Ruth Kruser
BROKEN BOW - Ruth Marjory Kruser, 84, of Broken Bow died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Fred Roedger will officiate. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
Mrs. Kruser was born on Jan. 20, 1914, at Davenport to Alvie and Effie (Melton) Hawkins. She attended school in Davenport.
She married
Orval "Hap" Kruser on Oct. 19, 1929, at Ogallala. They lived in Arnold for a few years before moving to Broken Bow in 1938. She worked at Broken Bow Laundry and Dry Cleaners for many years. She later worked at Lyddon's Ben Franklin Store in Broken Bow until retiring in the mid-1980s.
After her husbands death in 1986, Mrs. Kruser traveled often. She moved to Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow in October 1990.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow, Latrea Circle, Custer Campers and Royal Neighbors. She had been a member of the Broken Bow Does. She enjoyed bowling and loved to do needle work.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlene (Mrs. Ron) Rathjen of Grand Island and Jacqueline (Mrs. Dennis) Hiatt of Longmont, Colo.; seven grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bud Hawkins of Molalla, Ore.; and two sisters, Grace Stephensen of Sacramento, Calif., and Irene Demer of St. Joseph, Mo.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Fales and Marjory Cramer; an infant son, Terry; another infant son; infant twins, a son and a daughter; three brothers; and three sisters.
Leona Naeve
ALBION - Leona M. Naeve, 82, of Albion died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at her home.
Services are pending with Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Cecil Feehan
COLUMBUS - Cecil F. Feehan, 81, of Columbus died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church in Columbus. The Rev. Dan Keller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventures cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with a Knights of Columbus and parish vigil at 7 p.m., Friday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will continue from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Feehan was born on Dec. 3, 1917, at Spalding to James and Mabel (Leonard) Feehan. He moved with his family to Greeley in 1919. He graduated in 1936 from St. Joseph's Academy at O'Connor, located southeast of Greeley.
He served in the U.S. Armys 82nd Airborne as a first lieutenant from Oct. 24, 1941, to Jan. 8, 1946.
He married
Joan Elliott on Dec. 18, 1945, in Nottingham, England. Following World War II, he returned to Grand Island, where he had worked for International Harvester. He then worked as manager of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Club.
He moved in 1960 to Lincoln, where he served as state adjutant and quartermaster for the VFW. He moved to Columbus in 1963 and owned and operated the Cottonwood Grove Bar until 1990, when he retired.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church, an honorary life member of Knights of Columbus Council 938 and VFW Post 3704.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Thomas Feehan of Columbus; two grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard Feehan of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Feehan.
'Willie' Schaack
WHITE SALMON, Wash. - Wilma Jean "Willie" Schaack, 58, of White Salmon, Wash., died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at her home.
Services were on Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hood River, Ore., with the Rev. James Haugen officiating. Burial was in the White Salmon Cemetery.
Gardner Funeral Home of White Salmon was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund in Mascoutah, Ill., the Mascoutah Public Library or Hospice of the Gorge.
Mrs. Schaack was born on June 15, 1940, in Walla Walla, Wash., to Leo and Hilda (Miller) Bartelt.
She married
Don Schaack in 1959 in Walla Walla. They lived in Mascoutah, Ill., until moving to White Salmon in April 1998. She was a high school librarian in Illinois and was city treasurer.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Deb Schaack of Seattle, Lorrie (Mrs. Eric) Waehner of Libertyville, Ill., and Kathy Schaack of Chicago; three grandchildren; her father, of Walla Walla; and two sisters, Vanda Van Achen of Medical Lake, Wash., and Zella Llewellyn of Alvin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Joseph Hosek
Joseph Hosek, 85, of Grand Island died Saturday, May 16, 1998, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sargent, with the Rev. Bernard Berger officiating. Burial will be in Geranium Cemetery, east of Sargent, with military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Monday at Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the family's choice.
Mr. Hosek was born Aug. 31, 1912, in the Geranium area east of Sargent. He attended school in Sargent and graduated from Sargent High School.
Following graduation, he moved to Omaha, where he worked until he entered the U.S. Air Force in 1942. Mr. Hosek was discharged in 1945 and moved to Grand Island.
He did custodial and housekeeping work at St. Francis Hospital. In 1960, he began taking care of his disabled brother, who was a veteran. They lived in Grand Island, until his brother died in 1993. Mr. Hosek continued to live in Grand Island, until January of this year, when he moved to the Sargent nursing center.
He belonged to St. Mary's Church in Sargent.
Survivors include a brother, Emanuel; three sisters, Agnes Hollingsworth, Mary Hosek and Anna Hosek, all of Sargent.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Emil, and a sister, Emma McGahan.
Esther Randall
GIBBON -- Esther N. Randall, 102, of Gibbon, died Friday, May 15, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Gibbon.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Gibbon. The Rev. John Bartleson will officiate. Burial will be at the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon-Shelton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Randall was born April 26, 1896, in David City to Joseph and Minnie (Rogers) Bolin. She lived in David City and got her early education in there, before the family moved to Buffalo County, where she continued her education at a rural school.
She married
Otis W. Randall on April 11, 1915, in her family home. The Randalls made their home in the Gibbon area. Mr. Randall died in 1965.
She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, the Tuesday Bridge Club, Extension Club and Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), all of Gibbon.
Survivors include two sons, William of Colby, Kan., and Robert of Garner, Iowa; a sister, Nita Nickerson of Elysian, Minn.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Mark; four brothers and two sisters.
