Mabel Loghry
PAUL, Idaho -- Mabel D. Loghry, 87, of Paul, Idaho, formerly of Pleasanton, died Dec. 22, 1997, at Highland Estates care home in Burley, Idaho.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Pleasanton Cemetery. O'Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Loghry was born on Feb. 13, 1910, in Pleasanton to Walter and Bertha (Krotz) Hughes. She grew up in Nebraska.
She married
Harlow "Doc" Alvin Loghry in 1953. They moved in 1955 to Paul, Idaho, where they ran a farm and dairy business until retiring in 1984. They stayed at the farm until Mr. Loghry's death in 1997. Mrs. Loghry then moved to Highland Estates in Burley.
She loved to farm with her husband. She also enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeaniece Brockman of Ohio; two sons, Keith Wright of Oregon and Eugene Wright of Texas; a stepson, Hal Loghry of Casper, Wyo.; a stepdaughter, Donna Loghry of Casper, Wyo.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Victor Vopat
Winner, S.D. -- Victor Vopat, 79, of Winner, S.D., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at the Winner Regional Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the National cemetery west of Ord. The Rev. Samm Johnston will officiate. Rhoad Funeral Home of Sargent is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
'Doc' Sanders
William J. "Doc" Sanders, 88, of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Sanders was born on June 4, 1910, at Grand Island to Frank and Elizabeth (Barr) Sanders. He was educated in Grand Island schools.
He married
Catherine Sharp on Dec. 2, 1936, in St. Paul. The couple lived in Grand Island through most of their marriage. He worked as an engineer for Central Power Co. from 1936 to 1942. In 1942, he began working for the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant as an engineer in the boiler department and also for Silas Mason. He transferred in 1948 to the Burlington, Iowa, ordnance plant, where he worked as a steam fitter foreman for the Emergency Export Co. He returned to Grand Island in 1950 and began working at the ordnance plant for Silas Mason as a boiler engineer and later as boiler superintendent.
He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Masonic Ashlar Lodge 33 A.F. & A.M., both of Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Joe Sanders of Houston; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy; six brothers, George, Art, Ralph, Harry, Floyd and Clifford; and one sister, Sadie Walker.
'Dale' Smith
William "Dale" Smith, 76, of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. William Forbes will officiate. Burial will be in Burkett cemetery on the grounds of the veterans home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Lloyd Hinrichs
GILTNER -- Lloyd Heye Hinrichs, 80, of Giltner died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Giltner United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dwight DeLaet will officiate. Burial will be in the Giltner Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mr. Hinrichs was born on March 12, 1918, at Glenvil to Onno and Ida (Flhor) Hinrichs. He grew up and was educated near Glenvil and Trumbull. He was a farmer and did body shop work.
He married
Neva Marlatt on March 5, 1938, at York. Following his marriage, he worked at Swift in Hastings until 1943. They then farmed in the Trumbull area until moving to a farm near Giltner in 1946. They moved into Giltner in 1962, and he worked for the Giltner Co-op until retiring in 1980. He also drove a school bus for the Giltner schools.
He was a member of the Giltner United Methodist Church, the Hastings Elks Lodge and the Eagles Lodge in Grand Island. He was a charter member of the Giltner school board.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Jerry of Aurora, Ronald and Darrell, both of Giltner, Richard of Hastings and Steven of Kearney; one daughter, Dianne (Mrs. John) McMahon of Grand Island; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma Fisher of Glendale, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and one grandchild.
John 'Bus' Lord
AURORA -- John "Bus" Lord, 78, of Aurora, former owner of Lord's Shoe Service in Aurora, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, in Memorial Community Care at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Aurora United Methodist Church. The Rev. Peggy Michael-Rush will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Survivors include three sons, Roger of Ladsen, S.C., Michael of Millbrae, Calif., and Gary of Mesa, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.

Bruce Jundt
VERDIGRE -- Bruce P. Jundt, 68, of Verdigre died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at Verdigre.
Memorial services were on Thursday at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton. The Rev. Casey Nelson officiated.
Mr. Jundt was born on March 14, 1930, at Creighton to Phil and Helen (LaFarge) Jundt. He attended Creighton Public and High School.
He married
Mary Schaefer on April 16, 1950, at Eden Valley.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Elks and Rural Mail Carriers Association.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane (Mrs. Garry) Retzlaff of St. Paul, Sue Doerr of Creighton and Kay (Mrs. Curt) Bilse of Ridgeland, Wis.; two sons, Michael Jundt of Norfolk and David Jundt of Creighton; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Dwight Jundt and Dale Jundt, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Deborah Galindo
Deborah S. Galindo, 45, of 223 N. Grace died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at St. Francis Skilled Care Center.
Services are pending with Kleine Funeral Home.
Bertie Hancock
Bertie Lee Hancock, 83, of the Grand Island Veterans Home, formerly of Merna, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Cairo United Methodist Church. The Rev. Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Burkett cemetery in Grand Island.
There will be no visitation. Apfel Funeral Home of Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Hancock was born on Aug. 16, 1914, at Rosebud, Texas, to Arthur and Ella (Maulk) Faulkner. She attended school at Rosebud, Texas, and received her nursing education at Cameron, Texas.
She married
James Kenneth Hancock on June 10, 1942, at Fort Bliss, Texas. They lived in Nebraska through most of their marriage. She entered the Grand Island Veterans Home in 1994.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Merna.
Survivors include one son, William of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Sue Butcher of Alliance and Jean Johnson of Stromsburg; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Guy Faulkner of Bethany, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter and seven brothers and sisters.
