Gene Badura
RAVENNA -- Gene Badura, 76, of Ravenna died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at the St. Francis Skilled Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna.
A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Badura was born May 5, 1922, in Mason City to Frank and Valentina (Schroll) Badura. He went to school in rural Custer County and in Ansley. He moved with his family in 1940 to Clarks, Wyo. He returned to Nebraska in 1952 and farmed for his aunt near Ashton.
He married
Helen Kucera on January 16, 1967, at Ravenna. The couple farmed and raised cattle in Hall, Buffalo and Sherman counties.
He enjoyed playing cards.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; stepmother Katherine Badura of Montana; two stepsons, Ron Kucera and Terry Kucera, both of Grand Island; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elmarie Denny of Clarks, Wyo. and Tereasa Deso of Midland, Texas; four half brothers; and three half sisters.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one grandson.

DONIPHAN -- Joe L. Bowden, 71, of Doniphan died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Doniphan. The Rev. Bill Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedarview cemetery in Doniphan.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Livingston Sondermann Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Levina Lamoree
STROMSBURG -- Levina E. Lamoree, 81, of Stromsburg died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg. The Rev. Keith Brozek will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg.
Carolyn Peterson
STROMSBURG -- Carolyn F. Peterson, 68, of Stromsburg died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stromsburg Baptist Church.
The Rev. Duane Tweeten will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Nellie B. Miller
Nellie B. Miller, 96, of Grand Island died Friday, April 23 at the Park Place Health Care Rehab Center in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Apfel-Butler Geddes Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island with the Rev. Dick Urbach officiating.
Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the Rose Hill cemetery in Callaway. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mrs. Miller was born Jan. 6, 1903 to Edward and Nettie (Tovera) Bridges at Salome Springs, Ark. As a small child she moved to Lodi, Neb. where she grew up and was educated.
She married
Otto Taylor on Oct. 30, 1922 in Hastings, and the couple lived in Callaway. Otto Taylor died in 1961 and Mrs. Miller married
Raymond Miller Dec. 23, 1967 in St. Paul. They lived in GRand Island.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the ARP and the Grand Island Generation Center Senior Citizens Band.
Survivors include one son, Roger Taylor and his wife Sandra, of Grand Island; two grand daughters; one great granddaughter; one step daughter-in-law, Opal Taylor of Callaway; one step sone-in-law, Raymond Miller of Grand Island; step grandchildren and great grandchildren' four sisters, Goldie Shea of Tulsa, Okla., Jean Irvine of Hemet, Calif., Jewell McMurtry of Rio Dell, Cailf., and Mildred Sorensen of Grand Island; and one sister-in-law, Sonja Bridges of Sante Fe, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Nettie Kolbo, brother Otto Bridges and husbands Otto and Raymond.
Gracie M. Hidy
KEARNEY -- Gracie M. Hidy, 64, of Kearney died Friday, April 23, 1999 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Pastor Russ Sommerfeld officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary and then until service time Tuesday afternoon at the church.
Memorials are planned to the Good Samaritan Hospice Program.
Mrs. Hidy was worn Sept. 27, 1934 in Broken Bow to Delwin and Florence (Tyson) Stithem. She attended rural Custer County schools and schools in Broken Bow .
On Nov. 6, 1955 she married
John Franklin Hidy, Jr. in Broken Bow. The couple then moved to Kearney.
She was employed as an autotender at Eaton Corporation for 13 years before she retired.
Survivors include two daughters, Eva Nickel-Drabek (Mrs. Dwayne) of Kearney, and Shelly Doud (Mrs. Roger) of Grand Island; two sons, Bob Hidy and his wife, Diane of Loveland, Colo., and Larry Hidy and his wife, Pam of Kearney; one stepson, William Hidy and his wife Judy of Independence, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Verena Wetter (Mrs. Ray) of Hanover, Kan.; eight grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two sisters, Reta Litchtenberger (Mrs. Jay) of Mason City, and Vickie Childress (Mrs. Tom) of Oklahoma; three brothers, Darwin Stithem and his wife Betty of Overton, Denny Stithem of Mason City and Teddy Stithem of Cozad.
She was preceded in death by her husband,John, her parents, one brother, Nicky Ray and one son-in-law, Butch Nickel.
Marcella C. Murphy
GILTNER -- Marcella C. Murphy, 64, of Giltner died Friday, April 23, 1999 at the St. Francis Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Giltner with the Rev. John Keefe officiating. Burial will be at the Giltner Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Murphy was born Jan. 15, 1935 in Greeley County to Maurice and Margaret (Donnelly) Nealon. She attended school in Greeley County. The family then moved to Grand Island and she attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Aurora High School in 1953. She then attended Grand Island Beauty School. After her schooling she worked as a beautician for Herb and Gert Ross.
On Jan. 3, 1959 she married
Paul J. Murphy in Aurora. She later worked as a cashier for Bosselman's Incorporated, and her hobbies included sewing and traveling.
Mrs. Murphy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Giltner.
Survivors include three daughters, Pamela Walz (Mrs. Gregory) of Seward, Angie Johnson (Mrs. Tim), of Lincoln, and Melissa Wetovick (Mrs. Todd) of Doniphan; one son, Patrick J. Murphy and his wife Kim of Anacortes, Wash.; eight grandchildren; five sisters, Maureen Smollen and Alice Smollen, both of Grand Island, Debbie Eckstrom of Palmer, Rita Boeck of Berlin, Wis., and Betty Pohlmeier of Slater, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Peter, and two sisters, Anna Marie Grudzinski and Helen Mudloff.
