Raymond Choyeski
ST. EDWARD -- Raymond Joseph Choyeski, 81, of St. Edward died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, near Genoa as the result of an auto accident.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward Gill will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. wake service, Friday at the church. Visitation will continue from 8:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Choyeski was born on March 19, 1917, on a farm southeast of Belgrade in Nance County. He was educated at District 27 School near Belgrade in Nance County.
He married
Margaret Zimmerman on March 4, 1946, at St. Edward's Catholic Church. They lived and farmed in Boone and Nance counties until the early 1970s. He also worked at a car dealership in Chicago during the winters. They moved to St. Edward in 1977. He worked as a maintainer operator for Boone County until he retired in 1982.
He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and had served on the Nance County District 30 school board.
Survivors include one son, Joseph of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Josephine (Mrs. Ron) Weltruski of Primrose and Jan (Mrs. Bill) Smith of St. Edward; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Lawrence Choyeski of Cedar Rapids and John Choyeski of Wheaton, Ill.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Sebastian; and a sister, Martha.
Kenneth June
ANSELMO -- Kenneth June, 81, of Anselmo died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Jim Stark will officiate. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
A memorial has been established to the Merna Rescue Unit.
Mr. June was born on May 2, 1917, at Arnold to Oscar and Vera (Porter) June. He attended Pleasant Hill Country School.
He married
Mae Gehrman on Jan. 12, 1940, at Broken Bow. He spent his early life farming at Arnold. Later he moved to Anselmo and worked in a hardware store until opening his own mechanic shop. In later years, he had a small carnival during the summer months.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Barb (Mrs. Ron) Booten of Anselmo; two sons, Bob June of Broken Bow and Ray June of Anselmo; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Gladys Prescott of Broken Bow.
He was preceded in death by one son, Glenn June; one daughter, Mary Ann (McAlevy) Pirnie; four grandsons; and one brother, Carl June.
David Mace
CENTRAL CITY -- David Mace, 46, of Central City died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services are pending at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Leo Krzycki
SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Leo S. Krzycki, 90, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Elba, died Dec. 24, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services were on Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Revs. Frank Kriski and Joseph Dillinger officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Krzycki was born on June 25, 1908, in Columbus to Frank and Agnes (Szymowicz) Krzycki. He attended school in Elba.
He worked for the U.S. Civil Service as a railway postal clerk from 1928 to 1965.
He married
Helen E. Golla on July 28, 1931, in Omaha. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1944. He lived in Omaha for 24 years before moving to Sioux City in 1969. He had also lived in Colorado Springs, Colo., Aurora and San Francisco.
Mrs. Krzycki died on July 29, 1987, in Sioux City.
Mr. Krzycki was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Men's Club, Knights of Columbus Epiphany Council 743 and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doni Kaminski and Venice Zabawa; and three brothers, Ed Krzycki, Zigmund Krzycki and Leo Krzycki.
Gary McAhren
HAWTHORNE, Calif. -- Gary McAhren, 62, of Hawthorne, Calif., formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998.
Leo May
Leo B. May, 75, of Grand Island died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Revs. Harry Kurtenbach and Walter Phelan officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Ft. McPherson National cemetery near Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. rosary.
Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans, Central Catholic High School or St. Mary's Cathedral.
Mr. May was born on Feb. 21, 1922, at Axtell to Michael and Matelda (Richenberger) May. He began his education in Hastings and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Grand Island.
After his education, he joined the Army on Nov. 5, 1942. He attended cryptology school and anti-submarine warfare school in Langley, Va. He served as an air traffic controller in Guam during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 9, 1946.
He married
Francis Marie "Mickey" Mentzer on Aug. 8, 1946. He worked for Sears Roebuck Co. in Grand Island for 25 years. After his retirement, he loved to make bread to take and share with veterans at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. His wife died in 1987.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Elks Club.
Survivors include two sons, Bob of Atlanta, Ga., and Jim of Lincoln; one daughter, Katherine VanTrump of Green Bay, Wis.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike of Portland, Ore., and Howard of Corvallis, Ore.; and two sisters, Jean Kelly and Mary Kathrine O'Shea, both of Terryboone, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Mary B. Larson in May 1997; two brothers and one sister.
Monica Morrow
Monica E. Morrow, 80, of Grand Island died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at the Lakeview Rehab and Nursing Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Ord cemetery at Ord.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Children's Home or at the donor's choice.
Mrs. Morrow was born on March 9, 1917, to Patrick and Elizabeth (Hill) Wray at Spalding.
She married
John T. Marrow on Feb. 17, 1936, at a farm near Scotia. They farmed there for 32 years. In 1967, they moved to Grand Island where she worked for Nightser Bakery for 10 years.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing and playing cards.
Survivors include six sons, Jack Morrow and Jerry Morrow, both of Grand Island, Dan Morrow of Ashton, James Morrow of St. Libory, Robert Morrow of Norfolk and Larry Morrow of Sarasota, Fla.; two daughters, Mary Kvetensky of Grand Island and Joanne Reents of Valley; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Wray of Ord.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 24, 1973; a daughter, Patricia; four grandsons and a granddaughter.
Carol Osborne
Carol Osborne, 63, of Grand Island died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at her home.
