Kenneth Moore
CEDAR RAPIDS -- Kenneth D. Moore, 77, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. James Moores officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset cemetery with military rites conducted by the Dan Cox American Legion Post No. 44.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Moore was born on Nov. 4, 1920, in Albion. As a child, he moved with his parents to the Bartlett area. He attended school until the eighth grade, when he quit to help his family.
In 1942, he entered the Army Air Force and served as an aircraft mechanic in England, France and Belgium during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to Nebraska.
He married
Mary J. Wollen at Albion on March 15, 1956. They lived in Cedar Rapids. He worked in the road maintenance department for the Nebraska Department of Roads for 32 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cedar Rapids, where he had served on the Yoke Council, the board of trustees and the administrative board. He had served as a member of the Cedar Rapids Volunteer Fire Department and on the Cedar Rapids Town Board. He was also a member of the Dan Cox American Legion Post No. 44 of Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two sons, David of Belgrade and Alan of Lincoln; one daughter, Nancy (Mrs. Monte) Wood of Exeter; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one brother, John Moore of Albuquerque, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, two brothers and four sisters.
Donna Reineke
ORD -- Donna M. Reineke, 50, of Ord died Friday, June 19, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island following a traffic accident.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Community Christian Church in rural Burwell. Burial will be in the Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell. Roy Weber will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Reineke was born on Feb. 14, 1948, in Sedro Woolley, Wash., to Harold and Viola (Keithley) Colfack. As a child, she was voted the cutest baby in the Washington Baby Pageant.
She lived in many small towns throughout South Dakota and Nebraska before settling in Ord. She attended two years of college at Central Community College at Columbus and one year at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where she received an associate degree in science as a dietary technician.
She married
Gail Reineke in Taylor on April 4, 1965. She was a caretaker at Mid-Nebraska Individual Services in Ord.
Survivors include her husband of Ord; three sons, Jack Reineke of Ord, Richard Reineke of Wichita, Kan., and Jarrod Reineke of Omaha; six grandchildren; her parents, Harold and Viola Colfack of Bloomfield, Minn.; four brothers, Gene Colfack of Page, Fred Colfack of Albuquerque, N.M., Donald Colfack of Thoreau, N.M. and Robert Colfack of Bloomfield, Minn.; and two sisters, Diana Colfack of Germany and Marilyn (Mrs. Dennis) Sorenson of Tulsa, Okla.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Devin Allen-Douglas Reineke.
Audrey Schuett
CAIRO -- Audrey M. Schuett, 77, of Cairo died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Community Care of Grand Island.
Her body will be cremated and burial will be at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Schuett was born on Dec. 23, 1920, near Cairo to Fredrick and Agnes (Ericksen) Stange. She was educated in Cairo.
She married
Gaylan C. Schuett in 1942 in Grand Island. The couple farmed south of Cairo. She had been an assistant postmaster at the Cairo Post Office for several years. Her husband died in June 1994.
Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Drucker of Lincoln; one grandson; and one brother, Henry "Bus" Stange of Cairo.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.
Alta Warren
RAYMOND -- Alta M. Warren, 80, of Raymond died Sunday, June 21, 1998.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday and until the services begin on Tuesday.
Survivors include her husband, Harrison; a son, Jerry Warren of Lincoln; a daughter, Carolyn (Mrs. Dale) Arends of St. Libory; and one brother, Floyd Adams of Columbus.
Mary McLeod
LONGMONT, Colo. -- Mary Martha McLeod, 53, of Longmont, Colo., died Monday, June 15, 1998, in a car accident in Elko, Nev.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Ambassador Baptist Church in Longmont, Colo. Her body was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. McLeod was born on Aug. 23, 1944, in Hastings to Raymond and Eleanor (Wiard) Elfring. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1962, then attended the Hastings School of Beauty, becoming a licensed beautician.
She married
Clinton McLeod in March 1978. They lived in Longmont.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Paul Colburn of Kokomo, Ind., Chris Colburn and Michael Colburn, both of Longmont; two daughters, Char (Mrs. Ron) Richers and Lisa (Mrs. Todd) Rupple, both of Denver; eight grandchildren; and three sisters, Joan (Mrs. John) Rodine of Claremont, Calif., Georgie (Mrs. Del) Sinner of Aurora and Sharon (Mrs. Carl) Furr of Concord, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters.
Marvin Wheeler
ONAWA, Iowa -- Marvin L. Wheeler, 54, of Onawa, Iowa, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at the Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion. Burial will be at the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery in Omaha.
Mr. Wheeler was born on Nov. 15, 1943, to Lloyd and Pearl (Harbottle) Wheeler in Norfolk. He worked as a school custodian. He was a member of the Benson Church of Christ while living in Omaha.
Survivors include three daughters, Beverly of Everett, Wash., and Tiffaney and Dena, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa.; and one sister, Betty (Mrs. Paul) Wickenkamp of Arvada, Colo.
L.L. Haddix
CENTRAL CITY -- L.L. "Egg" Haddix, 97, of Central City died Friday, July 10, 1998, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central city with the Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Litzenberg Long Term Care and the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
Mr. Haddix was born Oct. 16, 1900, at Winside to Calvin and Ella (Purdy) Haddix. He grew up on the eastern edge of Custer County, where he lived in a two-room soddy his father built. He graduated eighth grade in 1918 in Hall County.
He worked as an apprentice in the welding trade in 1919. In September 1922, he opened The Specialty Shop with Stars Spangenberg in Central City. In January 1923, he became the sole owner and continued in the business for more than 48 years.
He married
Helen Catherine Louise Neilsen on Aug. 5, 1925. They were married
56 years. She died on April 21, 1982.
Mr. Haddix was a volunteer fireman for 60 years, 17 of them as fire chief. He served as president of the Commercial Club, was a city councilman for two years and was mayor of Central City for four years. He became a Mason in 1927 and was Worshipful Master of the Lone Tree Lodge No. 36 in 1941 and 1981. He served for two years as a worthy patron of the Eastern Star.
Mr. Haddix retired in 1970. He helped send several local children and their parents to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. He delivered Meals on Wheels for more than 10 years.
He also helped with the Merrick County Bicentennial Historical Sites project. He helped to build and restore the Central City Museum, the Lone Tree Monument and the Senior Citizens Center.
He married
Elizabeth Nickel in June 1985. They lived in Fullerton. She died on Feb. 25, 1995. He moved to Long Term Care in May 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye (Mrs. John) Gregory of Garden Grove, Calif., and Lois (Mrs. Bill) Bowmaster of Lincoln; two sisters, Elma Scott of Wood River and Caroline Jensen of Weston, Ore.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two wives and an infant daughter, Jeanette Louise Haddix.
