Eldor Langrehr
Eldor F. Langrehr, 79, of Grand Island, died Saturday, July 4, 1998, at the Lakeview Nursing Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Rev. William Voelker officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran cemetery in Worms.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family's choice.
Mr. Langrehr was born July 15, 1918, to William and Marie (Voelker) Langrehr at Clifton, Kans. he received his education in Linn, Kans. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He moved with his family to St. Libory in 1937.
He married
Lula Herrs at Linn, Kan., on Dec. 25, 1939. The couple made their home on a farm near Worms. Mr. Langrehr retired in 1983. Mrs. Langrehr died in 1985.
He married
Loretta Nietfeld in 1986 and they lived in Grand Island.
Mr. Langrehr was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Worms until he moved to Grand Island, when he became a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Grand Island, two daughters, Nadine (Mrs. Harold) Dahling of Elkader, Iowa, and Joyce (Mrs. Richard) Bierbaum of St. Libory; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Otis Langrehr of Parker Dam, Calif.; three step-daughters, Diane (Mrs. Tom) Hulme of Mesa, Ariz., Betty (Mrs. Warren) Lautenschlager of Lincoln; Angie (Mrs. Tom) Zewelski of Dripping Springs, Texas; two stepsons, Gary Nietfeld of Ankeny, Iowa, and Jerry Nietfeld of Grand Island; 11 step-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lula; a grandson, Daryl Bierbaum; a brother, Harvey; and a sister, Elsie Fechtner.
Ida Allbery
NORTH LOUP -- Ida Allbery, 65, of North Loup died Saturday, July 4, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup with the Rev. Christian Mattison officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside cemetery at North Loup.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be given to the Seventh Day Baptist Church or the North Loup Rescue Unit. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangement.
Virgil Furrow
GOTHENBURG -- Virgil Furrow, 68, of Gothenburg died Thursday, July 2, 1998, in Gothenburg.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Mortuary. A memorial has been established to the American Lung Association.
Mr. Furrow was born Nov. 10, 1929, at Broken Bow to Clarence and Bessie Alma (Jenkins) Furrow. He attended school in Broken Bow.
He married
Hazel Trotter. Mr. Furrow worked for Shinn Turkey Ranch near Dunning. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge, Mr. Furrow moved to Dunning and worked for Shinn Turkey Ranch for 30 years. He moved to Gothenburg in 1991 to be closer to his son, Gene.
Mr. Furrow was member of the VFW in Blaine County. He loved gardening, hunting coyotes and bobcats.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel of Gothenburg; three sons, Gene of Gothenburg, Donny of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Kenny of Dunning; a daughter, Evelyn Trowbridge of Fargo, Mich.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Furrow; an infant brother, Robert; and three sisters, Twila Price, Maxine Woods and Vera Martin.
Jo Purchal
CENTRAL CITY -- Jo Purchal of Central City died Saturday, July 4, 1998 at Community Care Center in Central City.
Services are pending with Solt Funeral Home.
Beulah Scofield
CHAMBERS -- Beulah M. Scofield, 70, of Chambers died Saturday, July 4, 1998, at St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burwell. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church in Burwell or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chambers.
Lillie Harris
GREAT BEND, Kan. -- Lillie M. Peck Harris, 90, of Great Bend, Kan., died April 13, 1998, at Cntral Kansas Medical Center at Great Bend, Kan.
Memorial services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (July 11) at the Danish Evangelical Church in Dannevirke. The Rev. Larry Lepper will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the church in care of Donna Pedersen in Elba.
Mrs. Harris was born Sept. 18, 1907 in Elba to Mads and Flora Hansen.
She married
Loyd Peck on Dec. 24, 1927. Mr. Peck preceded her in death.
She married
Paul Harris on May 23, 1957 in Cheyenne, Wyo. Mr. Harris died in October 1981.
Survivors include one son, Donald peck of penrose, Colo.; two daughters, Marjorie Garrrett of Great Bend, Kan. and Virginia Kucera of Cheyenne, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Thorwald and Harry Hansen; two sisters, Clare Holt and Alma Holt; and two granddaughters.
Mary Marshall
PAPILLION -- Mary F. Marshall, 87, of Papillion, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. Burial will be at the Valley View cemetery in Genoa. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mrs. Marshall was born June 26, 1911, at Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Roy and Maude (Walker) Renshaw. She attended school at Crescent, Iowa. She married
Harold Theodore Blair in 1928 at Genoa. They had two sons. Mr. Blair died in 1938.
She married
William Marshall in Grand Island in 1939. The Marshalls had one daughter.
Mrs. Marshall owned and operated the Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Fullerton from 1948 to 1966, when she and her husband retired and moved to Grand Island.
They moved to Omaha in 1971, where they lived until Mr. Marshall died on May 2, 1981. Mrs. Marshall moved to Junction City, Kans. in December of 1982 to live with her daughter. She lived with her daughter 15 years, until moving to Papillion six months ago.
Mrs. Marshall was a past member of the Fullerton United Methodist Church, the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce and the Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, James Blair of Omaha; a daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Rex) Fletcher of Junction City, Kan.; a sister, Sybill Koch of Lincoln; a brother, Elmore Porter; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son, Theodore Harold Blair; and a sister, Audrey Renshaw.
Ethel Imlay
Ethel I. Imlay, 71, of 719 W. 12th died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kleine Funeral Home. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Foster Grandparents Program.
Mrs. Imlay was born on Dec. 17, 1927, at Diagonal, Iowa, to Willis A. and Mary (Spellman) Heyden. She grew up and was educated in Diagonal, graduating from high school there. She worked in Creston, Iowa, as a telephone operator and at a local grocery store.
She married
William Imlay on Sept. 24, 1953, in Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island, where she was active doing crafts, knitting and needlework. Mr. Imlay died in 1987.
Mrs. Imlay worked at the U-Save deli and as a sample clerk. She also was as a Foster Grandparent working out of Knickrehm Elementary School.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Genealogy Society of Nebraska and Grand Island. She served as a volunteer for the YWCA and worked for the Northwest High School Booster Club for many years.
Survivors include one son, Donald "Michael" of Grand Island; one daughter, Elizabeth "Ann" Wood of Grand Island; one granddaughter; and three sisters, Juanita Seiver of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Mildred Whited of Creston, Iowa, and Georgia Andrews of Cheyenne, Wyo.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy.
