Georgia Wilke
COLUMBUS - Georgia H. Wilke, 87, of Osmond died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
The funeral will be Sunday at 6 p.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus. Interment will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery on Monday at 9:30 a.m. A memorial service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond.
Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Cemetery or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond or donor’s choice.
Georgia Helen Wilke was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Columbus to Adolph and Emily (Loseke) Frese. She was baptized, confirmed and received her education at Christ Lutheran Church.
Georgia married Arthur Wilke on March 5, 1940 in Blair. In October 1995, they moved to Osmond, where they were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Georgia is survived by her husband, Arthur Wilke of Osmond; sons and their wives, Sidney (Martha) Wilke of Eaton, Colo., Philip (Leslie) Wilke of Moreno Valley, Calif., Martin (Carol) Wilke of Boise, Idaho, David (Jean) Wilke of Greeley, Colo., Quentin (Marcille) Wilke of Garden City, Kan., Clark (Kathy) Wilke of Osmond, Colin (Janet) Wilke of Kearney, John (Evonna) Wilke of Greeley, Colo., Andrew (Donna) Wilke of Lincoln and Luke (Deborah) Wilke of Lincoln; daughters and their husbands, Gloria Wilke Miller (Rick Loock) of Lincoln and Audrey (Ernest) Sayers of Clarkson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Emily Frese; brothers, LeRoy, Lloyd and Gerhard Frese; and sisters, Alice Frese, Dorothea Frese and Bernice Stevenson.
Joan Cushman
Services for Joan Cushman, 87, Sioux City, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home in Sioux City. Burial will be in the Correctionville (Iowa) Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday with the family present 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She died Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Colonial Manor in Randolph.
Joan was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Alice Elizabeth (Clark) Kennedy. She married E.L. “Jack” Cushman on March 16, 1939, in Elk Point, S.D. He died Feb. 8, 1991, in Sioux City.
Joan had lived in Sioux City her entire life until moving to Randolph five years ago. She was a member of Woodman of the World and the Moose Lodge.
Her greatest joy was her family.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sandra and Bob Sauser of Randolph; a son and his wife, Ron and Carol Cushman of St. Louis Park, Minn.; five grandchildren, Kristie (Keevin) Arens, Beckie (Steve) Lechtenberg, Dorothy “Dottie” (Tom) Schmit, Nicole (Dan) Peterson and Shannon Cushman; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Don Pinkston and Chris (Jackie) Pinkston; and her longtime best friend, Cecil Michael.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and several brothers and sisters.

Arvilla Kirch
WISNER - Services for Arvilla Kirch, 91, of Wisner will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church here. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemtery in rural Beemer.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Thursday from 11 a.m. till service time at the church.
Mrs. Kirch passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2006, at the Wisner Care Center.
Clifford Lodge
PIERCE - Services for Clifford Lodge, 83, Pierce, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church here. Burial will in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce with a 7:30 p.m. rosary.
He died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
J.R. Warner
Services for J.R. “Whiff” Warner, 83 of Columbus, will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus. Military honors will be by the American Legion Honor Guard, Hartman Post 84.
There will be no visitation.
He died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
Juel R. Warner was born Sept. 14, 1922, in De Smet, S.D., to Lyle and Ann (Odegard) Warner. He graduated from Norfolk High School and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
On May 20, 1943, Juel entered the U.S. Army, serving during World War II with the parachute infantry. He was honorably discharged on July 14, 1945.
On March 27, 1948, he married Ruth Korb in Norfolk. They settled in Columbus, where J. R. worked for Behlen Manufacturing Company, retiring as advertising and sales manager.
He enjoyed gardening, golf, sports, and trips to Las Vegas. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
J. R. is survived by his wife, Ruth Warner of Columbus; a son, Rick Warner and his wife, Shelly, of Wichita, Kan., his grandchildren, Nicole, Lucas, and Nathan; his great-grandchildren, Haley and Alex; another son, Dr. Greg Warner and his wife, Judy, of Visalia, Calif.; grandchildren, Jason, Shelli, Grant and Nick; great-grandchildren, Scott and Jack; a daughter, Kris Kingston of Omaha; grandchildren, Michael and Lauren; a son, Korb Warner of Omaha; and grandchildren, A.J., Dylan, Emma and Jacob.
J.R. was preceded in death by parents, Lyle and Ann Warner, and a grandson, Frederick Lyle Warner Jr.
Special remembrances will be given at the service by Rick Warner, Dr. Greg Warner, Kris Kingston and Korb Warner. A lunch will be served at the VFW Club following the service.
Lorenz Weber
Services for Lorenz Weber, 90, of Norfolk will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Plainview.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Weber died Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek.
Lillian Beutler
BANCROFT - Lillian C. Beutler, 91, of Bancroft died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft with burial in the Bancroft City Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday at Munderloh Funeral Home in Bancroft.
Tom Dempsey
O’NEILL - Memorial visitation for Tom Dempsey, 54, Emmet, will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Biglin’s Mortuary here with inurnment at 3:30 p.m. at the Inman Cemetery.
He died Monday, May 1, 2006, at his home.
Kathleen Dennis
WISNER - Services for Kathleen Dennis, 81, of Bloomington, Ill., formerly of Wisner, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the church with a vigil at 7 p.m. Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dennis died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at BroMenn Health Center in Normal, Ill.
Kathleen Pieper was born Nov. 11, 1924, at Dodge to William B. and Katherine (Gross-Rohde) Pieper. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean. She attended Olean Academy Grade School and graduated from Howells High School. Kathy went on to attend the Omaha School of Commerce, earning a business degree.
She returned to the family farm while her brothers served in the armed forces during World War II. Kathy also worked in Fremont, assembling aircraft parts during the war as well as doing housework, child care for families and was also employed at Schmoller & Muehler Music Store in Omaha.
On May 31, 1949, she was united in marriage to Bill Dennis at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean. They operated Dennis Construction in Wisner from 1949 to 2000. Kathy was the bookkeeper for Dennis Construction and gave piano lessons for over 25 years. Kathy also had been employed as an organist at the Episcopal Church in Norfolk, Wisner Manor, Walbaum’s in Wakefield and in the business office at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point and as a Nebraska state aide for the needy and did child care in the Wisner area.
In 2001, she moved to Lincoln and began a new hobby of ballroom dancing. In January 2005, she moved to Bloomington, Ill., where she was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church. She continued her walking and dancing until she became ill in October 2005, at which time she moved to ManorCare in Bloomington.
Kathy was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner, where she played the organ for 40 years and taught CCD for 15 years. She also had served as the organist at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olean. Some of her favorite pastimes included playing the piano, walking, arts and crafts and writing music. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include daughters, Patsy and husband Wib Leonard of Bloomington and Kay Borgelt of Lincoln; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Pieper of Dodge; and sister, Ruth Cech of Clarkson.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Dec. 19, 2000; two brothers, Dallan and Elmer Pieper; and one sister, JoAnn McMullin.
The Rev. Tim Podraza will officiate.
Helen Peterson
ATKINSON - Services for Helen A. Peterson, 79, Atkinson, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church here with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Seger Funeral Home.
She died Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Parkside Manor in Stuart.
Jerry Rosenkrans
O’NEILL - Services for Jerry D. Rosenkrans, 56, of Lynch will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Word of Life Christian Center in O’Neill with burial in the Dorsey Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be by O’Neill American Legion Simonson Post 93.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. He died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at his home northeast of O’Neill.
Memorials may be directed to the Dorsey Community Church.
Jerry was born May 23, 1949, in Lincoln to Roger and Marjorie (Lindberg) Rosenkrans. He attended grade school at Dorsey District 4 and graduated from Verdigre High School in 1967. He then attended South Dakota State University for one year.
On Aug. 9, 1969, Jerry married Norma Sip in O’Neill.
On Sept. 16, 1969, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving his country for one year in Germany. He received his honorable discharge June 18, 1971.
He and Norma lived on a farm north of O’Neill until 1977 when they moved onto the family homestead and took over the dairy operation and farm. In 1992, he left the dairy business and began working for Koplin Farms. He worked there until health problems forced him to retire from farming. He continued to manage the homestead farm up to the time of his death.
Jerry enjoyed singing gospel hymns, playing the piano and guitar and making craft items out of sickle sections and a variety of other farm-related materials. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and neighbors and was always ready to have a good visit whether it was while he was on a walk along the road, out in the field, or on the farm yard.
Jerry was an active member of the Dorsey Community Church. He played the piano or guitar when needed and attended Bible Study. He was also a member of the Lynch VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; two sons, Chad Rosenkrans and his wife, Jolene of O’Neill, and Adam Rosenkrans of Lynch; one daughter, Julie Granquist and her husband, Corey of Norfolk; his mother, Marjorie Rosenkrans of Springfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren; one sister, Marion Green and her husband, Mike of Mission, S.D.; and one brother, Fred Rosenkrans and his wife, Sandy of Eldora, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger; an infant son, Jerry Dean; one sister, Delores Smeeton; and one brother, Lynn.
The Rev. Mike Durre will officiate.
