Richard Brundage
Richard A. Brundage, 49, of Grand Island, formerly of Cairo, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo. The Rev. Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery in Cairo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Brundage was born on June 7, 1949, in Cairo to Leslie and Marlene (Brisbane) Brundage. He grew up in Cairo and attended Cairo schools. He then worked for different companies in Grand Island.
He married
Linda S. Schreiner on May 21, 1977, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island until Mrs. Brundage's death on Nov. 7, 1979.
Mr. Brundage then moved back to Cairo and worked for Rainbow Bakery in Grand Island. He moved to California for five years and worked as a mechanic and automobile exporter. He worked for Cornhusker Toyota in Grand Island until his health recently failed him.
He enjoyed antique automobiles.
Survivors include his parents, of Cairo; one brother, Leslie Jr. of Cairo; and two sisters, Jean Ann (Mrs. James) Bernth and Joy Lynn Wenzl, both of Grand Island.
Mary Miller
Mary Anna Miller, 95, of Grand Island, formerly of Loup City, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Evergreen cemetery in Loup City. The Rev. Heidi Revelo will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Peters Funeral Home in Loup City.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Miller was born on May 9, 1903, on a farm southwest of Litchfield to Adolph W. and Mary E. (Meller) Kipp. She grew up on the family farm and attended Sherman County rural schools. Upon completing her education, she worked as a housekeeper for local families and later worked at Nordlings Store in Litchfield.
She married
John Miller in June 1929 at Grand Island. The couple lived in the Loup City area throughout their marriage. She worked as a waitress in Loup City for many years.
Mr. Miller died on Oct. 29, 1963. Mrs. Miller continued to live in Loup City until July 1995, when she moved to Lebensraum Retirement Home in Grand Island. She moved to Tiffany Square Care Center in October 1997.
Survivors include two nephews, Arthur Chamberlin of Mason City and Clyde Chamberlin of Arlington; and three nieces, Louise Williams of Kearney, Norma Chamberlin of Omaha and Effie Mae Beller of Benkelman.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Adolph, Edward and William Kipp; and four sisters, Elizabeth Hughes, Bertha Chamberlin, Lena McKinney and Amelia Kipp.
Jean Arnold
SARGENT -- Jean Arnold, 72, of Sargent died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Miller. The Revs. A.L. Cole and Dale Coates will officiate. Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent.
Memorials are suggested to the Sargent, Sumner, Miller and Mason City rescue units.
Margaret Collier
BROKEN BOW -- Margaret Collier, 89, of Broken Bow died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Ruby Donaldson
ST. PAUL -- Ruby H. Donaldson, 84, of St. Paul died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home in Palmer. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Robert Grigsby
CENTRAL CITY -- Robert Lee "Bub" Grigsby, 67, of Central City died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, in Columbus.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Central City. The Revs. Dale Sallans and Debra Tompsett-Welch will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Mr. Grigsby was born on March 4, 1931, to Ray and Helen (Moore) Grigsby. He grew up and attended grade school in the Hamilton County area.
He married
Raymona Jean Page on Oct. 15, 1950, in Central City. The couple moved to Central City that same year. He worked at various jobs. He entered the U.S. Army in 1952 and returned in 1953 after 14 months in Korea.
After returning from the service, he began farming and gradually going into custom work for Lone Tree Builders. He dug crawl spaces for the Lone Tree Homes. He also owned a fleet of dump trucks that delivered supplies to the Calamus Dam and Davis Creek projects. He retired from farming in 1996 and continued custom work with help from his family.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Steve, Ronald and Rick, all of Central City; one daughter, Peggy (Mrs. Brad) Wells of Central City; eight grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerome "Bill" Grigsby of Aurora; and four sisters, Lizzie Critel and Bessie Brahmsteadt, both of York, Irene Budnick of Hampton and Betty (Mrs. Marvel) Land of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, A.R., Perry, Donald and an infant brother.
Sarah Osborne Hilliard
AURORA -- Sarah Leone Osborne Hilliard, 34, of Aurora died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at Aurora Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Joe Scahill will officiate. Burial will be in the Chapman Cemetery.
Mrs. Hilliard was born on March 26, 1964, in Crete to Arthur and Carol (Chase) Osborne. She grew up in Merrick County and attended Central City schools. She received her General Educational Development certificate and licensed practical nursing degree from Southeast Community College in Lincoln.
She was working at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. She was involved with her son's Boy Scout troop.
Survivors include two sons, Jerami Osborne and Devin Hilliard, both of Aurora; one daughter, Jez Lewis of Aurora; four brothers, Richard Osborne of Grand Island, Dennis Osborne of York, David Osborne of Giltner and Dean Osborne of Aurora; five sisters, Suzanne (Mrs. Harley) Appel of Marysville, Kan., Docia (Mrs. Bob) Wilson of Harvard, Diane Decker of Prague, Cindy (Mrs. Mark) Behmer of Norfolk and Amy Osborne of Central City.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Helen Osentowski
ORD -- Helen Osentowski, 93, of Ord died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Revs. Jim Warner and Stanley Gorak will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m., with a rosary at 7:30 p.m., Friday at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the nursing home or to St. Mary's Catholic School.
Mrs. Osentowski was born on Aug. 9, 1905, at Valley County to Thomas and Katherine (Papiernik) Zulkoski. She was educated in the Elyria area and graduated from Ord High School in 1925.
She married
Joseph Osentowski on Aug. 16, 1932, at the Ord Catholic Church. Mr. Osentowski died on Oct. 5, 1983. Mrs. Osentowski worked for several years as a saleswoman for People's Store, Chases Toggery, Brown McDonalds and Moyer's.
She was a member of Ord Lodge 208 B.P.O. Does and treasurer of the Valley County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Survivors include one sister, Stella (Mrs. Syl) Shotkoski.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Louie and Edwin; and seven sisters, Clara Zulkoski, Dora Matya, Wanda Matya, Nora Jurzenski, Anna Spotanski, Martha Kokes and Angie Janus.
