Luella Boughton
Luella F. Boughton, 74, of Grand Island died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at St. Francis Memorial Health Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Paul Konig will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Boughton was born Oct. 25, 1924, to Otto "Martin" and Edith (Minor) Mickelson in Kenmare, N.D. She grew up and attended school in Kenmare, and later received her cosmetology license in Minnesota. She held licenses in Minnesota and North Dakota.
She married
Floyd E. Boughton Jr. on July 1, 1946, in Sydney, Mont. The couple lived in Kenmare, N.D., Velva, N.D., and Minot, N.D., where he was employed by various companies. He also was the co-owner of a truck and equipment company in Minot, N.D.
The family moved to Grand Island in 1964, where Mrs. Boughton was employed by Montgomery Wards, Boughton Equipment, Inc. and Deterding's Comfort Center.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, and held the committee chair for the social minister committee. She enjoyed playing bridge and taking her dog for walks.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Faye Boughton Coker of Stanton, Iowa; two sons, Dr. Craig F. Boughton of Springfield, Mo., and Kent M. Boughton of Grand Island; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Delmer Mickelson of Kenmare, N.D., and Vernon Mickelson of Libby, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Herbert; and two sisters, Wyota and Jenny.
Carolyn Schwieger
Carolyn A. Schwieger, 83, of Grand Island died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate.
Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Schwieger was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Ovina to John C. and Anna (Stoltenberg) Rauert. She grew up in the Hall County area, attending District 18 school.
She married
William H. Schwieger on Jan. 12, 1941 at Kensington, Kan. They lived in Grand Island, where she worked at Model Laundry and the sugar beet factory. For the last 25 years, she was a caregiver for the sick and elderly in Grand Island.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Platt Duetsche, and the Eagles.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen (Mrs. Larry) Gregg of Doniphan, Verna (Mrs. Adrian) Lewandowski of Grand Island, Ielene (Mrs. Al) Humphrey of Giltner; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a brother, John Rauert of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two grandchildren and two sisters, Beulah Hargens and Lola Harder.
Mabel Sowl
Mabel R. Sowl, 81, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998 in Grand Island.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Bacon will officiate. Burial will be in the Pierce Chapel Country cemetery near Central City.
There will be no visitation. Body will be cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Sowl was born July 31, 1917, in Murdo, S.D., to Porter S. and Angeline C. (Groff) Nelson. She grew up and and attended schools in Fullerton and Waco.
She married
Edward M. Sowl on Aug. 9, 1933, in St. Paul. They lived in Fullerton, Cozad and Chapman before moving to Grand Island. She worked in cafes in Grand Island. She was also a cook at the Saddle Club and Coney Island Cafe. She volunteered at the Salvation Army.
She was a member of First Christian Church and also attended the Salvation Army Church.
Survivors include three sons, Robert of Houston, Francis of Grand Island and Wesley of Beatrice; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Edward Nelson of Gothenburg, and three sisters, Grace Comstock of Ketchikan, Alaska, Margaret Zacharius of Hampton, Iowa, and Betty Meyers of Salsbury, Md.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter and a brother.
Dorothy Caddy
RAVENNA - Dorothy J. Caddy, 67, of Ravenna died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
No services will be held. Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna.
Mrs. Caddy was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Sweetwater to Clarence and Sophia (Skrabble) Ruzicka. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1948.
She married
Ronald E. Caddy on July 8, 1949. He served in the military and lived many places. She lived in Grand Island and Cairo before moving to Ravenna in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick of Ravenna and Mike of Lincoln; two daughters, Colleen Caddy of Phillipsburg, Kan., and Ronda Bokelman of Hay Springs; one sister, Louise Stubbs of Phoenix, and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
Marge Eby
DANNEBROG - Anna M. "Marge" Eby, 81, of Dannebrog died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Services are pending at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Nina Holm
WOLBACH - Nina L. Holm, 87, of Wolbach died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. Rev. Marsha Jark-Swain will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside cemetery in Wolbach.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
McIntyre-Jacobsen Funeral Home in Wolbach is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Holm was born March 21, 1911, in Wolbach to John and Lena (Berney) Grossart. She attended rural school near Wolbach.
She married
Jim Holm on May 11, 1934, at Lake Andes, S.D. The couple lived in Wolbach and operated Midland Produce Company, selling wholesale and retail milk, cream and other products. She later worked as a cook at Wolbach Public School.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie (Mauricio) Ramiarez of Lincoln; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Victor Grossart.
Raymond Pedersen
ST. PAUL - Raymond Pedersen, 89, of St. Paul died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Rev. Larry Lepper will officiate. Burial with military honors will be held at Elmwood cemetery at St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the church or donor's choice.
Mr. Pedersen was born July 8, 1908, near Wolbach to Rasmus and Amanda (Sundstrom) Pedersen. He attended Rural Midway School. He farmed with his family and then later on his own.
He moved to Detroit, Mich., in 1937, where he worked at Fisher Body. In June 1943, he entered the Army. After his discharge in October 1945, he farmed near Wolbach.
He married
Velma LaMont on Sept. 15, 1960, in Wagner, Okla.
He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul.
Survivors include his wife of St. Paul; a daughter, Donna (Mrs. Walter) Neidfelt of Grand Island; two step-daughters, LaVada (Mrs. Bill) Ockerman of Tempe, Ariz., and Jean (Gary) Lovett of Chino Hills, Calif.; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Emil, Henry and Einer; and four sisters, Dora Pedersen, Marie Pedersen, Gertrude Sonderup and Alice Jacobson.
