Lex Ann Simonson
PURDUM -- Lex Ann Simonson, 55, of Purdum died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at her home near Purdum.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sandhills High School Gymnasium in Dunning with the Revs. David Hansen, Les Canfield and Larry Coulter officiating. Burial will be in the Purdum Cemetery. Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the Lex Ann Simonson Scholarship Fund and the United Church of Christ in Dunning.
Mrs. Simonson was born on July 25, 1944, at Ainsworth to Raymond and Winifred (Cannon) Teaford. She graduated from Thedford High School in 1962.
She married
Bernie Simonson on April 20, 1963, and they lived on the family ranch.
She was an active member of the United Church of Christ at Dunning and the Women's Fellowship, D.O.E.S. of Ainsworth, Miss Rodeo Nebraska Association member, various bridge clubs and Nebraska Cattlewomen. She was a past High School Rodeo adult director, Kids Wrestling Federation Founder, Sandhills School Board member, past president of Area 10 Cattlewomen, 4-H Horse Club leader, Cattlemen's Ball committee member for two years and was Miss Buffalo Bill in 1962. She enjoyed reading, her family, golf, bridge and rodeo.
Survivors include her husband, Bernie of Purdum; two sons, J.W. of Dunning and Gordon of Purdum; one daughter, Paulette (Mrs. Chad) Ericsson of Soda Springs, Idaho; her mother, Winifred Teaford of Ainsworth; two grandchildren; and an adopted son, Jack Morris of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her father and one grandson.
Evelyn Whetstone
COLUMBUS -- Evelyn M. Whetstone, 67, of Columbus, formerly of St. Paul, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at a Lincoln hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church in Columbus. The Revs. Anthony Espinosa and Jim Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure's Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a 7 p.m. rosary service. Visitation will continue from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Whetstone was born on May 6, 1931, at Elyria to Frank and Veronica Wadas. She graduated from St. Paul High School. She lived in St. Paul until 1954.
She married
Neil E. Whetstone on Oct. 30, 1954, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul.
They lived in Grand Island from 1954 to 1958, when they moved to Columbus. Mrs. Whetstone was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Don of Kearney, Jim of Lincoln and Mike of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Mary Santin of Palmer, Patti Muhlenkamp of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Sue German of Carroll, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Wadas of Lincoln and Ray Wadas of Johnstown, Colo.; and three sisters, Florence Moraczewski and Tillie Schenck, both of St. Paul, and Agnes Kinser of Eugene, Ore.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hank Wadas and Stan Wadas.
June Alfred
LEWISTON, Idaho -- June Alfred, 72, of Lewiston, Idaho, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston after complications from a stroke.
Mrs. Alfred was cremated. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate.
Mrs. Alfred was born on June 15, 1926, in Kearney to Orva P. and Tracey P. (Whitaker) McCurdy. They moved to Grand Island, where she attended school.
She married
Keith E. Alfred on Aug. 19, 1944. They moved to California in 1956. She worked with the Visiting Nurses Association. They moved to Lewiston in 1984 after she had a stroke. She had been in ill health since then.
She enjoyed bowling, fishing and cooking.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jerry Alfred of Clayton, Ind., and Dave Alfred of Dayton, Nev.; one daughter, Marianne Hastings of Lewiston, Idaho; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Francis Thibault
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. -- Francis Thibault, 89, of Fountain Valley, Calif., formerly of Dannebrog, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999.
Services will be Tuesday in California.
Luella Boughton
Luella F. Boughton, 74, of Grand Island died Saturday, Nov. 14 at St. Francis Memorial Health Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Paul Konig will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Boughton was born Oct. 25, 1924 to Otto "Martin" and Edith (Minor) Mickelson in Kenmare, N.D. She grew up and received her education in Kenmare, and later received her cosmetology license in Minnesota. She held licenses in Minnesota and North Dakota.
She married
Floyd E. Boughton Jr., July 1, 1946, in Sydney, Mont. The couple lived in Kenmare, N.D., Vela, N.D. and Minot, N.D. where he was employed by various companies. He also was the co-owner of a truck and equipment company in Minot, N.D. The family moved to Grand Island in 1964, where Mrs. Boughton was employed by Montgomery Wards, Boughton Equipment, Inc. and Deterding's Comfort Center.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, and held the committee chair for the social minister committee. She enjoyed playing bridge and taking her dog for walks.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Faye Boughton of Coker, Stanton, IA; two sons, Dr. Craig F. Boughton of Springfield, Miss. and Kent M. Boughton of Grand Island; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Delmer Mickelson of Kenmare, N.D. and Vernon Mickelson of Libby, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Herbert; and two sisters, Wyota and Jenny.
Maxine Erickson
CENTRAL CITY -- Maxine Marie Erickson, 78, of Central City, died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha Friday, Nov. 13.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairview United Methodist Church north of Central City. The Rev. Barbara Hart will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Mrs. Erickson was born on Sept. 2, 1920 to Lloyd and Winifred Willeman on a farm near Central City. She attended rural Merrick County schools, and graduated from Central City High School in 1938. She attended Nebraska Central College, and worked for the Merrick County Surveyors Office from 1939 to 1940.
She married
Leland Erickson on June 1, 1941. They moved to Wichita, KS, where they both worked at Boeing Air Plant until 1944. While Mr. Erickson served in the military, Mrs. Erickson returned to Nebraska. After his discharge in 1947, the family farmed until Mr. Erickson's death in 1978.
Mrs. Erickson enjoyed china painting, gardening, baking, photography, continuing her education through elder hostels, and bird watching. She served as the leader for the 4-H Bird Watchers Club. She was also a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed playing in the God's Country Ringers Handbell Choir.
She is survived by two sons, Danford and Donald Erickson of Central City; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Pat Ryan and Janet McMahon of Central City, and Etta Ward of Kansas.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Daniels, Marge Chesarek and Betty Johnson; and one brother, Thomas Willeman.
Nina Holm
WOLBACH -- Nina L. Holm, 87, of Wolbach died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services are pending with the McIntyre-Jacobsen Funeral Home of Wolbach.
Bill Mueller
ELBA -- Bill A. Mueller, 35, of Elba died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, near Elba as the result of a farming accident.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ord. The Rev. Keith Menter will officiate. Burial will be in the Dannevirke Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Dannevirke All Faiths Church at Dannevirke.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mr. Mueller was born April 6, 1963, to LeRoy and Shirley (Bauman) Mueller at Columbus. The family lived on a farm between Genoa and St. Edward and he began his education at the Big Cut rural school. At the age of 7, he moved with his family to a farm near Dannevirke. He attended Elba Public Schools and was a 1981 graduate of Elba High School. He then attended Central Community College at Hastings and graduated in diesel mechanics in 1985. He farmed on the family farm and also worked as a mechanic.
He married
Letha Kruger on July 26, 1997, at Dannevirke. The couple continued to farm. He was very active in many community affairs and was a helping hand to all his neighbors.
He enjoyed hunting, four wheel drive pickup trucks and spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church serving numerous offices including church council president, and was also a member of the church choir. He was a former member of the Dannevirke Lutheran Church and was currently serving as secretary of the Dannevirke All Faiths Church. He was a former 4-H member and also active in FFA.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Levi and one daughter, Shelby, both at home; his parents of Columbus and two sisters, Peggy (Mrs. Duane) Schneider of Burwell and Nancy (Mrs. Shawn) Harders of Cairo.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
