James Harris
GREELEY -- James E. Harris, 93, of Greeley died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Gerald Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery with military rites by Charles Martin Post 186 of the Greeley American Legion.
T.J. Finn and Sons Mortuary of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Medical Center Hospice in Grand Island.
Mr. Harris was born on March 2, 1906, at Greeley to Charles A. and Ida (Bixenmann) Harris. He grew up in Greeley, attended Greeley schools and graduated from Greeley High School. He then attended barber school in Omaha.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii for three and a half years during World War II.
He married
Marjorie Van Ackeren on Feb. 17, 1942, at Greeley. Mr. Harris lived in Greeley his entire life. He worked for the Burlington Railroad in Greeley for a few years and then worked at his father's barbershop until his father died. He then operated his own barbershop until retiring in 1978.
He was a member of the American Legion. His hobbies included fishing in his younger days, traveling and feeding and watching birds and squirrels in his back yard.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Paula Harris and Joan (Mrs. Richard) Putz, both of Omaha, and Jean (Mrs. John) DeChristopher of Portland, Ore.; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harry of Greeley.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Paul; and two sisters, Marie and Catherine.
Olga Hellbusch
BELGRADE -- Olga F. Hellbusch, 85, of Belgrade died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital at Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church near Belgrade. The Rev. Timothy Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 3:30 p.m. prayer service, Sunday at Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Helen G. Phillips
WOOD RIVER -- Helen G. Phillips, 91, of the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at the center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church or the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Mrs. Phillips was born on May 11, 1907, in Grand Island to Charles and Emma (Pinsch) Speck. She grew up and was educated in Grand Island.
She married
Victor Phillips on Dec. 26, 1928, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island. They especially enjoyed traveling by train and had been to three world's fairs. Mr. Phillips died in 1984. Mrs. Phillips had lived at the Good Samaritan Center for two years.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Keith Phillips of Atlanta; one sister, Evelyn Samway of Grand Island; and one brother, Clarence Speck of Greeley, Colo.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Walter Speck.
Harold Richardson
GIBBON -- F. Harold Richardson, 77, of Gibbon died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon. The Rev. Harold Kaufman will officiate. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery.
The casket will be open for viewing prior to services Monday at the mortuary.
Mr. Richardson was born on Aug. 19, 1921, in North Platte to Frank and Mable M. (Mosser) Richardson. He grew up in Gibbon and graduated from Platte Valley Academy in Shelton in 1938.
He farmed the family farm in Gibbon before entering the Army during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Gibbon, where he continued farming.
He married
Madeline Adams on Feb. 1, 1953, in Lincoln. They lived in Gibbon. He retired in the mid-1990s.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Kearney.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Marlan of Gibbon; one daughter, Wanda Sheriff of Indian Hills, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
Dan Ross
ST. PAUL -- Dan E.A. Ross, 56, of St. Paul died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Ross' body was cremated. A memorial service will be at a later date. Jacobsen Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Nancy L. Mahoney
LINCOLN -- Nancy L. Mahoney, 52, of Lincoln died Thursday, March 25, 1999.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Lincoln. Private interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Nebraska or the American Cancer Society Lincoln Chapter.
Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mahoney was born on March 2, 1947, at Rockford, Ill., to Robert and Lois Erwin. She graduated from Albion High School and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald J.; two sons, Joseph P. and James C., both of Lincoln; one daughter, Nicolle M. of Omaha; her mother, of Albion; five sisters, Margery Wildman of Clearwater, Vicki Wilson of Pittsburgh, Sheryl Farmer of Ashland and Leslie Krings and Beverly Woitzel, both of Greenwood; and two brothers, Lance of Rockford, Ill., and Randy of Whittier, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jerrod M.; and her father.
'Bud' Wilson
HARVARD -- Dale E. "Bud" Wilson, 75, of Harvard died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harvard. The Rev. Bernard Lorenz will officiate. Burial will be in the Harvard cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Sunday at Alberding-Wilson Chapel in Harvard.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Wilson was born on Aug. 29, 1923, at Harvard to Robert J. and Pearl (Keller) Wilson. He graduated from Harvard High School in 1941.
He married
Mary Van Arsdale on Oct. 19, 1946. He was a mechanic for City Oil from 1946 to 1975 and a rural mail carrier for 34 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a veteran of World War II, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mary Sue (Mrs. Albert) Nelson of Cable, Wis., Sheila (Mrs. Bob) Yohe of DeWitt, Beth (Mrs. Royed) Hollick of Gilbert, Ariz., and Jennifer (Mrs. Jim) Williams of Chapman; three sons, Jim and Tom, both of Grand Island, and Robert of Harvard; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bob of Winona, Minn.
He was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter.
James Schaub
James J. Schaub, 71, of Grand Island died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
