Lyle Gearhart
GIBBON -- Lyle S. Gearhart, 78, of Gibbon died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gibbon Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Flynn officiating. Burial will be in the Gibbon Riverside cemetery with military graveside rites by Gibbon American Legion Post 310.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon.
Memorials are suggested to the Gibbon emergency unit.
Mr. Gearhart was born on Feb. 5, 1920, in Kenesaw to Clayton and Edna (Hardon) Gearhart. He grew up on a farm south of Gibbon and attended Gibbon schools. He served in the U.S. Marines in the Pacific Islands during World War II.
He married
Mary Lucille Camp on Dec. 9, 1944, in San Francisco. They lived in California for two years before moving to Grand Island. They moved to Dallas, where he worked for the next 17 years as a heavy equipment operator and foreman for Texas Bitulithie Construction. They moved to Jacksonville, Fla., when they retired and moved back to Grand Island in 1991. Mrs. Gearhart died in January 1997. Mr. Gearhart moved to Gibbon later that year.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Island, Elks Lodge and VFW in Grand Island and Gibbon American Legion Post 310.
Survivors include two sons, Lyle Dean of Oceanside, Calif., and Michael of Irving, Texas; one daughter, Marylynn (Mrs. Gary) Ribble of Irving, Texas; six grandchildren; and one brother, Elwyn of Orange, Texas.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
'Terry' Lindsey
BURWELL -- Terrance "Terry" Lindsey, 69, of Burwell died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. The Rev. Roger Gillming will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Lindsey was born on Sept. 30, 1928, at Burwell to Frank and Amanda (Neumeyer) Lindsey.
He married
Isla Scofield on June 2, 1949, in St. Paul. He lived in the Burwell and Taylor area all his life. He worked as a carpenter with Lacey's Contractors. He also worked for Anderson Plumbing and Heating and drove a truck for FWT Transport.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War.
He enjoyed playing cards and fishing.
Survivors include his wife and one brother, Arden Lindsey of Arcadia, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one son, David.
Charles Loughmiller
JONESBORO, Ga. -- Charles William "Billy" Loughmiller, 77, formerly of Stone Mountain, Ga., died July 18, 1998, at Arrowhead Nursing Home in Atlanta.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Chapman Cemetery. The Rev. Lloyd Boyce of Chapman will officiate.
Mr. Loughmiller was born Dec. 20, 1920 in Atlanta, Ga. to Frank D. and Catherine L. Loughmiller.
He never married. he worked at the Civilian Construction Corp in the 1930's and later became a self employed carpenter.
Survivors include one sister, Jeannette LaRue of Grand Island and one brother, Frank DE. Loughmiller Jr. of North Miami, Fla.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dorothy.
Veronica Maxwell
PETALUMA, Calif. -- Veronica Maxwell, 70, of Petaluma, Calif., formerly of Greeley, died Aug. 1, 1998, at her home. She had been ill the past year.
Services were on Saturday at St. James' Church in Petaluma. The Rev. Joe Alzugary officiated. Burial was in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Maxwell was born on June 9, 1928, in Greeley to John P. and Catherine E. (Killeen) Smith. She attended District 54 School and graduated in 1945 from Sacred Heart High School in Greeley. After graduation, she moved to Omaha, where she worked as a secretary.
She married
Charles D. Hoffman on June 19, 1948, in Omaha. They moved to California, where she worked for a number of years. They later moved to Petaluma, and she became a legal secretary. She retired in 1993. Mr. Huffman died in 1983.
She later married
Glenn Maxwell.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn; a daughter, Christine Huffman of Grand Island; and a sister, Rita Jacobsen of Grand Island.
Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Owen, John and an infant, Gerald; and two sisters, Kathleen Goudy and Leone Smith.
'Pop' Wallick
AUGUSTA, Kan. -- Jess J. "Pop" Wallick, 82, of Augusta, Kan., died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.
Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rose Hill cemetery in Albion. The Rev. Brian Bergum will officiate.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wallick was born on Aug. 20, 1915, at Albion to John and Minnie Wallick.
He served with the U.S. Army from June 1942 to 1945 and was involved with the Pacific campaign on the Fiji Islands and Guadalcanal.
He married
Arlene Belgum on June 10, 1945, in Albion. He retired in December 1970 as a modification mechanic. After his retirement, he was a house painter in the Augusta, Kan., area until his death.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Denny of Augusta; three step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; one sister, Shirley (Mrs. Ron) Mahaffey of Camp Verde, Ariz.; and one brother, Dana of Kent, Wash.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dougie; three sisters; and three brothers.
Edith Felske
Edith M. Felske, 88, of 614 W. Ninth died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at Park Place Nursing Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Martin Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

Morris Kauk
Morris M. Kauk, 75, of Grand Island died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at his home.
Services are pending at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Marvel Stahl
Marvel L. Stahl, 72, of Grand Island died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stahl was born on July 22, 1926, in Grand Island to Ernest and Gertrude (Roth) Pollock. She grew up and was educated in Grand Island.
She married
Donald Stahl on Aug. 6, 1950, in Grand Island. Mrs. Stahl worked as a checker in the meat departments of Safeway, Jack and Jill and Skagway for 30 years. She retired in 1981.
Mrs. Stahl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies' Aide. She enjoyed fishing, ceramics, gardening, camping and playing cards.
Survivors include a son, William Stahl of Grand Island; a daughter, Pamela Stahl Holmes of Grand Island; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter; two brothers, Willis Pollock and Leonard Pollock; and two sisters, Josephine Orvis and an infant sister.
