Harry Mattson
CHAPMAN -- Harry Thomas Mattson, 87, of Chapman died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapman Baptist Church with the Revs. Lloyd Boyce and Dennison Conner officiating. Burial will be in the Chapman Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the Merrick Foundation.
Mr. Mattson was born on Dec. 9, 1910, at the family farm in Merrick County to Edward and Anna (Nelson) Mattson. He attended District 3 School and graduated from Central City High School in 1930.
He married
Connie Ruben on June 14, 1939, at the Baptist Church in Chapman. They farmed in the Chapman area, and Mr. Mattson was still helping at the farm at the time of his death.
Mr. Mattson was a member of the Baptist Church in Chapman, where he had served as treasurer for more than 25 years. He served on the Chapman Township Board as justice of the peace, was a 4-H leader, Boy Scout leader and a 50-year member of Friendship Lodge 239 of the Masonic Lodge in Chapman. He was an avid gardener and was well known for his flowers.
He is survived by his wife, of Chapman; two sons, Thomas Mattson of Chapman and Richard Mattson of Manhattan, Kan.; one daughter, Jeanne (Mrs. Donn) Carlson of Kearney; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Gerald Mattson of Central City and Robert Mattson of New York.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Mattson.
Albert Rice
HASTINGS -- Albert J. Rice, 95, of Hastings died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Wanda Biltoft
SUPERIOR -- Wanda Biltoft, 80, of Superior died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior. The Revs. Harold Backus and Royce Buchtel will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Creek cemetery at Ruskin.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Biltoft was born on March 23, 1918, on a farm near Davenport to Virgil and Mona (Allen) Lowery. She attended County Line country school.
She married
Oscar Biltoft on Dec. 11, 1937, in Belleville, Kan. They lived and farmed in the Ruskin and Oak areas for many years and moved to Superior to retire.
She was a past member of the Ruskin Extension Club and president of the Superior Senior Center. She loved to play cards and spend time at the Senior Center.
She is survived by one son, Larry Biltoft of Ruskin; four daughters, Nola (Mrs. Jim) McCartney of Odell, Connie Nickel and Linda (Mrs. Gilbert) Poppe, both of St. Paul, and Carol (Mrs. Steve) Yost of Clay Center; 12 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rayoma (Mrs. Arthur) Sykes of Davenport and Doris (Mrs. Edgar) Degner of Deshler; and one brother, Wendell of Davenport.
Her husband died on Oct. 18, 1991. She also was preceded in death by a son, Gerald; and a grandson.
Elvera Rohman
NORTH PLATTE -- Elvera Rohman, 86, of North Platte, formerly of St. Paul, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at North Platte.
Services are pending at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Lena Sisneros
GOTHENBURG -- Lena Sisneros, 66, of Gothenburg died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Gothenburg. The Rev. Donald O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sisneros was born on April 20, 1932, in Shoemaker, N.M., to Jose and Servana (Romero) Morales. She grew up in New Mexico.
She married
Paul Sisernos on Jan. 5, 1955, at Wagon Mound, N.M. They moved to the Gothenburg area in 1966. She worked at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital from 1972 until the time of her death. Mr. Sisneros died on March 6, 1989.
Mrs. Sisneros was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Gothenburg. She enjoyed sewing.
Survivors include two sons, Anthony of Omaha and Eppie of Gothenburg; thee daughters, Carmen (Mrs. Steve) Kramer of Grand Island, Carol (Mrs. Gary) Darling of Plano, Texas, and Pearl (Mrs. Glenn) Johnson of Scottsbluff; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Felix Amadello and Amadello Morales, both of Valmora, N.M.; and two sisters, Lucy Pacheco of Trujillo, N.M., and Eva Atchison of Topeka, Kan.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Corinna Cave.
Norman Schleichardt
Norman F. Schleichardt, 70, of 1819 S. Shady Bend Road, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Lonnie Logan will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Schleichardt was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Grand Island to Fred and Alyce (Husman) Schleichardt. He attended school in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1946.
He married
Lorraine Westphal on Nov. 11, 1949, in Grand Island. He was employed as a steam fitter for Local No. 464 out of Omaha for 35 years. He retired in 1990.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and welding.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Platte-Duetsche and the Eagles Club in Lexington.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Tom of Chapman; two daughters, Kay Peterson of Spring, Texas, and Cindy (Mrs. Don) Weddington of Central City, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Don.
Barbara Augustyn
LOUP CITY - Barbara C. Augustyn, 85, of Loup City died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at Rose Lane home in Loup City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Andrew M. Augustyn will officiate. Miss Augustyn donated her body to Creighton University in Omaha.
Memorials are suggested to Mother Theresa of the Poor or the family's choice.
Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Augustyn was born Sept. 20, 1912, near Loup City to John and Mary (Gzehoviak) Augustyn. She attended rural school District No. 31, known as the Dead Horse School. She also attended St. Michael's Parochial School in Tarnov. Upon completing her education in February 1939, she moved to Denver, where she did various types of work, including housework, serving as a teller at a Savings and Loan and operating a bookkeeping machine at Elitch Gardens.
In 1957 she went to work at the Central Bank and Trust, where she worked for 20 years before retiring in April 1977. At that time she moved back to Loup City where she lived at Westside Park. Due to failing health she entered Rose Lane Home in February 1993.
She enjoyed traveling before her retirement, loved flowers and was an avid sports fan.
She was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women and the Rosary Sodality.
Survivors include three brothers, Stephen Augustyn of Bellevue, Alfonso Augustyn of Loup City and the Rev. Andrew M. Augustyn of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by seven sisters, Della Jarowski, Monica Silva, Mary Golka, Nora McCarville, Kathryn Kaminski, Anna Sok and Helen Toczek and four brothers, Joseph, Leo, John and Edward Augustyn.
