Jeanette Erickson
BURWELL -- Jeanette L. Erickson, 83, of Burwell died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell with the Rev. Roger Gillming officiating. Burial will be in the Bartlett City cemetery in Bartlett.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church in Burwell.
Mrs. Erickson was born on Sept. 28, 1915, in Ericson to Robert and Lola (Jennings) Slone. There were seven siblings in the family, and life in a large family made the Slone family very close.
On May 18, 1941, she married
Ira Davis Erickson in her own home near Ericson. They moved to Omaha for five years, where Mrs. Erickson worked in the Bomber Plant. She later moved to Louisville, Ky., where her husband was stationed while in the service.
The couple moved back to Omaha for a while before moving to a farm near Albion. they then moved to Ericson for three years until moving to a farm near Burwell until 1963 when they moved back to Omaha. They moved back to Burwell in 1998.
Mrs. Erickson taught school for 30 years and during her 18-year career in the Omaha Public Schools she was awarded Teacher of the Year honors on two separate occasions.
She was a life-long Methodist, a member of the teachers organization and the World of Poetry. She also was a 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and needlework.
Survivors include her husband, Ira of Burwell; one son, Thomas Erickson of Ericson; one daughter, Kathlene (Mrs. D.L.) Steen of Lemars, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, George Slone of Ft. Collins, Colo.
Mrs. Erickson was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Todd; two sisters and three brothers.
Orville Hulme
CAIRO -- Orville G. Hulme, 89, of Cairo died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Cairo with the Rev. Allan Davis officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m with the Rev. John D. Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Cairo Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Cairo Fire Department, the Cairo United Methodist Church or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife, Erna of Cairo; one son, Doyle Hulme of Grand Island; one daughter, Lois Hughs of Mankato, Minn.; two grandsons; three granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Beulah McCulla of Grand Island; and a brother, Everett Hulme of Belleview.
Patsy Moffett
KEARNEY -- Patsy M. Moffett, 65, of Kearney died Sunday at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services are pending at Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon.
Velma E. Rose
Velma E. Rose 78, of Grand Island died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at the Nebraska Veterans Home.
Services are pending with the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Orville Hulme
CAIRO -- Orville Hulme, of Cairo died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Bryan LGH Hospital in Lincoln.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Robert McClure
ORD -- Robert Thomas McClure, 69, of Ord died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at his home.
Mr. McClure was cremated.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ord Memorial Chapel followed by military rites by the Ord VFW and American Legion. Burial will be at a later date at the Memory Land cemetery at Anadarko, Okla. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McClure was born Dec. 6, 1929, to Robert and Sylvia (Riley) McClure at Anadarko, Caddo County, Okla. He grew up in Anadarko and graduated from Anadarko High School in 1947. He attended Southwest Teachers College in Weatherford and graduated in June 1954 from Oklahoma A & M, now Oklahoma State, with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
He married
Shirley Pauline Sullivan on Aug. 17, 1950, at Anadarko. During the Korean War he served with his brother in Japan and Korea with Battery B, 158th Field Artillery Battalion, 45th Division. He was a master sergeant, serving from 1950 to 1952.
Following his military service and graduation from college, he was employed with the Oklahoma Highway Department from 1954 to 1956. He then went to work for an oil pipeline company in Tulsa and Drumright, Okla. He then went to work for the Bureau of Reclamation in 1958 working construction on the Ft. Cobb Dam in Oklahoma, the Canadian River Project and the Sanford Dam at Borger, Texas.
From May 1968 to August 1972, he served as field engineer and resident engineer for the Garrison, North Dakota Construction Field Branch during construction of the Snake Creek Pumping Plant. In March 1974, he transferred to Pierre, S.D., where he was the resident engineer for the construction field branch during the construction of the Oahe Pumping Plant.
From April 1978 until retirement in January 1987 he worked as the project construction engineer for the North Loup Division on the construction of the Calamus Dam and Irrigation project. He retired in Ord after a 30-year career.
He was a registered professional engineer in both Oklahoma and Texas. He was a member of the VFW and past member of the Ord Rotary Club. His hobbies were building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He was also involved in several central Nebraska Clubs which involved model airplanes.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randall of St. Paul, Minn., and John of Rapid City, S.D.; six grandchildren and one brother, Joe P. McClure of Asheville, N.C.
Berneice Rush
SARGENT -- Berneice B. Rush, 94, of Sargent died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at Goli Medical Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. The Rev. Samm Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery at Sargent. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Sargent United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Rush was born June 18, 1904, at Diller to Fred and Jennie (Renwick) Burch. She attended school in Bellwood and graduated from Weeping Water High School in 1921. She attended Normal Training school then taught in Southbend, Manley and seventh grade at Weeping Water. She moved to Sargent to teach in 1928 and later taught in Taylor for a total of 21 years.
She married
Fred R. Rush on Nov. 30, 1933, in Alliance.
She lived in Sargent at her home until March 1998 when she moved to Goli Medical Center.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sargent, CW PEO Chapter, United Methodist Women and Kensington.
Survivors include one daughter, Corinne Kidder of York; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wilma Miller of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and Mae Rose of Atlantic, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984.
Donna Lenz
Donna J. Lenz, 73, of Grand Island died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kleine Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Lenz was born Jan. 19, 1926, at Grand Island to George and Margaret (Langmann) Hann. She grew up and received her education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High.
She married
Ellery Lenz at Kearney. They lived in Grand Island and she was a homemaker. Mr. Lenz died in 1990.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and painting. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son, David of Grand Island; two grandchildren; and one brother, Jack Hann of Grand Island.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one son, Loren; one sister, Shirley Miller; and one brother, Jim Hann.
