Nevella Braman
SHELTON -- Nevella S. Braman, 77, of Shelton died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at the Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Third City Christian Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Scott Jones will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Forrest Lawn cemetery in Omaha.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.
Memorials are suggested to the Shelton Fire Department Rescue Unit or Nebraska Heart Fund.
Mrs. Braman was born on Sept. 12, 1920, at Elmo, Mo., to Houston and Carrie (Sloan) Honaker. She graduated from Elmo High School.
She married
Elmer E. Braman on Dec. 17, 1938, at Plattsmouth. The couple lived and farmed at Burlington Junction, Mo. They moved to Omaha in 1945 and to Shelton in 1984.
She was a member of the Third City Christian Church of Grand Island and the Rebecca Lodge, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary and Ladies Auxiliary of Patriarch Militants, all of Kearney.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Larry of Wood River; one daughter, Joyce (Mrs. Jerry) Carroll of Shelton; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Albin Czarnek
LOUP CITY -- Albin J. Czarnek, 70, of Loup City died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reggie Urban will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Loup City.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service, Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Czarnek was born on Jan. 28, 1927, on a farm northeast of Loup City to Stanley and Martha (Czaplewski) Czarnek. He attended Sherman County District 45 School.
He worked for various farmers in the Loup City area for many years before retiring due to health reasons. He then moved to Westside Park in Loup City.
He enjoyed polka music.
He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Leonard Czarnek of Stanton and Harry Czarnek of Houston.
He was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
Emma Fritson
Wood River -- Emma J. Fritson, 95, formerly of Hildreth, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Macon. The Revs. Baron and Nancy Cole will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Fritson was born on April 19, 1902, near Hildreth to George and Hempe (Osterbuhr) Reil. She attended District 36 School.
She married
John B. Fritson on Dec. 23, 1922. They lived on his father's farm near Macon. Mr. Fritson died on March 17, 1978.
Mrs. Fritson lived in Hildreth from 1989 to January 1995, when she moved to Grandview Manor in Campbell. She moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River in November 1996.
She was a homemaker and an active member of the Women of the ELCA of Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son, Johnny Fritson of Macon; two daughters, DeLayne Frecks of Hildreth and Evonne Kubert of Wood River; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons and two grandchildren.
Clara Fraka
WESLACO, Texas -- Clara Marie Fraka, 82, of Weslaco, Texas, formerly of Belgrade, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, in Weslaco.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Belgrade Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mrs. Fraka was born on May 10, 1915, on a farm in Nance County to Burton and Clara Imus.
She married
Delbert L. Fraka on Oct. 29, 1934. She worked with her husband at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant during World War II. She moved to a farm in Greeley County in 1949. They moved to a farm west of Belgrade in 1950 and into Belgrade in 1962. She was an avid fisherwoman while living in Nebraska.
After spending several winters in Texas, they moved to Country Sunshine RV Park in Weslaco in 1989. She was very active at the shuffleboard courts, receiving her "Exper" rating at the age of 80.
Survivors include one son, Lyle Fraka of El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Sharon Dee Wilkins of Frankfort, Ky.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Hazel Winfrey, Grace Anderson and Vivian Squires.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, three brothers and three sisters.
William Seaman
MINNEAPOLIS -- William "Bill" Seaman, 72, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer for the Minneapolis Star, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997.
Services were Wednesday in Minneapolis.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Minneapolis or the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
Seaman won the 1959 Pulitzer Prize for photography.
He became interested in photography as a teen-ager in Grand Island. He set up a darkroom at his high school. He was a 1943 graduate of Grand Island Senior High. After graduating, he worked briefly at a photo studio.
Seaman accepted a job with the Minneapolis Star in 1945 and worked there until 1982, when the Star merged with the Tribune.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one son, Larry; and one granddaughter.
'Al' Bowman Jr.
Alverdo "Al" P. Bowman Jr., 77, of 4265 Vermont Ave., died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Revs. Julie Bringelson, Scott Jones and Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be in Plainfield cemetery in Bradshaw.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Leonard Bugay
FULLERTON -- Leonard P. Bugay, 74, of Fullerton died Wednesday, Dec., 24, 1997, at the Litzenberg Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Richard Whiteing will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. vigil service, all at Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mr. Bugay was born Oct. 5, 1923, at Clarks to John and Rosie (Shemek) Bugay. In 1929 he moved with his family north of Fullerton where he received his education. He lived on the farm his whole life and spent it farming.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church.
Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Zywiec of Fullerton.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence.
