Doris Dorman
DANNEBROG -- Doris I. Dorman, 80, of Dannebrog died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Shields Funeral Home in Minneapolis, Kan. The Rev. William Springborg will officiate. Burial will be in the Bennington cemetery in Bennington, Kan.
Visitation will be prior to services.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's local emergency medical technicians organization. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Dorman was born on March 3, 1918, on the family farm south of Culver, Kan., to Ernest and Viola (Smith) Hinkle. She attended country school in the Culver area and grew up on the family farm.
She married
Roy A. Dorman on Nov. 19, 1939, at Garnett, Kan. The couple lived and farmed east of Culver, and she worked at Gibson's Discount Store in Salina, Kan., for a number of years. They moved north of Dannebrog in November 1993 to live near their daughter.
She enjoyed flowers and her dogs.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Joyce (Mrs. Jim) Everett of Dannebrog; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and one sister, Emma Ross of California.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Kruger; and six brothers, Russell, Kenneth, Clifford, Garland, Charles and John Hinkle.
George Killham
CENTRAL CITY - George Alfred Killham, 77, of Central City died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Revs. Lance Schafer and Dean Entrekin will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Killham was born on March 23, 1921, near Genoa to Elmer and Lula (Kinzer) Killham. He attended school in the Genoa area.
He served with the Army Air Force in the African and European theaters as a medic for three years, five months during World War II.
He married
Sarah Margaret Jenness on June 8, 1945, in Central City. The couple lived in Central City for more than 50 years. Before retiring in 1988, he worked for Merrick County as a road grader.
Mr. Killham was an active member of the First Christian Church in Central City, where he served as deacon and on various committees. He enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing pitch and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10594.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dick Killham of Cookville, Tenn., Dan Killham of Lincoln and Dennis Killham of Warrenville, Ill.; one daughter, Cathy (Mrs. Randy) Wegner of Archer; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; three brothers, Homer Killham, Alford Killham and Milford Killham, all of Grand Island; and three sisters, Irene McConnell of Grand Island, Margaret Macky of Sterling, Colo., and Shirley Hilligas of Grand Island.
Cathy Patsios
BROKEN BOW - Cathy Patsios, 48, of Broken Bow died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Gene Goben officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
A memorial has been established to the family.
Mrs. Patsios was born on March 17, 1950, in Cedar County to Otto and Eva (Meissner) Carstensen. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1968.
She married
Donald Evans on Aug. 17, 1968. She earned an associate's degree in drafting in 1986 from Mid Plains Community College. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte for eight years.
She married
Harold Patsios on March 14, 1992. They managed the Lobby Restaurant in Broken Bow for four years, and later she was manager of housekeeping at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Her hobbies included crafts, woodworking, quilting, gardening, carpentry, drafting and movies.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Denise Carpenter of Atlanta, Debra Hill and Milissa Evans, both of North Platte, and Milinda Miller of Seward; two stepchildren Tony Patsios of Oxford and Valentine Patsios of Broken Bow; three grandchildren; her mother, of Laurel; one brother, Dave Carstensen of Laurel; and two sisters, Sue Lebbin of Kansas and Tracey Tebo of Elk Point, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her father and one son, Dennis Evans.
Beulah Roberts
WOOD RIVER - Beulah (Ewing) Roberts, 84, of Wood River died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River with the Rev. Larry Nothstine officiating. Burial will be in Cameron cemetery north of Wood River.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Wood River Senior Center.
Mrs. Roberts was born on Oct. 3, 1914, at Grand Island to James and Florence (Oley) Ewing. She was educated at Wood River.
She married
Ed Roberts on March 29, 1968, at Grand Island. They lived in the Wood River area throughout their marriage. He died in 1986.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wood River and the Wood River Senior Center.
Survivors included three sons, Gerald Richhardt of Denver, Harry Richhardt of Kingman, Ariz., and Stan Richhardt of Carthage, Mo.; three daughters, Eva Lemburg of Columbus, Ethel Eiler of Atlanta and Janet Plunkett of Clarkson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded by two sisters and one brother.
'Joe' Waid
ALBION - Francis "Joe" Ray Waid, 76, of Albion died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. The Rev. Brian Bergum will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mr. Waid was born on Sept. 20, 1922, in Pilger to Joseph Virgil and Sceva Fannie Waid. He graduated from Wisner High School in 1940.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and was stationed in Honolulu en route to Spain for active duty during World War II. He was discharged in 1946.
He married
Lauraine Schultz on Feb. 24, 1946, in Norfolk. He received his bachelor of science in pharmacy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1949.
Mr. Waid worked at the pharmacy in Albion and later owned Waid Pharmacy until his retirement in 1991. He also began a second business in 1960 in which he showed and bred quarter horses, for which he won several awards.
He married
Dolores Honeywell on Sept. 19, 1981, in Evergreen, Colo.
He was a member of American Legion Post 162, Kiwanis Club, Booster Club, American and Nebraska Quarter Horse Associations and Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as secretary-treasurer for four years. He also was a member of the Albion Chamber of Commerce and past chamber president.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores; three sons, Brian Waid of Seattle, Barry Waid of Lincoln and Mike Waid of Yankton, S.D.; four daughters, JoAnn Christensen of Joplin, Mo., Lori Splinter of Lancaster, Calif., Sherry Mitchell of Norfolk and Shelley Bode of Elgin; one stepdaughter, Maria Slover of Kansas City, Mo.; one stepson, Bryan Bender of Leavenworth, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bernadine Garner of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Clark.
James Bauman
NELIGH - James Bauman, 72, of Neligh died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh with military rites conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The Rev. Randy Schutt will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Hill cemetery at Neligh.
There will be no visitation.
Mr. Bauman was born on April 5, 1926, in Neligh to Frank and Alice (Rainbow) Bauman. He attended school at Neligh, where he graduated in 1943.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps on June 24, 1943. He was sent overseas in November 1943 and participated in campaigns at Bougainville in the Solomon Islands, Guam and Iwo Jima. He returned to the states in 1946 and re-enlisted. He was sent to Korea in 1950 and landed with the forces at Inchon. He also was in the battle of Yndam-ni and Chosin Reservoir. He returned to the states after a little more than a year. He also was a part of the American Expeditionary Force in Lebanon in 1959. He served at various posts throughout the United States and the world. He retired from the Marines in 1964 as a master sergeant.
He returned to Neligh, served for a brief time as a deputy sheriff and also worked as a bartender.
He married
Mildred (McAdams) Peetz on May 9, 1972, at Yankton. They continued to live in Neligh.
He was a member of the Antelope Country Club, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5287 in Neligh and a lifetime member of the National Association for Uniformed Services. He served four years as president of the Antelope Country Club, during which time an irrigation system was installed and a new clubhouse built.
Survivors include his wife; four stepsons, Dr. Dwaine Peetz of Omaha, Forrest Peetz of O'Neill, Thomas Peetz of Concord, N.H., and Michael Peetz of St. Louis; five stepdaughters, Susan Ames of Neligh, Candace Pelster of Lincoln, Kristina Zimmer of Hays, Kan., Stephanie Peetz of Omaha and Kathryn Thiele of St. Paul; 28 step grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Donnelly of Hooper.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
