Harold Reineke
ERICSON - Harold Theodore Reineke, 94, of Ericson died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Burwell. The Rev. Rolly Salts will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to donor's choice.
Mr. Reineke was born June 23, 1904, in Hancock, Iowa, to Walter and Louisa (Roabe) Reineke. He attended school at the James Center School in Hancock. He moved to Cedar River Valley in his teens.
He married
Claire Ione Adams on June 24, 1929, in Grand Island. They raised cattle on their ranch for 50 years.
Survivors include a son, Gary of Lincoln; a daughter, Myrna Reineke of Loup City; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and eight sisters.
LaVonne E. Sautter
SCOTIA - LaVonne E. Sautter, 67, of Scotia died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at St. Francis Skilled Care in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Horace Mission Church north of Scotia. The Rev. Deverle L. Cooper will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Hope cemetery in Scotia.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Sautter was born March 7, 1931, near Prosser to Claus and Edna (Dibbern) Boltz. She grew up and attended school in Wood River, graduating in 1950 from Wood River High School. She worked at Model Laundry and Ben's Rexall in Grand Island. She later worked at the Scotia Cleaners.
She married
LaVern B. Sautter on May 22, 1952, in Scotia. They farmed near Wood River until 1956, when they moved to a farm near North Loup. They later moved to a farm near Scotia.
She was a member of the Happy Hour Club, B.F.F.D. Craft Club, and was active in the Scotia, North Loup, Elba Social Times. She also participated in bible study with the Horace Mission Ladies Fellowship.
Survivors include her husband of Scotia; her mother of Wood River; a son, Randall Sautter of North Loup; two daughters, Marlene (Mrs. Roy) Robbins of Grand Island and Jeanette (Mrs. Brett) Bayer of Columbus; five grandchildren and a sister, Norma (Mrs. Frank) Gosda of Grand Island.
Vernon Bennett
LINCOLN - Vernon "Max" Bennett, 71, of Lincoln, formerly of Loup City, died Saturday, November 14, 1998, at Bryan LGH in Lincoln.
Services are pending at Higgins funeral home of Loup City.
Mable Alderman
KEARNEY -- Mable Alderman, 93, of Kearney died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at the St. Lukes Care Home in Kearney.
Services are pending at Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon-Shelton.
Glen Hafer
AURORA -- Glen K. Hafer, 87, of Aurora, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at the Aurora Community Care Center in Aurora.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Gretchen Diers will officiate. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 4 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hafer was born Sept. 16, 1910, to Clyde and Edna (Gannon) Hafer in Hamilton County. He grew up and received his education at Doniphan, graduating from Doniphan High School in 1929.
On Jan. 19, 1933, he married
Lenora Schulte in Grand Island. The couple lived in Seward County until 1936 when they returned to the farm. They farmed in Hall and Hamilton counties. They continued to live on the farm until moving to Aurora in 1990. Mr. Hafer moved into the care center in 1993.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Platt-Duetsche Society.
Survivors include his wife; and one sister, Lucille Robinson of Doniphan.
Emil Kvamme
PETERSBURG -- Emil H. Kvamme, 71, of Petersburg died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Boone County Medical Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel-Zion Lutheran Church at rural Albion. The Rev. Larry Spomer will officiate. Burial will be in North Branch-East Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Petersburg American Legion Post 334. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Zion Lutheran Church.
Melvin Roach
PLAINVIEW -- Melvin Roach, 92, of Plainview Manor died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at the Plainview Public Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing with the Rev. Jerry Leise officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Osmond.
Ashburn Funeral Home of Plainview is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Roach was born Jan. 30, 1906, in Wakonda, S.D., to Frank and Minnie (Hagaman) Roach. She was educated at Wakonda and Yankton College.
He married
Olinda Grosse Rhode on April 22, 1929, in Osmond.
Mr. Roach taught and coached in Nebraska and South Dakota. Later in life he managed lumber yards in Nebraska and South Dakota. He then returned to teaching in Butte. In 1990 he and his wife retired to a home that they built on an acreage near Page.
Mrs. Roach died in November 1992.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Carmen Cronk of Page; a son, Larry Roach of Spalding; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Virginia McHugh
OMAHA -- Virginia N. McHugh, 81, of Omaha, formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Memorial services will be on Friday at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Omaha. Crosby Burket Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Gravesides services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate.
Mrs. McHugh was born on Jan. 14, 1917, at Fairfield to Edgar and Bertha (Jacobs) Nevins. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1935.
She married
Harold McHugh in 1938 in Omaha. They lived in Grand Island and Denver. Mr. McHugh died in 1963.
Survivors include three sisters, Bernice Rohlff of Douglas, Wyo., Fay Andrews of Omaha and Shirley Schafer of Plattsmouth.
Nila Nelson
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Nila Sue Nelson, 47, of Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of Fullerton and Newman Grove, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.
A private family service was held. Her body was cremated. Reager Funeral Home of Fort Collins was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Nelson was born April 22, 1950, in Genoa to Ernest Eugene and Helen (Whited) Foland. She earned a degree from Nettleton Business College in Omaha in 1969.
She married
Marvin Nelson on Dec. 5, 1969, in Newman Grove. She was a physical therapist in a nursing facility in Nebraska for five years. She then worked for Children's World, Alpine Family Care-Women's Clinic in Fort Collins. She had lived in Fort Collins since 1991.
She enjoyed the mountains and flowers.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jamie Nelson of Loveland, Colo. and Adam Nelson of Fort Collins; one daughter, Amanda Nelson of Fort Collins; her parents, Gene and Helen Foland of Fullerton; three brothers, Dale Foland of Northglenn, Colo., Darrel Foland of Carolina Beach, N.C., and David Foland of Fort Collins; one sister, Linda Draper of Conway, Ark.; and three grandchildren.
