Lillian Swanson
NEWMAN GROVE -- Lillian M. Swanson, 78, of Newman Grove died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immanuel-Zion Lutheran Church at rural Albion. The Rev. Larry Spomer will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel-Zion South Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Swanson was born on Feb. 15, 1920, at St. Edward to Thomas and Minnie (Meyers) Kinzer. She attended elementary and high school at St. Edward.
She married
Raymond E. Swanson on Oct. 15, 1941, at Columbus. They lived and farmed in the South Branch area throughout their lives. She also served as a volunteer at Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove. Mr. Swanson died in 1996.
Mrs. Swanson was a longtime member of Immanuel-Zion Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She enjoyed traveling, spending 27 winters in Texas with her husband.
Survivors include two sons, Lonnie of Newman Grove and Dennis of Grand Island; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Kinzer of St. Edward.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam, Ivan and Marion Kinzer; and two sisters, Lucille and Leona.
Tracy Walgren
COLUMBUS -- Tracy P. Walgren, 36, of rural Columbus died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Grand Cayman Island.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Osceola. The Revs. Stephen Griffith and Robert Berlie Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Osceola Cemetery.
Kepner-Roberts Funeral Home of Osceola is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Walgren was born on Oct. 6, 1962, at Osceola to Paul and Sandra (Schumann) Walgren. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1980 and attended Southeast Community College in Milford and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He was a driver for a Columbus trucking company.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include his parents, of York; a brother, Scott of Osceola; and two sisters, April (Mrs. Pervaiz) Butt of St. Louis and Robin (Mrs. Don) Foulk of Chadron.
Robert Clements
NEW CASTLE, Ind. -- Robert E. Clements Sr., 77, of New Castle, Ind., died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at Hancock Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Larry Langer will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Etna cemetery near Huntington, Ind.
Visitation will be one hour before services Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the Henry County Animal Shelter.
Hinsey-Brown Funeral Home in New Castle is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Clements was born on Aug. 8, 1921, in Warren, Ind., to Alva Earl and Nellie (Watkin) Clements.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, presidential citation, Combat Infantry Badge, American Theater of Operations Ribbon and Good Conduct and Victory Medals.
He married
Gerri Needler on July 21, 1946.
He had lived at New Castle for 21 years. He founded, owned and operated Trico Glass and Mirror Co. in New Castle for 12 years, retiring in 1987. He formerly worked for Ohio Plate Glass Co. in Fort Wayne, Ind., for 20 years.
He was a member of the Fort Wayne and Hartford City, Ind., Elks, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hartford City and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Candace "Candy" Clements of San Diego; one son, Dr. Robert Clements Jr. of Indianapolis; two grandchildren; two sisters, Imogene Needler of Hartford City and Carol Ann (Mrs. Henry) Yencer of Grand Island; and one brother, Lloyd Clements of Ellenton, Fla.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Roger.
Linda Pokorney
LA GRANDE, Ore. -- Linda L. Pokorney, 45, of La Grande, Ore., formerly of Ravenna, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at her home. She had battled Lou Gehrig's disease for more than three years.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in Prairie Center. The Rev. Loren Pohlmeier will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna.
A Christian wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pokorney was born on Nov. 21, 1953, at Kearney to Paul and Adella (Vacek) Miigerl. She graduated from Ravenna High School.
She married
Daniel Pokorney on Dec. 23, 1972, at Pleasanton. She was a homemaker, master gardener and cook.
She was a member of Valley Catholic Church and La Grande Country Club.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Jason Pokorney of Meridian, Idaho; two daughters, DaLyn and Diedra Pokorney, both at home; her parents, of Gibbon; and three sisters, Patricia Kieborz of Litchfield, Roberta Paitz of Gibbon and Paula Albright of Kearney.
Gertrude Benson
Gertrude M. Benson, 100, of Wedgewood Care Center died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at the center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Douglas Russell will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before service time Thursday.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Benson was born on April 13, 1898, at Crete to Fred and Flora (Cookes) Gruben. She grew up and was educated in Crete and Grand Island. She worked for Bell Telephone Co. in Grand Island.
She married
Arthur Benson on Aug. 15, 1918, at Grand Island. After her marriage, she stayed at home to take care of her family. Mr. Benson died on Jan. 21, 1978.
Mrs. Benson was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and the Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include two sons, James N. of Grand Island and Dr. Robert W. of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Royce Benson; one daughter, Virginia Morris; and two sisters.
Mabel Strohbehn
Mabel M. Strohbehn, 95, of Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at the center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kleine Funeral Home. The Rev. Lonnie Logan will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Strohbehn was born on Dec. 7, 1903, in rural Hall County to Henry and Dora (Wilhelmi) Frahm. She grew up on a farm near Silver Creek and was educated there.
She married
Walter Strohbehn on Dec. 27, 1944, and they lived in Grand Island. Mr. Strohbehn died in 1972.
Mrs. Strohbehn was a member of the Christian faith. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, her flower gardens and houseplants.
Among survivors are nephew, Gary Frahm of Grand Island, who provided her special care; and two nieces, Alice (Mrs. Robert) Frahm and Verna (Mrs. Ross) Jepson, both of Yoder, Wyo.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Henry Frahm; and two sisters, Mary Frahm and Ann Lockheart.
