Eugene Mathesen
COMSTOCK -- Eugene Matheson, 89, of Comstock, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. The Rev. Murry Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in Douglas Grove cemetery at Comstock with military graveside services.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Elizabeth Seidel
ST. LIBORY -- Elizabeth B. Seidel, 93, of St. Libory died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Libory's Catholic Church in St. Libory. The Rev. David Rykwalder will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
A parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul will be in charge of arrangements.
'Larry' Christensen
Lawrence "Larry" Christensen, 54, of 922 W. Louise died Saturday, June 6, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Kleine Funeral Home. The Rev. Jocelyn Tupper will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be just prior to services.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Christensen was born on Nov. 4, 1944, at Aurora to Merle and Marjory (Hopkins) Christensen. He was educated in Grand Island, where he lived with his grandparents, Everett and Stella Hallenbeck. He graduated from Grand Island High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He held a doctorate in philosophy and was an electrical engineer.
He was a professor at Purdue University. He came back to Grand Island to head the Department of Labor for 10 years. His last employment was as a security guard at Conestoga Mall.
He created many friendships at the Alibi Lounge.
Survivors include one sister, Sherry Lambiotte of Davenport, Iowa; a half sister, Pam Smith of San Diego; a half brother, Jerry of Houston; and an uncle, Gene Hopkins of Brunswick, Ga., who provided care.
June Lindsey
June Lindsey, 93, of Grand Island died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Her body was cremated, and private family services will be at a later date. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
She was born on June 9, 1905, at Wellston, Okla., to Marion and Elizabeth (Lovell) Lindsey. She grew up and attended school in Wellston, graduating in 1923. She worked for W.W. Steel Co. of Oklahoma City until her retirement.
She moved to Riverside Lodge in Grand Island in 1996.
Survivors include two grandsons, Ken Caldwell of Grand Island and Greg Caldwell of Chicago; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Eva Deane Caldwell.
Betty Churchill
CENTRAL CITY -- Betty Jean Churchill, 66, of Central City, formerly of Grand Island, died on Tuesday, June 9, 1998, in Central City as the result of a bicycle-auto accident.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Dale Sallans will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery near St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established.
Mrs. Churchill was born on June 2, 1932, in Aurora to Fred L. and Velma O. (Clark) Andersen. She grew up in the Kronborg area and attended a rural Hamilton County school. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1950.
She married
Dwaine Dale Churchill on Dec. 6, 1950, in Hiawatha, Kan.
Mrs. Churchill loved animals and gardening.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Ronald of Holstein; two daughters, Cindy (Mrs. Brad) Baker of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Linda Allaway of Grand Island; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Walter Furby
FULLERTON -- Walter Furby, 77, of Fullerton died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Furby was born on Sept. 9, 1920, near Genoa to Roy and Emma (Lutzke) Furby. He attended District 54 and District 20 schools in Nance County. He moved with his parents west of Genoa in 1934. He farmed with his father.
He married
Lucille Boardman on Sept. 16, 1940, at Albion. They farmed in Merrick, Nance and Boone counties. They moved to Belgrade, where he worked as a police officer and in maintenance for the city. He worked for the Nance County Roads Department as foreman for 22 years, beginning in 1966. They moved to Fullerton in 1970, and he retired in December 1987.
He was a longtime member of the Fullerton Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Nadine (Mrs. Dwight) Imus of Fullerton and Ava (Mrs. Bruce) Wild of Loveland, Colo.; two sons, Daryle Furby of Loveland, Colo., and Randy of Bourbonnais, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Ferris of Holdrege and Ethel Vossberg of Loveland, Colo.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Walter Eugene; and three brothers, Ralph, Marvin and Glenn Furby.
Clara Haremza
LOUP CITY -- Clara B. Haremza, 94, of Loup City died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic cemetery at Ashton.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. vigil service, Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Mrs. Haremza was born on July 29, 1903, at Omaha to Joseph and Antonia (Szalewski) Krakowski. When she was 2 years old, her mother died. When she was 3, she moved to Ashton to live with Frank and Helen (Bydalek) Kaminski. She was educated in Sherman County schools.
She married
Fred Haremza on Nov. 9, 1948, at Ashton. The couple lived in Ashton throughout their marriage. She worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island for several years. Mr. Haremza died on Jan. 14, 1987. Mrs. Haremza moved to Loup City in 1987 and entered the Rose Lane Home in 1994.
She was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and was a former member of St. Francis Catholic Church and its altar society and rosary sodality.
Survivors include a cousin and his wife, Ernie and Leona Bydalek of Grand Island, who provided her care.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Gertrude Pecha, Rose Pieinecke and Frances Pecha.
