Wilfred Leibli
Anaheim, Calif. -- Wilfred Leibli, 98, of Anaheim, Calif., formerly of Central Nebraska, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, in California.
Graveside services will be on Wednesday at Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster, Calif.
Mr. Leibli was born on Sept. 13, 1899, at Fullerton to John and Mae Leibli. He grew up on his parents' farm at Fullerton and at Belgrade, where he completed school through the ninth grade.
He and his family moved to Greeley County, where he continued his education. He graduated from the business and normal departments of the St. Paul Business School. He also attended graduate school at Kearney State Normal College.
He taught school in Greeley County, North Loup and Harrison.
He married
Edna E. Hermsmeyer on May 24, 1933. The couple lived in Wyoming. In 1943, they moved to Paramount, Calif., where they worked at a Safeway store. He then worked for 10 years at the Angeles Abbey Mausoleum in Compton, Calif. After retirement, he worked part time as a technician at Martin Luther Hospital.
He started working at Garden Park Hospital in Anaheim, Calif., in 1972 and then worked at Humana Hospital in Anaheim. He finally retired at age 86. His wife died on Oct. 19, 1994.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Compton, where he was active in the Sunday school program. He also taught Sunday school at the Scotia Methodist Church when he lived in Scotia.
He loved growing all types of flowers, which he shared with neighbors and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie (Mrs. Charles) Lake and Eva Gramley; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie Sautter of South Dakota.
Verna Plambeck
MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- Verna L. Plambeck, 91, formerly of Edison, Wash., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Mount Vernon Care Center in Mount Vernon, Wash.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Evergreen cemetery in Loup City. Hulbush Funeral Home of Burlington, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans, the Edison Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Plambeck was born on April 6, 1906, in Loup City to William and Cora (Smith) Albers. She attended Nebraska schools.
She married
Henry D. Plambeck on July 24, 1922, in Kearney. Mr. Plambeck died in 1960.
Mrs. Plambeck moved in 1965 to Skagit County, Wash., where she was a member of the Edison Lutheran Church. She was a former member of the Happy Hollow Grange at Berwyn.
Survivors include twin daughters, Bernadine (Mrs. Maurice) Longnecker of Sedro-Woolley, Wash., and Berniece McCullough of Auburn; two sons, Wayne Plambeck of Ansley and Glenn Plambeck of Edison, Wash.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna (Mrs. Floyd) Runge of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Doris Plambeck; one grandson; one sister, Bessie Stevens; and three brothers, Merle, William and Ernest Albers.
Alma Lang
ALBION -- Alma M. Lang, 92, of Albion died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. The Rev. Larry Spomer will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran cemetery in Newman Grove.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Lang was born on March 9, 1906, on a farm west of Newman Grove to Abraham and Anna (Dyb) Tisthammer. She attended District 65 School and graduated from Newman Grove High School. For a few years after graduation, she worked at the Variety Store in Newman Grove. She also attended Augustana College.
She married
John W. Lang on Nov. 27, 1946, in Sioux Falls, S.D. She traveled while Mr. Lang worked in road construction. She also worked at the Hormel plant in Sioux Falls. Mrs. Lang cared for her mother for a number of years. Mr. Lang died on Jan. 22, 1970. Mrs. Lang entered Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in 1982.
She was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid, taught Sunday and Bible school and was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Petersburg.
Survivors include two sisters, Johanna Milan of Omaha and Kristine Henn of Petersburg
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by twin infant daughters; her parents; her stepfather, Ivar Week; and three brothers, Inav, Norman and Novar Week.
Herbert Schuett
CENTRAL CITY -- Herbert J. Schuett, 63, of Central City, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services are pending at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Elvera Rohman
NORTH PLATTE -- Elvera E. Rohman, 86, of North Platte, formerly of St. Paul, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in North Platte.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. Ellen Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Rohman was born on Oct. 17, 1911, in St. Paul to James and Emma (Jonsson) Bisgard. She grew up in St. Paul, attended St. Paul schools and graduated in 1929. She received her teaching certificate from Kearney State Teachers College. She then moved back to St. Paul and taught in rural schools near St. Paul, including Bunker Hill School, until 1943.
She married
Kenneth Rohman on June 3, 1936, in St. Paul. The couple lived northwest of St. Paul, where they raised Black Angus cattle until 1954. They then moved into St. Paul. Her husband died on Nov. 30, 1959. She continued to live in St. Paul, where she worked at the Howard County Hospital, St. Paul Bakery and Southards Implement. She moved to North Platte in February 1997.
She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and playing cards.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul and her church circle. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as worthy matron. She was guardian for Job's Daughters, a member of the Hearth and Home Extension Club and a Girl Scout and 4-H leader.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Mrs. Randy) Brown of North Platte and Kathy (Mrs. Terry) Swain of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Madeline Calvin, Gladys Lukasewski and Edna Hansen.
'Dave' Sheets
HYANNIS -- David "Dave" Leo Sheets, 42, of Hyannis died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998.
Services were on Tuesday at Hyannis High School. The Revs. Roy Monahan and Brud Coy officiated. Burial was in the Hyannis Cemetery.
Mullen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established for a grave marker.
Mr. Sheets was born on Feb. 13, 1956, in North Platte to Donald and Joyce (Jenkins) Sheets. He grew up in Burwell and graduated from Burwell High School in 1974. He worked for Jack Lowe for a couple of years. He then attended Eastern Community College in Torrington, Wyo. After college, he worked in Oklahoma until returning to Nebraska.
He married
Georgeann Darden on Aug. 15, 1981, at Pine Bluffs, Wyo. He was a saddle bronc rider, two-time National High School Champion, as well as a two-time collegiate champion and two-time NSRA champion. Ranching and training horses were his trades.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tucker, Coy and Trey; his parents, of Burwell; three sisters, Marcia (Mrs. Russ) Tiffany and Pat (Mrs. Rob) Burnham, both of Burwell, and Tammi Hendricksen of Lincoln; two brothers, Jim and John, both of Hyannis; and his maternal grandparents, Delbert and Olive Jenkins of Burwell.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
Betty Dobesh
HOT SPRINGS, S.D. -- Betty M. Dobesh, 69, of Hot Springs, S.D., died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at St. Francis Memorial Health Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, S.D. Burial will be in Lucas cemetery at Lucas, S.D.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dobesh was born on May 25, 1929, at Winner, S.D., to Charles and Rose (Jelinek) Kosik. She was educated in Winner.
She married
Leo James Dobesh on Jan. 27, 1945, at Winner. The couple ranched near Herrick, S.D., Crawford and Baker, Mont.
She was a homemaker and small business proprietor. She retired to Hot Springs, S.D., following her husband's death.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and baking.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Dobesh of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Duane Dobesh of Roswell, Ga.; one daughter, Sandra Schott of Alda; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Kosik; and two sisters, Helen Frost and Rosemary Pitchford.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Warren.
