Bernice Randolph
LITCHFIELD -- Bernice Randolph, 87, of Ceresco, formerly of Litchfield, died Sunday, April 25, 1999.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Litchfield Christian Church with Pastor Kenneth Woolery officiating. Burial will be in the Litchfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Christian Church Ladies Aid in Litchfield.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Elaine Randolph of Ceresco; a sister, Leona Franklin of Delta, Colo.; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Francis 'Tab' Senn
BARTLETT -- Francis "Tab" M. Senn, 88, of Syracuse, formerly of Bartlett, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Syracuse.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Bartlett with the Rev. Cynthia Alstadt officiating. Burial will be in the Bartlett City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the Bartlett United Methodist Church, the Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department or the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Syracuse.
Mr. Senn was born Dec. 14, 1910, to August and Blance (Libby) Senn in Wheeler County.
On March 8, 1933, he married
Doris Bruner in Bartlett. Mr. Senn worked for the state of Nebraska Department of Roads and retired after 30 years of service in 1975.
He loved to farm, do mechanic work, hunt and fish.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathryn (Mrs. Chuck) Molczyk of Western, Carolyn (Mrs. Fred) Potts of Lincoln, and Marlene (Mrs. Bill) Behling of Syracuse; one son, Steve Senn of Burwell; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lillian Keezer of Syracuse.
Mr. Senn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Arthur Senn; three sisters, Dorothy Welch, Martha Ingram, and Blanche Senn; and two grandsons, Donald and Paul Molczyk.
Marvin Steenson
GREELEY -- Marvin Steenson, 83, of Greeley died Saturday, April 25, 1999, at the Howard County Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley with the Rev. Gerald Carlson officiating.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with the rosary at 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
T. J. Finn and Sons is in charge of arrangements.
John Van Vleet
KEARNEY -- John A. Van Vleet, 83, of Kearney died Saturday, April 24, 1999 in Kearney.
Private family graveside services will be Tuesday at the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives at the Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
Mr. Van Vleet was born Nov. 23, 1915, to Jean C. and Ida A. (Roberts) Van Vleet in Kenesaw. He grew up there and received his education at Irelan School in Kearney County.
In 1945 he married
Nellie A. (Albin) Schneller in Wood River. They lived on farms in the Kenesaw and Gibbon area.
Mr. Van Vleet enjoyed raising and showing Hereford cattle and had owned a farm in the Kearney area for the last 35 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Quaring of Shelton; a stepson, Garrie Schneller of Wylie, Texas; one brother, Wesley of Kearney; a sister, Ellen Liesinger of Sutherland, Ore.; one grandson; and three step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and two sisters.
Daniel Nutter
Daniel J. Nutter, 54, of Grand Island died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Nutter was born on April 13, 1945, at Grand Island to Perry A. and Dorothy I. (Wilkie) Nutter. He grew up and attended school in Grand Island except for a few years when he attended junior high school in Central City. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1963.
During his high school years, he played on two American Legion championship baseball teams, as well as participating in basketball and swimming.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1963 and served at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and in Germany until his discharge in 1967.
He married
Cynthia Johnson on April 26, 1968, at Grand Island. He attended one year of business school in Grand Island and then worked for Swift Packing Co. for 10 years. He began working for Monfort and was still employed there in the fabrication division until the time of his death.
He enjoyed oldies music, sports and was a Big Red fan. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, was involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and coached girls softball.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy; two daughters, Lori Nutter of Lincoln and Amber Nutter of Doane College in Crete; three brothers, Ben Wilkie of Arizona, David Nutter of Lincoln and John Nutter of Puyallup, Wash.; and six sisters, Sally Roberts of Mesa, Ariz., Betty Niedfelt and Barbara Townsley, both of Grand Island, Dorothy Salmon of Hampton, Robin Rowland of Littleton, Colo., and Pamela Lyons of St. Joseph, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Alma Butler
HASTINGS -- Alma M. Butler, 88, of Hastings died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Villa Grace in Hastings.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in All Saints Chapel at Good Samaritan Village in Hastings. The Rev. Lawrence McClure will officiate. Burial will be in the Alda Cemetery.
Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Butler was born on March 18, 1911, at Rooks County, Kan., near Zurich to Charles O. and Mable (Smee) Thomas. She grew up at Zurich and attended school there.
She married
James "Ted" Butler on Oct. 23, 1944, at Phillipsburg, Kan. They lived at Maxwell Field, Ala., until 1946, when they moved to a farm at Ragan. They moved to Webster County to a farm northwest of Guide Rock in 1951. They moved to Hastings in November 1996.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Sharon Butler of Alda; one son, Bob Butler of Casper, Wyo.; two grandsons; and one sister, Vee Stithem of Hays, Kan.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
'Kitty' Henion
SHELTON -- Catherine "Kitty" Henion, 68, of Shelton died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services are pending with Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon and Shelton.
Donald Thompson
NORTH LOUP -- Donald Thompson, 74, of North Loup died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cotesfield Methodist Church. The Rev. Martha Voigt will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery at Scotia with military rites conducted by Reuben Beck American Legion Post 150 of Scotia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ord Memorial chapel.
William Huxford
PHOENIX -- William Eldon Huxford, 83, of Phoenix died April 4, 1999, in Phoenix.
Services were on April 7 at Tempe Mortuary. Chaplain Sally Handley of the Hospice of the Valley officiated. Burial was in the National Memorial cemetery of Arizona with full military honors.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix or any local hospice.
Mr. Huxford was born on Jan. 7, 1916, in Merrick County to J. Eldon and Leonore (Chandler) Huxford. He was educated in Central City and graduated from high school in 1934. He attended Nebraska Central College (now the site of Nebraska Christian High School) just outside Central City.
He married
Helen Wright on April 6, 1940. Mr. Huxford was a World War II Army veteran and retired as a major in the mid-1940s.
After a short employment by the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln, he went to work for the Veterans Administration. He served first at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Grand Island, where they lived for several years.
He went from the Soldiers and Sailors Home to the VA hospital system. He worked in the supplies division in several VA hospitals across the nation, retiring from the VA hospital in Phoenix.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Hollis "Butch," Bill and Bruce; three grandsons; and one sister, Dorothy Kramer of Central City.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Winona Reid and Aline Nielsen.
