Dale Perkins
CENTRAL CITY -- Lloyd Dale Perkins, 76, of Central City died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Central City. The Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch will officiate. Burial will be in the Bradshaw Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Solt Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Perkins was born on Nov. 2, 1921, in Lindsay to Lloyd Dwight and Edna Dorthea (Dalbey) Perkins. He grew up in various Nebraska towns and attended school in Polk, Ulysses and Surprise. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941 and served in Germany and England.
He married
Marcella Edith Burgess on Oct. 1, 1942, in Aurora. They recently celebrated their 55th anniversary. He was discharged from the service in 1945. They lived in Bradshaw, where Mr. Perkins worked as a mechanic. He was also the constable for the city of Bradshaw.
They moved to Central City in 1959, and for four years, he operated his own Sinclair Station and sold Watkins products. He began working as a delivery man for Royal Crown Cola in 1962. He then worked for the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island until it closed in the 1970s. He went to work for Polk Oil until retiring in 1986.
He served as president of the Union of Chemical Workers. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing the harmonica and guitar and singing hymns and attending the programs and activities of his grandchildren. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Central City and Bradshaw, a 50-year member of the United Methodist Church and was a faithful member of the Central City Senior Center.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles "Chuck" Perkins of Grand Island and Dwight Perkins of Hesperia, Calif.; two daughters, Frances Jensen of Omaha and Edith (Mrs. Brad) Garrett of Central City; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Ellen Gnauden, Etta Smith, Violet Hogendorn, Eva Perkins and Mary Perkins; and one brother, Roy Perkins.
Joseph Schuda
LOUP CITY -- Joseph S. Schuda, 87, of Loup City died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at his niece's home near St. Libory.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reggie Urban will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Loup City with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 48 of Loup City.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service, Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mr. Schuda was born on Dec. 25, 1910, on a farm northwest of St. Libory to Stanley and Helen (Grabowski) Schuda. He attended St. Libory's Parochial School. The family later moved to a farm near Ashton. He then attended Mount Carmel Parochial School at Paplin. The family later moved to a farm southwest of Loup City.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1947. After the service, he returned to farm southwest of Loup City, where he lived the rest of his life.
He enjoyed fixing watches and televisions. He loved his steam engines and would attend and participate in spectator threshing bees.
He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church.
Survivors include one sister, Elizabeth (Mrs. Leon) Peterson of Litchfield; and one brother, Clemence "Bill" Schuda of Brule.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete and George Schuda; and two sisters, Mary Schuda and Frances Werner.
William Skolil
SARGENT -- William "Bill" Skolil, 85, of Sargent died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at Goli Medical Center in Sargent.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. The Rev. Samm Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in the National cemetery west of Ord.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Sargent.
Orie Stack
CHAPMAN -- Orie E. Stack, 89, of Chapman died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home. Larry Oakman will officiate. Burial will be in the Chapman Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Stack was born on July 28, 1908, at Eagle to Walter and Ethel (Jepsen) Stack. He grew up and was educated in the Lincoln and Scottsbluff areas.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge.
He married
Augusta Hanson on April 27, 1941. They lived in the Central City and Chapman areas and later moved to a farm north of Hordville.
They moved back to Chapman in 1947. He delivered mail and worked at a sandpit. He became town marshal in the early 1960s. He retired at 85 and dug graves at the Chapman Cemetery.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He liked the outdoors and always had a big garden.
Survivors include three sons, Rex, Roy and Ronnie, all of Chapman; two daughters, Darlene (Mrs. Francis) Sowl of Grand Island and Violet (Mrs. Wesley) Sowl of Beatrice; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His wife died on April 19, 1993. He also was preceded in death by two sons, Ray and Danny; one grandson; a brother, Walter; and three sisters, Elizabeth, Lois and Elsie.
John Stanger
SCOTIA -- John Stanger, 93, of Scotia died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia. The Rev. Bob Paulson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery at Scotia.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mr. Stanger was born on Aug. 4, 1904, at Woodstock, Ill., to John Sr. and Marie Stanger. When he was a child, his family moved to Scotia, where he grew up and was educated.
He married
Martha Klein on March 19, 1931, at Jansen. The couple farmed in the Fish Creek area near Scotia for six years before moving to Horace north of Scotia, where they farmed for 10 years.
They farmed on Mrs. Stanger's family farm and then purchased a farm southwest of Scotia, where they farmed until retiring in 1977. They then moved into Scotia. Mrs. Stanger died on Aug. 26, 1988.
Mr. Stanger was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed flying and taking aerial photographs. He also played the violin and saxophone.
Survivors include two sons, Gene of Topeka, Kan., and Gerald of Omaha; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Bill; and one sister, Elsie Johnson.
Vene Tucker
LOUP CITY -- Vene C. Tucker, 89, of Loup City died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Loup City. The Rev. Heidi Revelo will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Loup City.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Peters Funeral Home in Loup City.
