Shiloh Cobb
NEWCASTLE, Wyo. -- Shiloh Nicholas Cobb, 18, of Newcastle, Wyo., died Aug. 16, 1998, at Rapid City, S.D., Regional Hospital of injuries received in a motorcycle accident Aug. 9 north of Newcastle.
Services were on Aug. 19 at Crouch Auditorium. The Rev. Trish Underberg officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Worden Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Newcastle High School students.
Mr. Cobb was born on Sept. 27, 1979, at Sheridan, Wyo., to Doug and Sharon (O'Brien) Cobb. He was a 1998 graduate of Newcastle High School and had planned to attend Black Hills State University at Spearfish, S.D., majoring in technology. He had worked at the Fountain Motor Inn and Crystal Park in addition to having numerous lawn jobs.
He was a member of the National Honor Society and was a delegate to the Wyoming American Legion Boys State. He participated in wrestling, soccer, band, football and track.
He liked sports, music and cars.
Survivors include one brother, Shoshone Douglas Cobb of Fremont; one sister, Sasha Jean Cobb of Newcastle; and his maternal grandmother, Velma O'Brien of Grand Island.
'Billie' Gardner
CASPER, Wyo. -- Ardith "Billie" Gardner, 81, of Casper, Wyo., formerly of Grand Island, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center after an extended illness.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery. The Rev. Marvin Skogen will officiate.
Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory were in charge of the cremation.
Memorials are suggested to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wyoming.
Mrs. Gardner was born on Oct. 13, 1916, in Grand Island to William T. and Anna (Dohm) Detweiler. She attended Grand Island schools and moved in 1942 to Cheyenne, where she worked at Fort Warren Air Force Base.
After living in Sheridan and Buffalo, the family moved to Casper in 1956. She went to work for the Natrona County Hospital in May 1957 as the purchasing agent and retired in 1984.
She married
Leon "Tony" Gardner on Jan. 23, 1937, in Nelson. Mr. Gardner died in 1963.
Survivors include one son, Richard D. Gardner of Casper; one grandson; two great-grandsons; and one brother, Donald L. Detweiler of Grand Island.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda; one brother, Jim, and two stepbrothers, Wallace and Merwyn.
Howard Nelsen
LOVELAND, Colo. -- Howard Ernest Nelsen, 96, of Loveland, Colo., formerly of St. Paul, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at Loveland Good Samaritan Village Health Care.
Private family services have been conducted. Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home of Loveland, Colo., was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Loveland Good Samaritan Village Memorial Fund or the donor's choice.
Mr. Nelsen was born on June 14, 1902, at St. Paul to Thorwald J. and Kristine B. (Kjeldsen) Nelsen. He graduated from St. Paul High School and the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a bachelor's degree.
He taught high school science for two years in Nebraska and two years in Hawaii. He returned to college to receive his master's degree in physics at the University of Wisconsin.
Mr. Nelsen moved to Chicago in 1940 to work for Western Electric as an electrical engineer.
While in Chicago, he married
Ann M. Bain on June 15, 1940. They moved in 1950 to Indianapolis, where he continued to work for Western Electric until his retirement in 1967.
They moved to Fort Collins, Colo., in 1971, to Sun City, Ariz., in 1976 and to Loveland in 1998.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fly fishing, woodworking and photography.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kathleen (Mrs. Ronald) Cotton of Estes Park, Colo.; two sons, Roger B. Nelsen of Portland, Ore., and Mark J. Nelsen of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Edna E. Nelsen, Alyce N. Paul and Lillian Anderson, all of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Nelsen; and two sisters, Florence Arnold and Helen Nelsen.
Esther Olsen
Esther Olsen, 91, of Grand Island died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Vern Rice will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Julius Peters
Julius Peters, 94, a resident of Wedgewood Care Center died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Wedgewood.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Peters was born on June 19, 1904, in Grand Island to Julius and Amelia (Seier) Peters. He attended District 80 School at Grand Island.
He married
Marie Seaman on April 4, 1939, in Grand Island. He was a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement. Mrs. Peters died on July 24, 1981. Mr. Peters had been a resident at Riverside Lodge and the Wedgewood Care Center for the past seven years.
He was a member of the Platt-Duetsche and the Eagles.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Clarence Austin
STROMSBURG -- Clarence M. Austin, 92, of Stromsburg died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg. The Rev. Jeffery Thurman will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg.

Floyd 'Bud' Seeber
HASTINGS -- Floyd "Bud" Seeber, 74, of Hastings died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, in Hastings.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. The Rev. Mark Cadenbach will officiate. Burial will be in the Hayestown cemetery near Boelus.
Visitation will be prior to services Friday.
Mr. Seeber was born on Aug. 1, 1924, in Boelus to Fred and Anna (Sternberg) Seeber. He attended school in Boelus. He went to work for the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island before joining the Navy. He served in World War II.
Survivors include two sisters, Sylvia Lemburg of Boelus and Marilyn Robertson of Adams.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
