PALMER -- Elizabeth A. Meyer, 95, of Palmer died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending at Palmer Funeral Home in Palmer.
Barbara Worm
BURWELL -- Barbara J. Worm, 51, of Burwell died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at her home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. The Rev. Roger Gillming will officiate. Burial will be in Kent cemetery near Taylor.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church.
Frances Jenkins
Frances L. Jenkins, 86, of Grand Island died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at her home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Harold Kurtenbach will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Jenkins was born on Jan. 15, 1912, at Grand Island to Guy and Gertrude (Reed) Bish. She was raised by Earl and Mamie (Curry) Ramsey. She was educated in the rural Sutherland School and the Grand Island Public Schools.
She married
Denzil C. Jenkins on July 17, 1928, at Hastings. The couple lived in Grand Island.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Union Pacific Old-timers, NARVE and the Veterans Railway Retirees.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Jackie (Mrs. Roland) Curd of Chadron, Joan (Mrs. Woody) Galusha of Western Grove, Ark., and Jill Chambers and Jenny Richardson, both of Grand Island; 19 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Burton of Ogallala and Billie Hamer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and one brother, Bob Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, five sisters and three brothers.
'Trudy' Adams
AURORA -- Gertrude "Trudy" Adams, 91, of Aurora died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ. Cathy Allen will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mrs. Adams was born on Nov. 4, 1906, at Utica to Dr. Edward and Sarah (Harper) Rowe. She grew up in Lincoln, attended Lincoln Public Schools and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor of fine arts degree.
She married
Charles F. Adams on Sept. 10, 1930, at Lincoln. They lived in Aurora, where he was an attorney. Mr. Adams died on April 17, 1980. Mrs. Adams entered the Hamilton Manor in Aurora on Feb. 10, 1992.
She was a member of the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ, belonged to PEO, the Aurora Chapter of the Eastern Star and Delta Gamma sorority.
Survivors include one son, the Rev. James R. Adams of Cambridge, Mass.; one daughter, Ruth Ciranni of San Mateo, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Jane Gilliland.
June Albin
BROKEN BOW -- Dona June Albin, 71, of Broken Bow died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at her home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Rick Ensrud will officiate. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Albin was born on June 11, 1927, in Pawnee City to Chauncey Odell and Opal Maude Dusenbery. She lived in Pawnee City. She helped run the family's restaurant and worked as a waitress there until graduating from Pawnee City High School in 1945.
She then went to the Lincoln School of Commerce and worked as a secretary while living with her aunt and uncle in Lincoln.
She married
Don Albin on Sept. 21, 1947. They lived in Lincoln until 1959, when the family moved to Broken Bow to begin a new life on the ranch.
She was a charter member of the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Christian Women's Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary.
She loved to play bridge and was involved with numerous bridge clubs and tournaments.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Terri (Mrs. Ron) Horton of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jan (Mrs. Mike) Barefield of Madison, Ala.; two sons, Roger Albin of Broken Bow and Dr. Jim Albin of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren; and one brother, H.R. "Jiggs" Dusenbery of Beatrice.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Delphine.
Roy Chaney
GILTNER -- Roy Douglas Chaney, 77, of Giltner died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, near Rawlins, Wyo., as a result of a traffic accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. The Rev. Dwight DeLaet will officiate. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Mr. Chaney was born on Feb. 22, 1921, at Giltner to Edwin and Emma (Douglas) Chaney. He grew up and was educated at Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School in 1938. Following graduation, he worked on the family farm and later worked on a dairy farm in Ohio.
He married
Dorothy Ruebsamen on June 14, 1940, at Harvard. They farmed in Ohio, and he attended welding school. He worked at a shipyard in Lorain, Ohio, and welded for Sun Oil Co. The family moved back to Giltner in 1944, and he served in the U.S. Navy from March 1, 1945, to April 16, 1946.
After his discharge, he farmed in Clay County and operated a Grade A Dairy. He began trucking to California in 1953. They moved back to Giltner in 1958. He trucked from California to Minnesota and Wisconsin for 45 years.
He was a charter member of Harvard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5539 and was a lifetime member of the post. He was also a member of the Doniphan American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Edwin R. of Giltner; two daughters, Rosalie Chaney of Giltner and Beverly Chaney of Omaha; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Lois McCarty and Leta Bitterman, both of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Earl, Arnold, Allen and Donal.
William Drake
HALSEY -- William Jean Drake, 66, of Halsey died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Linda Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National cemetery at Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to the donor's choice.
Mr. Drake was born on Nov. 10, 1931, at Comstock to Hugh C. and Lillie V. (Snyder) Drake. He attended school in Comstock.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to February 1955 and in the Army Reserve and National Guard from May 1958 to February 1966.
He married
Rita Huffman in February 1956 at Milburn.
He married
Erma (Wilson) Hansen on April 19, 1968, in Buffalo City. They lived in Gibbon until 1969, when they moved to Halsey.
Mr. Drake drove a truck until 1976, when he went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired from the railroad in 1992.
He was a member of American Legion Post 0323 of Brewster and was a Master Mason of Lodge 148 A.F. and A.M.
Survivors include three sons, J. Scott Drake of Loveland, Colo., Tracy Drake of Hayward, Wis., and David Schneider of Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Tonya Dixon of Colorado Springs, Colo., Regina Watson of Lexington and Pamela Kracht of Rockwall, Texas; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Wilma Mattox of Wyoming, Iowa, Dorothy Manning of Arcadia, Jurene Holmes of Milburn, Joyce Dickman of Halsey and Ella Cross of Jacksonville, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma; one son, two brothers and one sister.
