Perry Walker
Perry L. Walker, 86, of Grand Island died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Walker was born on April 10, 1912, at Stockham to Ernest and Lorena (Behrands) Walker. He grew up and was educated in Grand island.
He married
Viola Cihlar on Aug. 19, 1937, at Lincoln. The couple lived in Grand Island.
He entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 13, 1943, served during World War II and was discharged on Nov. 3, 1943.
He worked for 26 years as a truck driver for Diamond Engineering and also worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the American Legion of Grand Island. He enjoyed woodworking, playing pool and sports.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Carolyn (Mrs. Jim) Powers of Gibbon; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sarah Belle McHugh of Grand Island.
Jesse Haines
KEARNEY - Jesse P. Haines, infant son of Jesse L. and Shannon (Park) Haines of Kearney, was stillborn June 24, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services were on Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Joseph Carlson officiated. Burial was in the Kearney Cemetery.
O'Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home of Kearney was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include his parents; one brother, Bryan at home; grandparents, Roger and Shirley Park of Kearney and Michael and Lenetta Haines of Grand Island; great-grandparents, Nettie Park of Cambridge, Orville Buethe of Olathe, Kan., Jim and Jo Lee of Hastings and Jesse P. Haines of Grand Island; and great-great-grandparents, Opal Penrod of Beaver City and Mary Henry of Denver.
Lillian Kotrous
KEARNEY - Lillian M. Kotrous, 73, of Kearney died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at Mount Carmel Home in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Wenceslaus' Catholic Church in Verdigre. The Rev. Michael Malloy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus' cemetery in Verdigre.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Revs. Michael McDonald, Val Bartek and Ray Jasinski officiating.
Another visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Wenceslaus' Catholic Church in Verdigre. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mrs. Kotrous was born on Jan. 6, 1925, in Niobrara to Louis and Jenny (Perez) Juracek. She attended school in Knox County.
She married
Marvin Kotrous on June 14, 1943, in Omaha. The couple farmed and then moved to Grant in February 1960. She then worked for Perkins County Community Hospital for 31 years until she retired. Her husband died on Dec. 27, 1997.
She was a member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant, the altar society and Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son, Gailen of Kearney; one daughter, Cheryl Alkire of Kearney; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edwin Juracek of Denver.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Linda; two brothers, Emil and Louis Juracek; and one sister, Helen Wirth.
William Laudenklos
ST. EDWARD - William Milton Laudenklos, 97, of St. Edward died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in St. Edward. The Rev. Mike McInnis will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at St. Edward.
Miller-Levander Funeral Home of St. Edward is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Laudenklos was born on Jan. 15, 1901, at Shelby to Adolph and Katherine (Eale) Laudenklos. He attended Platte County District 25 School near Oconee.
He married
Lillian Fritzges on Nov. 1, 1923, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived and farmed near St. Edward and surrounding communities. They retired from the farm and moved into St. Edward in 1982. He moved to Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward in October 1997.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include one daughter, Lorene "Tootie" (Mrs. Ralph) Labenz of St. Edward; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Kowalski of Genoa.
His wife died on Jan. 6, 1998. He also was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd; one granddaughter, four brothers and three sisters.
John Collins
LINCOLN - John E. Collins, 89, of Lincoln, formerly of Wood River, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Gramarcy Hill Retirement Home in Lincoln.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island. The Rev. Larry Nothstine will officiate.
Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
Ellen Piskorski
NEW ORLEANS - Graveside memorial services for Ellen Louise Piskorski, 34, of New Orleans will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Ord Catholic Cemetery.
The Rev. Jim Warner will officiate.
She died on July 12, 1997.
Services had been on June 6 at the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London, Wis. Memorial services were on July 26, 1997, at St. Odilia's Catholic Church in Shoreview, Minn.
Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
She was born on Nov. 20, 1962, in Omaha to Ed and Marianne Piskorski.
Survivors include her parents, of New London, Wis.; a sister, Christine (Mrs. Duane) Fisher of Shoreview, Minn.; and two brothers, Mack Piskorski of Derby, Kan., and David Piskorski of Mounds View, Minn.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Everett Day
Everett Day, 84, of Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center died Friday Feb. 6, 1998, at the center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dominic Pecoraro will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kleine Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Day was born on June 28, 1913, in Gibbon to Frank and Clara (Gilming) Day. He received his education in Gibbon.
He married
Mary Bathen in 1937 and later farmed south of Farnham until 1952. Then he moved to the Nebraska Panhandle, where he farmed and drove a truck until 1955, at which time he moved to the Cozad area. He later married
Pearl Nielsen in 1959.
He then married
Dorothy Hohmann Niedfelt in 1967. The couple moved to Grand Island in 1967, where he worked at various jobs and retired as a maintenance worker from Delicious Foods in 1975.
He enjoyed playing the accordion, big band music and dancing.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Day of Lakewood, Colo., and Dick Niedfelt of Grand Island; four daughters, Helen Wells of Gering, Eloise Meyer of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Janiece Day of Minden, and Audrey Hongsmeier of Grand Island; six stepchildren, five step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; one son, Gerald; and two sisters.
