Darrel McKinney
ARCADIA -- Darrel McKinney, 62, of Arcadia died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Arcadia. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Aletha Petersen
BURWELL -- Aletha M. Petersen, 72, of Burwell died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. The Rev. Roger Gillming will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home at Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or Kidney Foundation.
Harold Henke
OMAHA -- Harold H. Henke, 78, of Omaha died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, at the Immanuel Medical Care Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. Visitation will be from at 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Carolyn Grraae
Carolyn R. "Kie" Grraae, 66, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer. The Rev. Robert Schilling will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery at Palmer.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Palmer's Funeral Home in Palmer.
Mrs. Grraae was born on July 7, 1932, at Belgrade to Ray and Gertrude (Nitzel) Spencer. She attended Palmer schools.
She married
Robert Beyersdorf on Oct. 1, 1949. She worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island and the cafe in St. Paul.
She enjoyed driving a truck for her father's business.
She married
Peter Grraae in 1964. Mr. Grraae died in 1967.
Mrs. Grraae was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Beyersdorf of Sarasota, Fla., and Gerald Beyersdorf of Grand Island; three daughters, Barb Rhoad of Grand Island, Jodi (Mrs. Chad) Osburn of Cairo and Diane Klein of St. Libory; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Gerald Spencer of Grand Island; and two sisters, Shirley (Mrs. Richard) Bahensky of St. Paul and Barbara Dunecacke of Lincoln.
Paul Norton
Paul Norton, 94, of Lebensraum Retirement Home died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern, Iowa. The Rev. Julie Bringelson will officiate. Mr. Norton was cremated. Burial will be in the Malvern, Iowa, Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Medical Center Hospice Program.
Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Norton was born on Jan. 12, 1904, at Malvern, Iowa, to John and Mabel (VanOrsdel) Norton. He grew up and was educated in Malvern. As a young man, he moved with his parents to South Dakota for a short time before moving back to Malvern.
He married
Mildred Scott on Nov. 23, 1926, at Glenwood, Iowa. They lived in the Malvern area and farmed until 1942, when they moved to Bellevue, where he worked at the Martin bomber plant. After the war, he became a carpenter/contractor and built homes in Bellevue until 1952, when he moved to Lincoln and built homes there.
He retired in 1970. Mrs. Norton died on Aug. 13, 1997.
Mr. Norton enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Island and had belonged to the Lions Club in Bellevue. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include one son, Merton Norton of Grand Island; three daughters, Frances (Mrs. Richard) Stall of Lakewood, Colo., Mildred (Mrs. Bill) Becker of Yuma, Ariz., and Mabel (Mrs. Norman) Clevenstine of Destin, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, H.A. Norton.
Mickey Rice
Mickey V. Rice, 33, of Grand Island died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, at his home.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church. The Rev. J.L. Jones will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in California.
There will be no visitation. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Rice was born on Nov. 26, 1964, at Bakersfield, Calif., to Jim and Arlene Rice. He graduated from high school in 1983 at Bakersfield. He was a paramedic in Bakersfield until moving to Nebraska in December 1995. He was employed by the Hall County Corrections Department.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bakersfield. He enjoyed fishing and loved being outdoors.
Survivors include his parents; one brother, Scott Rice of Bakersfield; one sister, Kaycee Wheat of Bakersfield; and a special friend, Suzanne Dvorak of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by an infant child.
Eva Bute
AURORA -- Eva Bute, 100, of Aurora died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Aurora First Christian Church. The Rev. Jay Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Higby Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of arrangements.
Verna Rolf
ALBION -- Verna Belle Rolf, 95, of Albion died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Albion. The Rev. Eric Biehl will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Rolf was born on Sept. 19, 1902, at Cedar Rapids to Charles A. and Lillie (Brower) Babbitt. She was educated in the Cedar Rapids School District and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1920. After high school, she taught at District 47 School near Cedar Rapids for five years.
She married
William Bernard Rolf on May 20, 1925, at the Methodist Church in Primrose. They farmed in the Boone County area, except for nine months when they lived in Nance County. They moved to Albion in 1955. Mr. Rolf died on Sept. 4, 1958. Mrs. Rolf moved to Harmony Homes in 1967 and lived there for 22 years. She moved to Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in 1989.
Mrs. Rolf received a 75-year membership pin from the United Methodist Church on April 4, 1994. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and was a member of Extension clubs for 25 years.
Survivors include one son, Carroll G. Rolf of Elkhorn; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bessie Lowe of Emerson, Iowa.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte White; two sons, Dean and Merlin; one great-great-granddaughter; four brothers, George, Butch, Vic and Glen Babbitt; and six sisters, Gertrude Babbitt, Ruth Kolm, Pearl Smith, Grace Brown, Mabel Smith and Opal Watts.
