'Web' Augustine
Webster "Web" P. Augustine, 79, of Grand Island died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at the St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Dr. Carl Hansen of Midland College and the Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or the donor's choice.
Mr. Augustine was born Sept. 24, 1918, to Ernest and Parnelia (Spethman) Augustine in Grand Island. He grew up and attended school in Grand Island.
Following high school, he received a degree from Midland College in Fremont.
He entered the U.S. Army on July 10, 1943, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 13, 1944.
Mr. Augustine married
Donna Burke on June 17, 1943.
He was the owner of Augustine Printing Company from 1940 until his retirement in 1968. Mrs. Augustine died on Jan. 11, 1977.
He married
Ruby Lehmann on March 8, 1979, in Grand Island.
Mr. Augustine was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Shriner Tehama Temple, Boy Scouts of America, the Grand Island Rotary Club and was active in many local civic organizations.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Joline Whitehead of Yuma, Colo.; one son, James of Alda; two stepsons, Warren Lehmann of Las Vegas and Bruce Lehmann of Lincoln; one sister, Mercedes Augustine of Grand Island; four grandchildren, six step grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Kim Mallory
Kim L. Mallory, 46, of 1614 W. Division died Friday, Dec. 26, 1997, at his home following a long illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church or the Evangelical Free Church.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mallory was born Dec. 25, 1951, in Mullen to Stan and Jerre (Bailey) Mallory. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1970. He attended the University of Nebraska, where he received a bachelors degree in microbiology.
After graduating from the university, he moved to Steamboat Springs, Colo. He moved back to Grand Island in 1980.
Mr. Mallory worked with his father at Business Telecommunication System, Inc., where he served as vice president. He then lived in North Platte and Lincoln.
He married
Stacy Quinn on Oct. 22, 1994, in Lincoln. The couple moved to Grand Island in July 1995.
Mr. Mallory attended the Evangelical Free Church.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Morgan of Grand Island; his parents of Grand Island; one sister, Cheryl (Mrs. Chip) Carmichael of Littleton, Colo.; and one brother, Steven Mallory of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jay and Esther Bailey; and his paternal grandparents, John and Faye Mallory.
Rose Ann Phieffer-Wodrich
Rose Ann Phieffer-Wodrich, 56, of 522 W. First St. died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at her home after an extended battle with cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Tom Ryan and Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. rosary, at the Kleine Funeral Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Phieffer-Wodrich was born Aug. 16, 1941, to Arthur and Rose (Hughs) Boehl. She graduated from Central Catholic High School and from St. Francis School of Nursing.
She then attended Kearney State College, where she received her bachelor's of science and her master's of science degrees in education.
She married
William Pfieffer on June 15, 1965. She later married
Michael Wodrich on June 29, 1991, in Billings, Mont. They lived in Riverside, Calif., where she worked as a drug rehabilitation counselor.
The family moved to Grand Island two and a half years ago.
She was a member of the Catholic faith and active in Christian evangelism, which included journeys to Russia and China. She was also active in the Abundant Life Christian Center.
Survivors include her husband; one son William "Billy" Pfieffer Jr., of Omaha; two daughters, Julie Pfieffer of Davis, Calif., and Erin Swinford of Riverside, Calif.; six stepchildren, Brian of Rapelje, Mont., Daniel of the U.S. Marines, Richard, Sharon and Robert, all of Riverton, Mont., and Steven Wodrich, at home; her mother, Rose Boehl of Grand Island; one sister, Mary Schuster of Cornelius, Ore.; and two brothers, William Boehl of Yosilart, Mo., and Lee Boehl of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Robert Anderson
STROMSBURG -- Robert Stanley Anderson, 69, of Stromsburg died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg. The Rev. Keith Brozek will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Anderson-Dodds-Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg.
Mr. Anderson was born on June 24, 1928, in Polk County west of Stromsburg to Ernest John "EJ" and Julia Walborg (Thorell) Anderson.
He helped his parents on the family farm. He was later employed at the Stromsburg feed mill, Stromsburg elevator and the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg. He helped local farmers from time to time.
Mr. Anderson was a lifetime member of the Salem Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed animals and high school sports.
Survivors include one brother, Willard of Stromsburg; and two sisters, Jeanette (Mrs. Marvin) Hengelfelt of Stromsburg, and Dora Jane (Mrs. Ronald) Swanson of Rapid River, Mich.
He was preceded in death by on brother, Elton B. Anderson; and one sister, Josephine Branting.
Inez Wright
AURORA -- Inez Wright, 96, of Aurora died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at the Aurora Memorial Hospital in Memorial Community Care.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Higby Mortuary in Aurora. The Rev. Peggy Michael-Rush will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
Mrs. Wright was born July 25, 1901, to Charles and Martha (Sharp) Jemison in Aurora. She grew up near Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School. She then taught country school in the Giltner area.
She married
Oliver Wright on July 4, 1920, in Giltner. He died on Feb. 9, 1955.
After their marriage, the couple lived in Palmer and moved to Tacoma, Wash., in 1941. Later, they returned to Nebraska to live in Auburn and Lincoln.
Following her husband's death, Mrs. Wright worked in sales in Lincoln at Golds and Miller & Paine department stores. In 1988, she moved to Aurora to be near her daughter.
For the past two years, she has lived at the Memorial Community Care in the Aurora Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed her flower garden and belonged to several flower clubs.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail (Mrs. Claude) Scott of Aurora; two sisters, Caroline Nydegger and Jean Jemison, both of Aurora; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Earl and LeRoy Jemison; and one sister, Agnes Schrock.
