'Toby' Tobiassen
FRANKLIN -- Tobias B. Tobiassen, 82, of Franklin died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin. The Rev. Bruce Crabtree will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin and from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mr. Tobiassen was born June 27, 1916, on a farm south of Macon to Ben and Ella (Jelken) Tobiassen. He attended School District No. 67 and attended Franklin High School for two years when he had to quit school to help his father on the farm.
He married
Edna Bunger on June 26, 1938, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church near Hildreth. They lived on the farm south of Macon until retiring in 1991 when they moved into Franklin.
He was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin where he held several offices. He served on the School District No. 67 school board for several years. He served on the CO-OP Board for 11 years, was a member of the Lions Club at Macon, was an avid trap shooter and was a member of the American Trap Shooting Association.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Eunice Schneider of Aurora, Evelyn Detlefsen of Franklin and Mary Scheuneman of Red Cloud; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
'Billy' Wilcox
ANSELMO -- William "Billy" Wilcox, 38, of Anselmo died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at the Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Merna Cemetery. The Rev. Doug Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Victoria Springs Park or the family.
Barbara Ens
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -- Barbara Ens, 60, of Baldwin City, Kan.. died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Genoa United Methodist Church. The Rev. Al Seadore will officiate. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Anson Funeral Home in Genoa.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Ens was born Nov. 19, 1937, in Hamilton, Kan., to Arthur and Eva (McCoy) Phillips. She attended school in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School.
She married
Ted Ens on July 15, 1965. The couple traveled various towns throughout the country according to her husband's construction employment.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Pam (Mrs. Al) Dubas of Genoa and Teresa Crawford of Derby, Kan.; three sons, Ron Robinson of Columbus, Jeff Robinson of Hot Springs, S.D., and Troy Ens of Firth; one brother, Leonard Swan of Tyler, Texas; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Bill and Marvin.
'Stubbs' Hoes
BRAZORIA, Texas -- Gerald Willis "Stubbs" Hoes, 56, of Brazoria, Texas died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1998 at Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Wild Peach Community Church. The Rev. Earl Breazeale will officiate. Burial will be in the Brazoria Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria.
Mr. Hoes had served in the United States Navy.
Survivors include one son, Jeff; five daughters, Kelly (Mrs. Paul) Guilbeaux of Gilchrist, Texas, Robin (Mrs. Ralph) Cook of West Columbia, Debora Hoes of Sargent, Dana (Mrs. Robert) Lebeuf of Clay Center, Kan., Dona Hoes of Brazoria; one brother, Larry of Grand Island; one sister, Carolyn (Mrs. Don) Lutrell of Las Vegas; and 10 grandchildren.
Ervin Ostermeier
Ervin O. Ostermeier, 80, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Douglas Stensby will officiate. Mr. Ostermeier was cremated, and there will be no visitation.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ostermeier was born on Aug. 4, 1918, at Grand Island to Ernest and Marie (Buchholtz) Ostermeier. He grew up on the family farm in rural Hall County, attended District 7 School and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. After graduating, he farmed north of Grand Island.
Survivors include one brother, Clarence Ostermeier of Grand Island; and four sisters, Olga "Peg" Reed and Satie Olsen, both of Grand Island, Etta Henderson of Harlingen, Texas, and Elsie Frauen of Worms.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Ernest and Albert.
Arlone Margritz
RAVENNA -- Arlone Margritz, 71, of Ravenna died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at Richard H. Young Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. The Rev. Mark Cadenbach will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Center.
Mrs. Margritz was born on July 15, 1927, in Hazard to Fred and Beatrice (Zimmer) Rasmussen. She was educated in Hazard and was a graduate of Hazard High School.
She married
Robert Margritz in 1947 at Grand Island. The couple lived on a farm near Ravenna. She had worked as a secretary for a Ravenna veterinarian. Mr. Margritz died on Jan. 24, 1971.
Survivors include one daughter, Lynn Wilkeson of Bixby, Okla.; three sons, Mike of Arlington, Texas, Rex of Phoenix and Rick of Litchfield; four grandchildren; one brother, Wendell Rasmussen of Hazard; and four sisters, Winona Zeller of Ravenna, Betty Zoucha of Grand Island, Doris Nickman of Pleasanton and Dolores Wheeler of Delta, Colo.
Merritt DeCamp
NELIGH -- Merritt DeCamp, 84, of Neligh died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Congregational Church in Neligh. The Rev. Ray Avidano will officiate.
His body was donated to the Nebraska Anatomical Board. There will be no visitation. Beyer Funeral Home of Neligh is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include four sons, James DeCamp of Lincoln, Stephen DeCamp of St. Paul, Frank DeCamp of Cochise, Ariz., and Thomas DeCamp of Neligh; a daughter, Mary DeCamp of Neligh; two brothers, Marcus and Charles of Neligh; and a sister, Josephine Baltensperger of Bushnell.
Michael Lewandowski
Michael J. Lewandowski, 70, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Harold Kurtenbach will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Lewandowski was born on Jan. 30, 1928, on a farm near Ashton to Walter and Tekla (Kaminski) Lewandowski. He graduated from Loup City High School in 1945. He worked on the family farm and then worked in construction in the Omaha area. He also worked for Master Craft Furniture for a short time.
He entered the U.S. Army in February 1951 and served in the telecommunication field. Upon his discharge in January 1953, he went to work for Northwestern Bell as an installer/repairman. He retired from U S West Communications in 1990 after 37 years with the company.
He married
Mary Ann Franssen on Feb. 16, 1957, at St. James' Catholic Church in Kearney.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, where he served as a eucharistic minister, sang with the funeral choir and brought communion to the homebound. He was also active in the Tuesday evening prayer group and the Saturday morning men's fellowship. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Telephone Pioneers.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Michelle Grubbs of Grand Island, Marcie (Mrs. Pete) Stokman of Crosby, Minn., Sharon (Mrs. Steve) Doran of Omaha, Kristi (Mrs. Mike) Merck of Hutchinson, Minn., and Joanie (Mrs. Scott) Lang of Anchorage, Alaska; two sons, Paul Lewandowski of Chicago and Tom Lewandowski of St. Paul; 22 grandchildren; three brothers, Al Lewandowski of Grand Island, his identical twin brother, Gene Lewandowski of Loup City, and Jim Lewandowski of Tracy, Calif.; and three sisters, Margaret Kowalski of Loup City, Rita Gembala of Kearney and Annette Mendyk of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by one grandson; three brothers, Louis, Andy and Ralph Lewandowski; and one sister, Sally Golka.
