Edna Sundberg
STROMSBURG -- Edna M. Sundberg, 96, of Stromsburg, formerly of Polk, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Polk. The Rev. Roger Burke will officiate. Burial will be in Lindale cemetery near Hordville.
Solt Funeral Home in Polk is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Survivors include one son, J. Harvey Sundberg of Polk; two daughters, Delores (Mrs. Daniel) Graves of Stromsburg and Ramona (Mrs. Charles) Stromberg of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Esther Erickson; and two brothers, Vern Jones of Hastings and Elner Jones of Crystal Lake, Ill.
Kathryn Wheeler
Loup City -- Kathryn M. Wheeler, 73, of Loup City died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Loup City. The Rev. Heidi Revelo will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Loup City.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Peters Funeral Home in Loup City.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Wheeler was born on Sept. 11, 1924, at Spencer, Okla., to William and Almeda (Allen) Legg. She was educated in Bethany, Okla., schools and graduated from Bethany High School in 1943. She moved to California, where she worked for the Postal and Telegram Service. She later moved to Hot Springs, Ark., where she worked in banking.
She married
Elvin R. Wheeler on July 3, 1945, in Gainsville, Texas. The couple first lived in Gainsville and later moved to Mineral Wells, Texas, and Oklahoma City.
They moved to Nebraska in 1946 and lived at Potter, Alma and Buck Tail. They moved to a farm south of Loup City in 1952 and moved into Loup City in 1990.
She entered the Rose Lane Home in Loup City in October 1997.
She enjoyed painting and sewing. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Methodoers, the Loup City Saddle Club and an Extension Club. He was a former 4-H Club leader.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Stephen and Loren, both of Holdrege, Rex of Lewellen and James of Loup City; a daughter, Janet (Mrs. Frank) Kaslon of Como, Texas; 20 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Mrs. Tom) Gilliam of Foss, Okla.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Legg, and three sisters, Marguerite Frenkel, Ruth Stivers and Doris Archer.
Vernon Swanson Sr.
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Vernon E. Swanson Sr. of Bloomington, Minn., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Phoenix.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nativity of Mary in Bloomington. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National cemetery at Minneapolis.
Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel of Bloomington is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; three sons, Vernon Swanson II of Bloomington, Minn., Dave of Grand Island and Mark of San Antonio; one daughter, Sharon (Mrs. David) Whitney of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth Swanson.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Erickson.
Arthur Cone
Arthur "A.D." Cone, 73, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center following complications after surgery.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Mr. Cone was born on July 13, 1924, at Berwyn to Arthur and Ethel (Marsh) Cone. He moved to Grand Island at age 3, was educated here and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1943.
He married
Alvera Wagner on May 6, 1951, at Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island, where he worked for Chicago Lumber Co. for 19 years and later for Greenline Farm Equipment until retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Platt-Duetsche Society, Ashlar Lodge 33 A.F. & A.M. and Platte Valley Antique Association. He was a volunteer and worked with the agriculture displays at Stuhr Museum. He enjoyed wood carving, fishing, restoring antiques and was an avid sportsman.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Douglas Cone of Phillips and Rick Cone of Kersey, Colo.; one daughter, Gale (Mrs. Greg) Hopkins of Grand Island; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arvine Cone; and one sister, Marie Williams.
Cerrovio Guerrero
Cerrovio Guerrero, 66, of 321 N. Boggs died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
William Miller
BROKEN BOW -- William "Bill" Miller, 83, of Broken Bow died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at his home.
Services are pending at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery.
Elizabeth Nelson
CENTRAL CITY -- Elizabeth Alida "Betty" Nelson, 84, of Central City died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Central City. The Rev. Charles Pollard will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Survivors include one son, Gordon Nelson of Central City; one daughter, Jeannette (Mrs. Jim) Williams of Central City; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bertha Schuett of Grand Island and Pearl Rodenbeck of DeWitt, Mich.
John Pirnie
BROKEN BOW -- John C. Pirnie, 77, of Broken Bow died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Revs. Bob Winn and Abner Bosheth will officiate. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Custer County Hospice or the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow.
Mr. Pirnie was born on Nov. 29, 1920, at Weissert to Earl Alexander and Alvina (Roy) Pirnie. He grew up at Weissert and graduated from Dry Valley High School in 1939.
He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946. He received his wings at Fort Sill, Okla. He was flight officer and co-pilot of a B-25 stationed in Okinawa and Japan, serving in the 38th Bomb Group, 71st Squadron.
He married
Alice Swanson on June 21, 1953, in Broken Bow.
He was involved in several businesses, including Pirnie's Farm Store and Farmers Grain and Supply, with elevators in York, Ansley, Minden, Norman, Berwyn, Comstock, Sargent, Mason City and Bassett. He sold Packards, Studebakers, Willy's jeeps and farm machinery.
He was one of four partners who built Rest Haven, now Sandhills Manor, in Broken Bow in 1962. He was a licensed health care administrator for several years. He was one of three partners who started Union 76 Truck Stop at Alda.
He was also involved in Arrow Car Washes in Broken Bow, Grand Island, McCook and Denver. Another special interest was artistic works such as chalk-talk drawings, logos and creating unique sketches for his family.
He enjoyed many years of flying his own plane.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. Steve) Gottsch of Chambers, Jeanne (Mrs. Charlie) Beckmann of Kearney, Donna (Mrs. Mike) Towns of Minneapolis, Minn., and Jolene (Mrs. Abner) Bosheth of Deltona, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, George Pirnie of Broken Bow and Don Pirnie of Kearney.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Kenneth, Frank, James, Roy and Robert.
