Helen Helmkamp
BURWELL -- Helen E. Helmkamp, 92, of Burwell died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Taylor. Burial will be in the Taylor cemetery with the Rev. Roger Gillming officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to Calvary Methodist Church or the Community Memorial Health Center.
Erma Randall
CLARKS -- Erma E. Clark Randall, 88, of Clarks died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Clarks Congregational Church with the Rev. Darryl Keeney officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Memorials are suggested to the Clarks Community Endowment Fund, the Clarks High School Endowment Fund or donors choice.
Mrs. Randall was born in 1910 in Polk County to Martin and Mabel Monson. They moved to Fullerton where she attended the Monson Country School. The family moved to rural Clarks by wagon when Erma was 10 years old.
She graduated from Clarks High School in 1927. While in school, she was a member of the Clarks girls' basketball team. She was the catcher on the Clarks softball team in the 1930s, and she continued to be active in athletics throughout her life in bowling and horseshoes.
She was an avid fan of Clarks athletics, the Chicago Cubs and the Cornhuskers.
She married
Earl Clark in December 1931. They farmed family ground until they bought their own farm northwest of Clarks in 1946.
They later moved to town, where Erma worked at the Clarks school cafeteria. They were married
37 years until his death in 1964. She owned and operated the Clarks Cafe for several years after that.
She married
Don Randall in 1969 in Las Vegas, Nev. They were married
until his death in 1978.
She was a member of the Clarks Congregational Church and Ladies Aid. She was a past Lions Club member, was active in the Clarks and Silver Creek Bridge Clubs and was an original member and past president of the Clarks Country Social Club.
She enjoyed reading and gardening.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Clark of Kansas City and Jim Clark of Falls City; one daughter, Lynda Strobel of Clarks; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Dean and Earl Eugene; two sisters, Goldie Kohlhof and Bertha Monson; and two brothers, Harold and George Monson.
David Brison
OMAHA -- David K. Brison, 58, of Omaha, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, July 10, 1998, at the Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island with the Rev Donald Larmore officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with a wake service at 7:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Brison was born on June 21, 1940, at Chelan, Wash., to Arthur and Bertha (Kruse) Brison. He was raised and educated in Spokane, Wash. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served for three years.
He married
Carol Michalske on Aug. 31, 1961, at Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island until moving to Omaha in 1986. He was employed at Nebraska Office Service in Grand Island for many years. In Omaha, he worked for EX-CEL Solutions as a computer systems specialist.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Grand Island Jaycees and the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth Brison of Gretna and Joseph Brison of Springfield; three brothers, Art of Grantsdale, Mont, and Bill and Ed, both of Spokane, Wash.; and two sisters, Arlene Thomas of Spokane, Wash., and Betty Butkowski of Seattle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Max Johnson
COLUMBUS -- Max D. Johnson, 75, of Columbus died Sunday, July 12, 1998, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the McKown Funeral Chapel in Columbus with the Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Columbus Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. to service time on Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 22, 1922, at Polk to Merritt and Bertha (Blackwell) Johnson. He received his education in Polk County.
He married
Bette Jane Lovell on May, 17, 1950, in Omaha.
He served in the U.S. Army Military Police during World War II. From October 1942 to November 1945, he was stationed in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany.
Mr. Johnson lived in Columbus and was a thoroughbred horse trainer.
Survivors include two sons, David Behle of Grand Island and Dana Johnson of Leigh; one daughter, Diana Johnson of Columbus; one brother, Kenneth Johnson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one sister, Charlotte Crumley; one brother, Wallace Johnson; and one granddaughter.
Nadine Stange
MOORHEAD, Minn., -- Nadine L. Stange, 67, of Moorhead, Minn., died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at Dakota Heartland Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Cairo.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo. Rosary will be at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the hospice program or the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead.
Mrs. Stange was born on Oct. 11, 1930, on a farm near Elyria to Frank and Josephine (Swanek) Baran. They lived on farms near Wood River, Cameron and Cairo.
She graduated from Cairo High School and started a lifelong nursing career at St. Francis Hospital. She worked nine years at General Rose Memorial Hospital in Denver and 19 years at Dakota Heartland Hospital. She retired in 1994.
She married
Gerald Stange on Oct. 30, 1951, at Grand Island.
She was active in the Christian Mothers and the Charitable Concerns Committee at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the VFW.
She was also a lifetime member of western Minnesota Steam Threshers' Reunion in Rollag, Minn., Stearns County Pioneer Threshers Association in Albany, Minn., and the Lake Itasca Region Pioneer Farmers.
She enjoyed volunteer work at Dakota Hospital and at antique steam and tractor shows.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Michael Stange of Littleton, Colo., Kenneth Stange of Brookings, S.D., Frank Stange of Fargo, N.D., and Karl Stange of Moorhead; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Taylor Craig
Taylor Z. Craig, 15-day-old son of Todd and Beth Craig of Grand Island, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Marty Marks will officiate. Burial will be in Babyland at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kleine Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Taylor was born on Dec. 20, 1997, at Grand Island to Todd and Beth (Glaser) Craig.
Survivors include his parents; maternal grandparents, Duane and Barb Glaser and Carol and Bob Rott, all of Grand Island; paternal grandparents, Randy and Hettie Craig of Grand Island; great-grandparents, Francis and Caroline Glaser and Marcel and Mary Ann Henry, all of Spalding, Zane and Darlene Craig of Hemingford and Evelyn Johnson and Eva Collins of Grand Island.
