home near Pleasanton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pleasanton. The Rev. Loren Pohlmeier will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery south of Ravenna.
A wake service and rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Alex was born on Sept. 22, 1992, in Kearney to Rod and Teresa (Muegerl) Dorothy. He attended preschool in Pleasanton and was an Awana Cubbie. He enjoyed farming with his dad. He was diagnosed with cancer in January.
Survivors include his parents, of Pleasanton; one brother, Jonathan of Pleasanton; four sisters, Stephanie, Samantha, April and Kira, all of Pleasanton; and two grandmothers, Frances Muegerl of Ravenna and Betty Dorothy of Pleasanton.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Joseph Muegerl and Ray Dorothy.
Karolyn Hickenbottom
MASON CITY -- Karolyn J. Hickenbottom, 56, of Mason City died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at the Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow from injuries suffered in a pickup/pedestrian accident on Highway 2 east of Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Mason City. The Rev. Victor Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Hickenbottom was born on April 30, 1942, at Broken Bow to Robert Wesley and Lucille (Sorensen) Miche. She attended country school in the Algernon community in Custer County and graduated from Ansley High School in 1960.
She married
Charles Hickenbottom on Dec. 3, 1960, at Ansley. They lived in Ansley until moving to Broken Bow in 1962. They moved five miles east of Ansley in 1965.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mason City, the Mason City Community Club, the Hitch N Git Club, the Rebekahs and Job's Daughters.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Pamela Hickenbottom of Broken Bow; one son, Patrick Hickenbottom of Mason City; her mother, of Hazard; and one sister, Marilyn (Mrs. Duane) Miller of Ansley.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Lester Schweitzer
BERWYN -- Lester Schweitzer, 71, of Berwyn died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Buhl, Idaho.
Services are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Jeanette Saner
DUNNING -- Jeanette Iris Saner, 86, of Dunning died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at the Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Open Bible Church in Dunning. The Rev. Violet Stithem will officiate. Burial will be in the Dunning Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Saner was born on Sept. 3, 1911, at Ravenna to Andrew and Margaret (Gray) Wilson. At an early age, she moved with her family to Brewster. She grew up at Brewster, where she attended school.
She married
Pearl O. Saner on June 10, 1928. They lived on a ranch five miles north of Dunning. Mr. Saner died on June 13, 1979, and Mrs. Saner moved into Dunning. She became a resident of Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow in November 1997.
She was a member of the Open Bible Church in Dunning and was the church pianist for many years. She loved music.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Saner of North Platte, Jerry F. Saner of Broken Bow and Glen Saner; five daughters, Ruth Nelson, Freda Fiehler and Lucille I. Barker, all of Broken Bow, Fern Nelson of Thedford and Marilyn Joyce Swisher of Halsey; 26 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a special friend, Les McCormick of Brewster.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Fred; a daughter, Margaret; three grandchildren; one brother; and three sisters.
John Smith
AUBURN -- John Stanley Smith, 83, of Auburn, formerly of Shelton, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Auburn Eagles Post 3767. The Rev. Frank Zimmerman will officiate. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in the Shelton Cemetery.
Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith was born on June 15, 1915, at Shelton to William and Nona (Boyce) Smith. He spent his childhood in Shelton and attended school there. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army Infantry, 35th Division, Company A.
He married
Lorna Read on Sept. 14, 1946, at Smith Center, Kan. While in the Shelton and Wood River area, he farmed, worked as an implement mechanic and operated a grain elevator.
He was a 50-year member of American Legion Post 314 at Wood River and a member of Auburn Eagles Post 3767.
Survivors include three daughters, Jean Austin of Edgar, Nona Conley of Hamlin, W.Va., and Linda (Mrs. Roy) Deeds of North Platte; a son, Bill Smith of Duluth, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Thienel of Shelton; and a special friend, Betty L. Able of Auburn.
His wife died on April 11, 1979. He also was preceded in death by two grandchildren, one brother and one sister.
Guy Fletcher
EDMOND, Wash. -- Guy Otis Fletcher, 92, of Edmond, Wash., formerly of Taylor, died June 30, 1998, at Edmond after a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kent cemetery in Loup County. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. July 29 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Taylor.

Mr. Fletcher was born on June 4, 1906, in Brewster to Charles and Laura Fletcher. After attending school in Brewster through the 10th grade, he graduated from Taylor High School in 1927. He then began his career at the Bank of Taylor, which lasted 481/2 years.
He married
Floy Bromwich on June 1, 1930. They lived in Taylor until moving to the Sargent Care Center due to failing health. They moved to Edmond, Wash., in 1997 to be closer to their families.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Claudia Moran of Centralia, Wash., Reita (Mrs. Karl) Krienke and Rosalee (Mrs. Robert) Hughson, both of Seattle; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
