ONAWA, Iowa -- Marvin L. Wheeler, 54, of Onawa, Iowa, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, in Onawa, Iowa.
Services are pending with Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
'Joe' Waid
ALBION -- Francis R. "Joe" Waid, 76, of Albion died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion with the Rev. Brian Bergum officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Gerald Curnyn
OMAHA -- Gerald T. Curnyn, 63, of Omaha, formerly of Greeley, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley with the Rev. Gerald Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery at Greeley.
Visitation will be prior to service time with a 10 a.m. rosary at the church.
T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Roger Young
LEXINGTON -- Roger D. Young, 81, of Lexington died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial will be in Robb cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or the Lexington Volunteer First Department.
Mr. Young was born on May 17, 1917, at Lexington to Glenn G. and Blanche (Richards) Young. He attended school in Lexington and played football for the Lexington Minutemen.
He married
Dorothy Curtice on April 18, 1937, at Sumner. They lived in Lexington where he owned and operated Roger's Auto Service and Center Lanes Bowling Alley. Following his retirement, he was bailiff for Dawson County District Court.
He served two stints with the Nebraska National Guard and was a fireman with the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Lexington, a charter member of Cozad Elks Club, Eagles Club, Veterans Club, Grand Island Boat Club and Lexington Cosmo Club. He enjoyed camping, bowling, boating, watching football and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Lexington; three daughters, Judy (Mrs. Larry) Rogers of Grand Island, Linda (Mrs. Ollie) Goa of Temperance, Mich., and Pat (Mrs. Paul) Linn of Lexington; two brothers, Eugene Young of Lexington and Robert Young of Tacoma, Wash.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Victor Hahn
Victor E. Hahn, 82, of Grand Island died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, Faith United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
Mr. Hahn was born on April 10, 1915, in Burlington, Iowa, to Lemuel and Anna (Novak) Hahn. His parents died when he was very young, and he was raised by his aunt, Jessie Hahn. He grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1934 and attended Iowa State College from 1936 to 1938.
He married
Mary Herrmann on Aug. 25, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa. The couple lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and several communities in Nebraska before moving to Grand Island in 1950. He worked as a draftsman for various businesses in Grand Island and retired in 1980.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Happy Wanderers Camping Club, NCHA and Grand Island Engineers Club. He was active in the Boy Scouts for several years and loved gardening, woodworking and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Vickie Hahn of Minden, Anna Krull of Tucson, Ariz., Carol Lee Stephenson of Italy and Sue Dent of Grant Park, Ill.; two sons, Paul Hahn of Algonquin, Ill., and Terry Hahn of Grand Island; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edgar Hahn of Salem, Ore.
Carl Behrendt
RAVENNA -- Carl A. Behrendt, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at his home south of Ravenna.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Gibbon.
Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Behrendt was born on Oct. 17, 1911, on a farm south of Poole to William and Emma (Buske) Behrendt. He was educated at Rosehill Rural School. After eighth-grade graduation, he went to work with his father on the farm.
He married
Clara Schroeder on Feb. 27, 1946, at Prairie Center north of Kearney.
He enjoyed raising cattle and horses and farming for 49 years south of Ravenna.
Survivors include his wife; one sister, Laura Pokorney of Ravenna; and two brothers, Dee of Ravenna and Lee of Pleasanton.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Bill, Walt, John, Elmer "Bud" and Cliff; and one sister, Clara Hervert.
Adolph Bohn
RAVENNA -- Adolph C. Bohn, 77, of Ravenna died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. The Rev. Doug DeNeui will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery at Ravenna.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Mr. Bohn was born on May 25, 1920, in Buffalo County to George and Emma (Ahrens) Bohn. He was educated at District 106 School in Buffalo County. He farmed east of Ravenna.
He married
Wilma Stover on July 18, 1952. The couple lived on a farm north of Ravenna and in the Kearney area. He worked for Henningson Foods in Ravenna for 35 years. He moved to Ravenna in 1980.
Survivors include two sons, Lonnie of Ravenna and Tim of Yankton, S.D.; one daughter, Kris Lemburg of Wood River; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dora Reasland of Wolbach.
His wife died on Jan. 20, 1969.
Melvin Clinger
ANSLEY -- Melvin LeRoy Clinger, 78, of Ansley died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Ansley. The Revs. Virgel Mattson, Jim Ferguson and Mark Jodeman will officiate. Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow and from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. A sharing time with the family will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Mr. Clinger was born on Nov. 27, 1919, in Idelia, Colo., to Cecil and Jennie M. (Good) Clinger. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1938 and attended the University of Nebraska Agricultural College in Lincoln for one year.
He married
Mary Ann Mattson on Jan. 25, 1945, in North Platte. They moved to a farm near Ansley in 1950. They operated a grade A dairy farm from 1963 to 1997. They moved to Ansley in 1990.
He had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Ansley since 1950 and sang in the church choir. He was a church deacon for many years and was active in the American Baptist men's organization. He was also a delegate with Mid-America Dairymen.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mary Esther (Mrs. Max) Chalupa of Scottsbluff, Sandra Goodwater of Kearney and Melvina (Mrs. George) Bundy of Ansley; three sons, LeRoy Clinger and Calvin Clinger, both of Ansley, and Orin Clinger of Kearney; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Clinger of Loveland, Colo., Earnest Clinger of Lovelock, Nev., and Harold Clinger of Hemet, Calif.; three sisters, May Sukraw of LaVerne, Calif., Laura Bending of North Platte and Donna Schauda of Nevada; and three half brothers, Robert Clinger, Allen Clinger and Donald Clinger, all of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and an infant sister.
