Sarah Jacobsen
Sarah "Sally" Jacobsen, 92, formerly of Dannebrog, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog. The Rev. Robert Carlson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge cemetery at Dannebrog.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Jacobsen was born on Nov. 30, 1906, at Filley to Soren and Ane Marie (Nielsen) Larsen. Her mother died when Mrs. Jacobsen was 3 years old, and her father died when she was 6. She moved to Nysted to live with Mr. and Mrs. P.H. Jacobasen in 1911. Her guardians were her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Berg, and both couples raised her. She attended grade school at Nysted and graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1925.
She moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she worked until 1927, when she moved to Dannebrog and worked at Hall's General Store.
She married
Milton Jacobsen on June 23, 1930. The couple lived in Dannebrog throughout their marriage. She worked for Jacobsen Grocery and Dry Goods Store and the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant and was assistant cook at the Dannebrog public schools. She worked as a clerk at the Dannebrog post office until retiring in January 1973.
Mr. Jacobsen died in January 1995. Mrs. Jacobsen moved to Tiffany Square in April 1997.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and Lois Circle.
Survivors include one son, Bob of Honolulu; one daughter, Sonya (Mrs. Norm) Anderson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Sophus and Martin Larson and Donald Larson McGaffey; and one sister, Bertha Nelson.
Max Jacobson
Max LeRoy Jacobson, 78, of 3423 W. Kelly No. 324 died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Julie Bringelson will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Clay Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church or to the family.

Mr. Jacobson was born on May 6, 1920, on a farm in Clay County near Edgar. He attended Excelsior School in rural Clay County and high school in Clay Center.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in the European theater under Gen. George Patton. He was discharged in 1945.
He married
Jessie "Dot" Mitchell on Feb. 19, 1944, in Aberdeen, Md. They farmed east of Clay Center. He also sold seed corn for Asgrow Seeds and worked as a crop loss adjuster for Federal Crop Insurance. The couple moved to Grand Island in November 1991.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the church men's group, the Eagles Club in Hastings, the Sutton American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a longtime member of Emanuel United Methodist Church of Clay Center.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Donna J. McNeal and DeAnna K. (Mrs. Raymond) Rollins, both of Grand Island, and Brenda J. (Mrs. David) Phillips of Denver; five sons, Charles L. Jacobson of St. Paul, Minn., Lyle D. Jacobson of Lincoln, Michael B. Jacobson of North Platte, Myron L. Jacobson of Phoenix and Allen D. Jacobson of Riverside, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Burton Jacobson of Edgar; and two sisters, Loretta (Mrs. L.D.) Trantham of Lubbock, Texas, and Rogene Hicks of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia; two grandsons; a brother, Curtis; and a sister, Mary Jane.
Lealand Robinson
Lealand C. Robinson, 84, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in Major cemetery near Ravenna.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church or the Diabetes Foundation.
Mr. Robinson was born on July 14, 1914, at Poole to Thomas and Lillian (Huston) Robinson. He grew up and was educated in Buffalo County. He lived in the Ravenna, Kearney and Poole areas.
He married
Ethel O'Dell on Oct. 5, 1942, at Sherman Oaks, Calif. The couple lived in California, and he worked at Douglas Aircraft as a machinist. They returned to Ravenna in 1945. He worked for Consumer Public Power Co. in Ravenna.
He moved to Grand Island in 1947 and worked for the city Utilities Department. He began farming in Merrick County in 1951 and began working for the Southern Nebraska Rural Electrification Administration in 1952. He retired in 1977.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors and farming.
Survivors include two daughters, June M. Christensen of Grand Island and Mary E. Brewster of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
His wife died on Dec. 24, 1990. He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter and an infant sister.
'Leo' Vermeulen Jr.
Leendert "Leo" Vermeulen Jr., 83, of 3013 W. Stolley Park Road No. 79 died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at his daughter's home in Wichita, Kan.
Mr. Vermeulen was cremated.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 16 at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. C. Roger Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery.
Downing and Lahey Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vermeulen was born on July 15, 1915, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Leendert and Nicoline Vermeulen. He lived in Indonesia and the Netherlands. He graduated from the Academy of Liberal Arts in 1936 with a degree in architecture.
He worked for Clayton and Associates, Benjamin Engineering and the Hall County Roads Department. He was a resident of Grand Island for 37 years.
He was an active member of the Lions Club for many years and served as deputy district governor. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He was also a member of the Platt-Duetsche Society and the Grand Island Saddle Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Marijke Klahn of Wichita, Kan.; a son, Hank Vermeulen of Doylestown, Pa.; three grandchildren; and a special friend, Charleen Frerichs of Hildreth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria; his brother, Pieter Johannas; and his sister, Johanna Nicoline.
Letha Burnett
BROKEN BOW -- Letha Burnett, 85, of Broken Bow died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials may be directed to the church, Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center or Jennie Melham Home Health.
Margaret Choyeski
ST. EDWARD -- Margaret Louise Choyeski, 75, of St. Edward died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, near Genoa as the result of an auto accident.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward Gill will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. wake service, Friday at the church. Visitation will continue from 8:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Choyeski was born on Oct. 9, 1923, on a Platte County farm south of St. Edward. She attended District 59 School in Platte County, attended ninth and 10th grades at Big Cut School in Nance County and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1943. She then worked at an Omaha hospital.
She married
Raymond Choyeski on March 4, 1946, at St. Edward's Catholic Church. They lived and farmed in Boone and Nance counties until the early 1970s. She worked at Dale's Electronics and for others cleaning and painting. They moved to St. Edward in 1977.
She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Survivors include one son, Joseph of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Josephine (Mrs. Ron) Weltruski of Primrose and Jan (Mrs. Bill) Smith of St. Edward; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Marie Tieman of St. Edward and Maxine (Mrs. Lawrence) Choyeski of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Tourtillott; and one brother, Donald Zimmerman.
