Kathryn Muller
COLUMBUS - Kathryn June Muller, 72, of Columbus died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Word of Life Church in Columbus. The Rev. Terry I. Daffenbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery at Columbus.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Further visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Muller was born on June 23, 1926, at Custer, S.D., to Dalmar and Eva (Gorton) Rawhouser. She moved with her family to Columbus in 1932 and attended Columbus public schools.
She married
Earl W. Muller on May 5, 1944, in Marysville, Kan.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed interior decorating and gardening.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 3704.
Survivors include four sons, Russell of Gillette, Wyo., and Rodney, Kim and Kevin, all of Columbus; four daughters, Sharon Mohrmann, Kandence (Mrs. Bernard) Laska, Debra Muller and Brenda Muller, all of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Boruch of Omaha; and two brothers, Jim Rawhouser and David Rawhouser, both of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by her husband; one granddaughter; three brothers, Gerald, Harold "Jack" and Leonard Rawhouser; and one sister, Harriet "Sally" Recek.
Dean Ellsworth Olson
NORTH PLATTE - Dean Ellsworth Olson, 81, of North Platte died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte. Pastor Thomas G. Hyde will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with Elks service at graveside.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to B.P.O. Elks Lodge 985, the Hershey United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
Mr. Olson was born on April 19, 1917, in Grand Island to Carl Ellsworth and Annie Lillian (Swensson) Olson. He grew up in Ravenna and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1936. He attended Hastings College for a short time.
He drove a bus for United Motor Ways and Interstate Transit Line. He began working for Union Pacific Railroad in 1939 and retired as an engineer in 1982.
Mr. Olson married
Helen Genevieve "Peggy" Fisher in 1939 in West Point. She died in 1980.
He married
Nora Davis Lawyer in 1981 in Fort Collins, Colo.
He was a member of the Hershey United Methodist Church, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 985, Eagles Aerie 2839, the German-American Club, United Transportation Union, Rolling Platters, National Railroad Camping Association and the Union Pacific Old-timers.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Segal of Englewood, Colo., and Meri Olson of College Station, Texas; a son, Morris Dean Olson of Phoenix; a stepson, Kenneth Lawyer of Longmont, Colo.; eight grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Josephine Anderson of Pasco, Wash., Donna Staab of Wanachee, Wash., and Karleen Larson of Doniphan; and three brothers, Charles Olson of St. Louis, Melvin Olson of Quincy, Ill., and Carl Olson of Phoenix.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Fowler; and two brothers, George and Milton Olson.
Viola Reiser
VALENTINE - Viola Ruth Reiser, 69, of Valentine died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services were on Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Valentine. The Rev. Joe Fricke officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery in Valentine.
Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Reiser was born on June 10, 1929, at Valentine to Henry and Ruth Pavlik. She started school in Spring Creek, S.D., attended seventh and eighth grades at North Star and graduated from high school in Crookston in 1949.
She married
William R. Reiser on May 12, 1950, in Valentine. The couple ranched near Brownlee. After her husband's death, Mrs. Reiser moved her family to Thedford, Crookston and, in 1960, to Valentine.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed viewing wildlife, reading, flowers and gardening.
Survivors include one son, Ron of Grand Island; one daughter, Bonnie (Mrs. Brad) McCormick of Valentine; two grandchildren; one brother, Bud of Kilgore; and four sisters, Eleanor (Mrs. Charles) Judy of Minnesota, Helen (Mrs. Lyle) Haas of Valentine, Bonnie (Mrs. Keith) Boyer of Hot Springs, S.D., and Annie (Mrs. Jerry) Turgeon of Omaha.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bob.
Leonard Fleischer
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Leonard Fleischer, 87, of Columbus, former Fleischer Manufacturing chairman of the board, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at Palm Springs, Calif.
Services are pending with Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus.
Merl Bennink
Merl P. Bennink, 84, of Grand Island died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery's Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bennink was born on July 22, 1914, at Leighton, Iowa, to Doris and Jane (Van Roekel) Bennink. In 1916, the family moved to Armour, S.D., where he grew up and was educated. He graduated and moved to Grand Island in 1933 and attended Grand Island Business College.
He married
Leona Trupp on Nov. 7, 1937, at Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island. He owned the Grand Island Egg Co. and was a partner in a Hertz Rent-A-Car business. He went to work for the state Tax Department in 1967 as an auditor and retired in 1976.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. His hobbies included model trains, stained glass and photography for several real estate firms. He also was a past member of the Liederkranz and the Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Gary Bennink of Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter, Deanna (Mrs. Larry) Williams of Grand Island; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy (Mrs. Wayne) Woltz of Daytona, Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Terri Ann Dent
DAYTON, Wyo. -- Terri Ann Dent, 43, of Dayton, Wyo., formerly of the Burwell/Sargent area, died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Sheridan County Hospital in Sheridan, Wyo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Evangelical Free Church in Sargent. The Rev. Walter Collins will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery at Sargent.
Rhoads Funeral Home in Sargent is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Dent was born on Oct. 15, 1955, in San Antonio to Gene F. and Mary C. (Cathey) James. She grew up in different parts of the United States as she traveled with her father, who was in the service. She graduated from Los Amigos High School in Fountain Valley, Calif.
She married
Floyd Carl Augustyn in November 1973 in Las Vegas. They lived in California and then moved to Ord.
She married
Eldon Slangal on Aug. 19, 1983, at Fort Hartsuff near Ord. She lived in Sargent and worked as a CSM. She later injured her back and worked in various cafes.
She married
Darold Dent on June 17, 1998, in Billings, Mont. She lived there until a month ago, when she moved to Dayton, Wyo.
She was a member of the Christian Church in Burwell.
She enjoyed all types of sports, mainly bowling and fishing. She liked to cook.
Survivors include three daughters, Bobbi (Mrs. Greg) Brooks with the U.S. Army in Germany and Crystal Augustyn and Tina Slangal, both of Sargent; one granddaughter; her mother, of Brook, Ind.; and two brothers, Jerry James of California and Larry James of Brook, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Mary "Aunt Pete."
