Ardith Zauha
BOISE, Idaho -- Ardith Lucille Zauha, 82, of Boise, Idaho, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Dry Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m., Thursday at Gibson Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Parish, St. Luke's Hospice or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Zauha was born on Oct. 4, 1916, in Wahoo to Elmer and Ethel (Winstrom) Johnson. She graduated from Wahoo High School in 1935 and enrolled in a secretarial program at Luther College in Wahoo. She worked as a secretary for the Department of Agricultural Resettlement Administration at Two Rivers in 1936 and later worked at the department's solicitor general's office in Lincoln.
She married
Capt. Richard E. Fate on Jan. 7, 1943. Capt. Fate, a U.S. Air Force pilot, was killed on Oct. 5, 1945, in a plane crash on Saipan on his return home after completing his duty assignment there.
She returned to Luther College in 1946 for laboratory technician classes.
She married
Stanley Zauha on Nov. 20, 1948, in Lincoln. She continued working for the Department of Agriculture in Lincoln. The couple lived in Lincoln; Bozeman, Mont.; and Washington D.C., before settling in Boise in 1957.
She was involved in St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Scandinavian Society, Community Education and St. Luke's Hospice. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her Swedish Christmas Eve dinners.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley; two sons, Tom and Kevin; two daughters, Jody Zauha and Janelle (Mrs. Simon) Dixon; and a sister, Genevieve Dailey.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Johnson; and a sister, Carolyn Engel.
Ella Hongsermeier
Ella F. Hongsermeier, 94, of Grand Island died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Vera Stubbs
Vera E. Stubbs, 76, of Lakeview Rehab/Nursing Center died Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at Lakeview.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kleine Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry Kurtenbach will officiate. Burial will be in Stanley cemetery at Amherst.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Stubbs was born on Aug. 15, 1921, at Amherst to Edwin and Hazel (Fellows) Bunn. She grew up and was educated at Amherst, graduating from Amherst High School in 1939.
She served in the Women's Army Corps from 1943 to 1945.
She married
Wayne Stubbs on Jan. 19, 1946, at Phillipsburg, Kan. They lived at Amherst, Ravenna and Boelus before moving to Grand Island in 1960.
She worked at the Grand Island Veterans Home as a cook, at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Pant on the production line and at Ore-Ida Foods from 1974 until retiring in 1994. Mr. Stubbs died in September 1987.
She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and growing flowers.
Survivors include one son, Larry of Grand Island; one daughter, Lynn Arends of Phillips; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Mike Bunn of Amherst and Orville of Medford, Ore.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde.
Elmer Buske
RAVENNA -- Elmer 'Shorty' Buske, 84, of Ravenna died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Steven Schlund will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna.
A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate.
Visitation will be from 8 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Buske was born on Aug. 13, 1913, in Buffalo County to William and Olga (Thom) Buske. He grew up on a farm south of Ravenna and was educated at a rural school and Ravenna High School.
He married
Irene Jarosz on Aug. 16, 1955. The couple lived on a farm south of Ravenna until they purchased the bowling alley in Ravenna. They owned and operated the bowling alley for eight years. He also sold DeKalb seed corn for 25 years.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Laurie Johnson of Ravenna; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet; one sister, Irene; and one brother, Willie.
Margaret Watson
PALMER -- Margaret Ellan Watson, 81, of Palmer died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at her home.
Private graveside services for the immediate family will be at the Fullerton Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson was born on Nov. 4, 1916, at Palmer to Charles and Grace (Judson) Green.
She graduated from high school and attended business college in California before becoming a loan officer for the Bank of America in Orange County, Calif. She worked there for 31 years.
She married
Kirby Watson on Nov. 7, 1950. Mr. Watson died in September 1973.
Mrs. Watson moved back to Palmer a year and a half ago.
Survivors include one daughter, Kay (Mrs. Gregory) Blowers of Songtan, South Korea; and three grandsons.
Terry McLey
EDGAR -- Terry A. McLey, 62, of Edgar died Feb. 17, 1998, at Perkins Pavilion in Hastings.
Services were on Friday at the Edgar Cemetery. Ellen Campbell officiated. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar was in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1935, at Kearney. She was an administrative secretary for 30 years at the Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in Lincoln and Grand Island. She retired in 1990.
Survivors include two brothers, Lanny McLey of Fairfield Bay, Ark., and Gene McLey of Edgar.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ron.
Tana Krauss
Tana Marie Krauss, 49, of 667 E. Ashton died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. George Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Doniphan Cemetery.
Mrs. Krauss was cremated. There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Krauss was born on June 12, 1949, in Bayone, N.J., the daughter of Wilbur Donaldson. She was raised by her grandmother in Gibbon and was educated there. She graduated from York High School in 1967.
She married
Charles Walker on June 8, 1970, in Shelton. She was a housewife and mother.
She married
Donald Krauss on March 19, 1992, in Grand Island. She and her husband owned Don's Dental Ceramics.
She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Deanna (Mrs. Tom) Wiseman of Kearney; two sons, Albert Walker of Kearney and Clint Walker of Gibbon; one stepson, Jason Krauss of Greeley, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Kari Harris of Greeley, Colo.; five grandchildren; her father, Wilbur Donaldson Sr. of Shelton; one brother, Wilbur Donaldson Jr. of Grand Island; and one sister, Charlotte McGloghlin of Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother.
