Delores Petersen
HAMPTON -- Delores Jean Petersen, 68, of Hampton died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. The Rev. Anna White will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mrs. Petersen was born on April 8, 1929, on her parents' farm near Marquette to Albert and Agnes (Petersen) Andersen. She grew up in the Marquette and Kronborg area and graduated from Marquette High School in 1946. She then attended Grand View College at Des Moines, Iowa, and received an associate degree in liberal arts. Her degree was presented in 1996.
She returned to the Marquette area and worked for the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce for a short time and later for Contryman and Associates until her marriage.
She married
Raymond Petersen on June 4, 1950, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. They moved to Seattle, where she worked for Westinghouse Corp.
They moved back to the Kronborg area in 1953 and began farming. She began helping her husband in the floor covering and formica trade. They became one of the first husband and wife floor covering teams in a wide area.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Kronborg, served as church organist and was a youth sponsor. She was also a leader of Danish folk dancing.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Lyle of Lincoln and Clinton of Marquette; five grandchildren; and one brother, Ardean Andersen of Marquette.
Fern Tibbs
ALDA -- Fern I. Tibbs, 58, of Alda died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Roland Going will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
She was born on May 21, 1939, at Grand Island to Elmer and Irene (Florke) Tibbs. She grew up and was educated in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1958.
She later worked at Bullet Weights in Alda for 13 years and was a home health care provider.
She was a member of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed gardening and her cat.
Survivors include a son, Brian Knefelkamp of Aurora; two daughters, Debra Martin of Harvey, N.D., and Pamela Harders of Alda; six grandchildren; her mother, of Wood River; three sisters, Joyce Andersen, Beverly Solliday and Shirley Hernoud, all of Lincoln; and one brother, Lyle Tibbs of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Phyllis.
Edward Wolf
BROKEN BOW -- Edward T. Wolf, 86, of Broken Bow died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Cliff Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the church or to Rose Lane Nursing Home.
Mr. Wolf was born on April 11, 1911, on the family farm near Alma to Adam and Eldora (Tracy) Wolf. He attended District 74 School through the fourth grade. The family moved to Alma, where he finished grade school and graduated from high school.
He married
Gladys C. Weinand on March 4, 1933, in Holdrege. He farmed in the Alma area until 1943, then purchased a farm in the Elk Creek community southwest of Mason City. They moved to Broken Bow in 1969.
Mr. Wolf was a member of the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, Broken Bow Elks Lodge 1688, Cosmopolitans, Lions Club, Custer County Grange and Custer Campers.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dudley of Mason City and Richard of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one daughter, Margery (Mrs. Lloyd) Trew of Kearney; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Carl 'Hummer' Wolsleben
LEXINGTON -- Carl L. "Hummer" Wolsleben, 43, of Lexington, formerly of Sargent, died from a longtime illness Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Lexington. The Rev. Tom Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Lexington.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to his children for their education.
Mr. Wolsleben was born on Jan. 27, 1955, at Sargent to Gaylord and Darlene (Anderson) Wolsleben. He grew up and attended school in Sargent. He graduated from Sargent High School in 1973 and studied auto mechanics at Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte.
He moved to Lexington in 1974 and worked for Northern Propane, which later changed its name to Ferrelgas Propane.
He married
Maxine Larsen on April 5, 1975, in Sargent. The couple lived in Lexington. He joined the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department in 1989, serving as president and vice president. He also served as manager of Dawson County Speedway for one year.
He retired in October 1994 because of poor health.
He was a member of Black Sheep Squadron in Lexington. He enjoyed camping, car racing and flying his model airplane.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Jake of Lexington; one daughter, Amy of Lexington; his mother, of Lexington; and four sisters, Donna (Mrs. Roger) Wenquist and Cynthia (Mrs. Mark) Larsen, both of Broken Bow, Vicki (Mrs. Lyle) Hendrickson of Omaha and Linda Wolsleben of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Jack Berger
GREELEY, Colo. -- Jack D. Berger, 33, of Greeley, Colo., formerly of St. Paul, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Greeley, Colo.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Donald Vorhees will officiate. Burial will be in the Loup Fork cemetery near Boelus.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Berger was born on May 21, 1964, at St. Paul to Dwayne and Sally (MacDougall) Berger. He grew up in the Dannebrog area and attended Centura schools.
He worked at Monfort in Grand Island for 10 years and worked as a meat cutter at Wal-Mart in Greeley, Colo., for the last two years.
He enjoyed camping, the mountains and singing.
Survivors include a son, Matthew, and a daughter, Rebecca, both of Hastings; his parents; five brothers, Bryan Berger of Grand Island, Rod Berger of Grant, Jeff Berger of Emporia, Kan., Doug Brown of Omaha and Jeremy Brown of Columbus; one sister, Colleen of Omaha; and grandparents, Trilby Berger of Dannebrog and Darrel and Alice Wright of Yuma, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Preston Berger, Walter MacDougall and Robert Paddock.
Bernard Dunning
Bernard Dunning, 86, of Grand Island died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church with a 7:30 p.m. rosary.
