Leona Naeve
ALBION -- Leona Margreta Naeve, 82, of Albion died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. The Rev. Brian Bergum will officiate. Burial will be in Timbercreek cemetery in Belgrade.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Naeve was born on June 16, 1916, at Belgrade to George and Anna (Oldigs) Hellbusch. She attended elementary school at Redwing School near Belgrade and then attended Cedar Rapids High School.
She married
Louis Naeve on Oct. 21, 1936. They lived and farmed south of Belgrade until 1945, when they moved to Lyons. They later moved to Craig and farmed there until moving to a farm east of Albion in 1953. They moved into Albion, where they owned and operated the Huddle Bar until retiring in 1971. They moved to the Harmony Homes Apartments in 1991.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Albion.
She is survived by three daughters, Marlene Erickson of Kent, Wash., Aljo (Mrs. Paul) Gigax of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Radene (Mrs. Larry) Temme of Petersburg; three sons, Larry of Aurora, Roger of Grand Island and Jimmy Dean of Columbus; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hermine "Mimi" Hoffman of Belgrade.
She was preceded in death by her husband; seven brothers, Herman, Helmouth, Rudie, George, Otto, Edwin and Louie; and two sisters, Marie Ratchje and Irma Landers.
Margaret Edgar
OROVILLE, Calif. -- Margaret Edgar, 87, of Oroville, Calif., formerly of Central City, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at the Oroville hospital.
She was cremated. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Edgar was born on April 14, 1911, at Central City to Elwood and Sarah (Beetem) Dughman. She grew up and was educated in Central City.
She married
Alfred Edgar on June 14, 1928. They lived in Central City until moving to Albany, Calif., in 1941.
She worked at Hinks Department Store for many years as a buyer and did a lot of traveling.
Mr. Edgar died on Dec. 26, 1994. Mrs. Edgar remained in her home until the spring of 1998, when she moved near her son in Oroville.
Survivors include one son, Dale of Oroville; two grandsons; and one sister, Maureen French of San Mateo, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, four sisters and one brother.
Helen Koziol
LOUP CITY -- Helen V. Koziol, 93, of Loup City died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reggie Urban will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Loup City.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service.
Memorials are suggested to Rose Lane Home or the donor's choice.
Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Koziol was born Feb. 28, 1905, to Frank and Sophia (Kula) Jaros at Genoa. As a small child she moved with her parents to Sherman County. She attended School District No. 57. The family later moved to Valley County where she attended Davis Creek High School.
She married
Vince Koziol on Feb. 4, 1930, at Loup City. The couple first lived in Grand Island, later moving to Loup City. In July 1971, they moved to West Side Park in Loup City. Mr. Koziol died June 6, 1980. Mrs. Koziol continued to live at West Side Park until January 1992 when she moved to Rose Lane Home.
She was a member of St. Josaphat's Church in Loup City,the Council of Catholic Women and the Rosary Sodality.
She is survived by one son, John Koziol, of Oakdale, Minn.; and four grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Koziol was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two sisters, Rose Zoucha and Ann Morris; and four brothers, Tom, George, Joe and Lonnie Jaros.
William Lukefahr
GREELEY -- William J. Lukefahr, 82, of Greeley died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at his home in rural Greeley.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley, The Rev. Gerald Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in the Greeley Sacred Heart cemetery with military rites conducted by the Charles Martin Post No. 186 of Greeley.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Church with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart School. T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lukefahr was born March 31, 1916, to John J. and Sarah (Fox) Lukefahr at Bay City, Texas. In 1922 the family moved to Greeley. For 10 years he lived on a farm a mile southeast of Greeley and he attended Sacred Heart School.
From 1940 to 1945, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Medical Corp during World War II. He as stationed in the United States and England.
After the service, he returned to Greeley. He married
Grace Buck on Oct. 26, 1962, at Greeley. The couple spent their married
life in Greeley.
He was the water commissioner for the city of Greeley for a number of years, and he also worked as a heavy equipment operator for construction companies in Grand Island. Mrs. Lukefahr died Sept. 19, 1990. For the last year and a half, Mr. Lukefahr has lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, with his brother.
Mr. Lukefahr was a member of the church and the American Legion, and he belonged to a deep sea fishing club that fished off the coast of Washington. He enjoyed gardening, horse racing and visiting with friends.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Lyions, of Grand Island; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Edgar J. Lukefahr of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and one sister, Aileen Murphy, of Denver, Colo.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sylvester Lukefahr.
Bernard Meyer
SCOTIA -- Bernard L. Meyer, 62, of Scotia died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mira Valley Evangelical United Methodist Church (located nine miles west of the Highway 22 and Highway 11 junction west of Scotia, and then 1 mile north and 1/2 mile west) with the Rev. Murry Johnston officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope cemetery at Scotia. with graveside military honors by the Reuben Beck American Legion Post No. 150 of Scotia.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Peters funeral home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the church, the Scotia rescue unit or Howard County Community Hospital for a special hospice room.
Mr. Meyer was on born June 1, 1935, to George and Esther (Sautter) Meyer on a farm east of Scotia. He attended No. 2 N School District Fish Creek for 10 years and then graduated in 1952 from Scotia Consolidated High School. He then attended diesel mechanics school in Chicago and returned to Scotia where he worked at the Mobile Gas Station.
He served in the U.S. Army from August 1957 to August 1959. Upon his discharge he returned to Scotia and worked for the Greeley County Roads Department.
He married
Norma Jean Pugsley on June 9, 1962, at Lincoln. The couple lived their entire married
life in Scotia.
In 1979, Mr. Meyer and Gene Jacobsen formed the JM Construction Co. and they built bridges in Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado. In 1988 he went to work for Vlach Construction in Scotia operating heavy equipment and hauling dirt and gravel. He was involved in hauling dirt to the Davis Creek Dam and Calamus Dam projects.
He had served as the Greeley County highway superintendent since its inception and in 1994 also became the Howard County superintendent. He was serving in both these capacities at the time of his death. He was also a federal licensed bridge inspector.
Mr. Meyer was a former member of the Salem United Methodist Church of which he held many church offices. Upon the closing of that church in December 1996, he joined the Mira Valley Evangelical United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Nebraska Association of County Engineers, Highway Superintendents and Surveyors. He served on the central Nebraska Community Housing Authority. He was a member of the Scotia volunteer fire department since 1963, having held all offices in the fire department. He was currently on its board of directors. He was a charter member since 1974 of the Scotia volunteer rescue squad and was a past president. He was a member of the Mt. Hope cemetery board.He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr Meyer is survived by his wife; one daughter, Cilinda (Mrs. Ronald) Scheideler of Ord; two sons, Mark Meyer of Wahoo and Jay Meyer of Scotia; four grandchildren; one sister, Erma (Mrs. Harold) Goldfish of Scotia; and one brother, Richard Meyer of Scotia.
O'Dean Perry
FAIRBURY -- O'Dean Perry, 67, formerly of St. Paul, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln.
Services are pending with Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul.
