Stephen Shea
Stephen J. Shea, 52, of 1915 W. Fifth died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kleine Funeral Home. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Shea was born on July 13, 1946, at Wahoo to Ray and Dorothy (Miller) Shea. He grew up and was educated there, graduating from Wahoo High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on Aug. 10, 1965, and served as a medic during Vietnam until his discharge on Aug. 1, 1969.
He married
Sandra Hager in 1973 at Fort Collins, Colo. They lived in Fort Collins, and he worked as a cement truck driver. He moved to Grand Island, was a self-employed contractor and also worked for Scott Lane Construction.
He married
Nancy Jensen on April 18, 1994, at Grand Island.
He enjoyed reading, fishing and painting.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Krystal L. Shea of Grand Island, Rae Jean Shea of Fort Collins, Colo., and Trindee Mae (Mrs. R.J.) Coleman of Loveland, Colo.; a stepson, Joseph Kemling of Grand Island; and his mother, Dorothy Schleicher of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Carroll Deaver
AURORA -- Carroll June Deaver, 88, of Aurora, formerly of Kearney, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. The Rev. Joe Scahill will officiate. Burial will be in the Elm Creek Cemetery.
The casket will be open from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mortuary.
Mrs. Deaver was born on Aug. 15, 1910, at Elm Creek to Rufy and Grace (Martin) Price. She grew up and was educated at Elm Creek, where she played for silent movies and took in ironing.
She married
Waldo Reinert Deaver on March 22, 1930, at Lexington. They lived in Kearney, where she was a cook in the public schools. Mr. Deaver died on Dec. 10, 1975. Mrs. Deaver moved to the Hamilton Manor in Aurora in 1987.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney and had been active in the Parent-Teacher Association.
Survivors include one son, James of West Point; one daughter, Deldee Jo Brown of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvel Price of Houston; and one sister, Peggy McAdams of Gothenburg.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Willadean Dodson; a stepdaughter, Betty June; four brothers and three sisters.
Earl Killinger
WOLBACH -- Earl J. Killinger, 86, of Wolbach died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Marsha Jark-Swain will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery in Wolbach.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Killinger was born on May 5, 1912, on a farm northeast of Wolbach to Mervin E. and Emma R. (Hoffman) Killinger. He attended Greeley County Rural District 27 School. Upon completing his education, he farmed with his brothers.
He married
Norma B. Zimmerle on Dec. 23, 1932, at Fullerton.
The couple lived and farmed on the Killinger home place northeast of Wolbach until their retirement in 1976, when they moved into Wolbach. Mrs. Killinger died on Oct. 19, 1991.
Mr. Killinger enjoyed woodworking and attending auctions.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach.
Survivors include four sons, Wayne of Wolbach, Gerald and Eugene, both of St. Paul, and Danny of Omaha; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Perlenfein of Mount Ayr, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, John Dean; two grandchildren; and four brothers, Merle, Ray, Elmer and Woodrow.
Kenneth Nyblom
AURORA -- Kenneth Nyblom, 82, of Aurora died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Monroe Evangelical Free Church northwest of Aurora. The Rev. Mark Dunham will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a public prayer service at 8 p.m., Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mr. Nyblom was born on March 21, 1916, in the farm home northwest of Aurora to Richard E. and Josephine (Sundberg) Nyblom. He attended District 47 School near his home.
He married
Lucille Andersen on Aug. 4, 1940, at Marquette. He lived on the family farm for 70 years and was active in farming and livestock feeding. He retired and moved to Aurora in 1987.
He enjoyed baseball and bowling.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Pam (Mrs. Brian) Danner of Gretna; three grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Palmberg of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Anderson.
Roland Ruppel
TAYLOR -- Roland S. Ruppel, 89, of Taylor died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent. The Rev. Roger Gillming will officiate. Burial will be in Madison Square cemetery west of Taylor.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Loup County Rescue Unit.
Joseph Unternahrer
CAIRO -- Joseph R. Unternahrer, 88, of Cairo died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wood River Mennonite Church. The Revs. Willis Roth and Denton Jantzi will officiate. Burial will be in the Wood River Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo.
Memorials are suggested to Gideons International or the Nebraska Children's Home in Omaha.
Mr. Unternahrer was born on Oct. 3, 1910, at Thurman, Colo., to Joseph and Magdelina (Ruby) Unternahrer. He was educated at Thurman, Colo.
He married
Katie Gascho on April 14, 1955, at Wood River. The couple moved to LaJunta, Colo., where they spent two years in voluntary service. They moved to Cairo in 1957. He worked for Claussen Construction until retiring in 1983. Mrs. Unternahrer died in December 1990.
Mr. Unternahrer was a member of the Wood River Mennonite Church and enjoyed raising flowers and gardening.
Survivors include one sister, Elizabeth Unternahrer of Wood River.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Aaron; two sisters, Catharine and Mary; a half brother, Frank; and a half sister, Lena Graber.
Berniece Wyssman
BRUNING -- Berniece M. Wyssman, 78, of Bruning died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, in Geneva.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning. The Rev. Vern Barlow will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mrs. Wyssman was born on May 26, 1920, at Covington, Okla., to William and Dora (Jordening) Bartels.
She married
Eldo A. Wyssman. Mr. Wyssman preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Duane of Bellevue and Roger of Spokane, Wash.; two daughters, Judy Wyssman of Lincoln and Gloria (Mrs. Bill) Schlachter of Grand Island; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence of Alexandria, Eldo of Western and Derald of Deming, N.M.; and five sisters, Lorene Swarthout of Beatrice, Evelyn Dougherty of Wichita, Kan., Vera Thurman of Erie, Kan., Ada Nolte of DeWitt and Mildred (Mrs. Norman) Jordening of Blue Hill.
