Irvin Smith
OMAHA -- Irvin H. Smith, 86, of Omaha died Friday, April 24, 1998, in Omaha.
Services were on Monday at Rockbrook United Methodist Church. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery in Omaha.
Crosby-Kunold-Burket-Swanson-Golden Funeral Home in Omaha was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith was born on April 3, 1912, in Clay Center, Kan. He was retired assistant general manager of Omaha Public Power District.
He was a longtime member of the Rockbrook United Methodist Church and Lions Club. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a retired director of Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; one son, Bruce of Grand Island; three daughters, Nancee (Mrs. John) Burbank of Carrington, N.D., Barbara (Mrs. Tom) Kimer of Minneapolis and Susan (Mrs. David) Livingston of Blythe, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and one sister.
Amelia Kipp
Amelia L. Kipp, 92, of Grand Island, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at the Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Litchfield cemetery in Litchfield. The Rev. Heidi Revelo will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested at the family's choice.
Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Kipp was born on March 1, 1906, on a farm southwest of Litchfield to Adolph and Mary (Meller) Kipp. She attended Sherman County rural schools in the Litchfield area.
After completing her education, she worked as a waitress in Ansley, Loup City, Broken Bow, Grand Island and Denver. In 1943, she moved to San Francisco where she continued to work as a waitress for many years.
In June 1990, she returned to Grand Island and lived at the Yancey Apartments. She moved to Lebensraun retirement home in April 1991 and on Dec. 31, 1996, she entered the Tiffany Square Care Center where she lived the rest of her life.
She was a member of the Waitress Union of San Francisco.
Survivors include one sister, Anna Miller of Loup City.
She was preceded by three brothers, Adolph, Edward and William Kipp and three sisters, Elizabeth Hughes, Bertha Chamberlin and Lena McKinney.
'Susy' Cunningham
ALBION -- Luella "Susy" Mae Cunningham, 74, of Albion, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion. The Rev. Brian Bergum and Intern Annette Minderman will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Dale Sautter
KEARNEY -- Dale D. Sautter, 73, of Kearney and former Buffalo County sheriff, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Kearney. The Rev. Ron Roemmich will officiate. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at O'Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home in Kearney and one hour prior to service time at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Hospice or to the church's building fund.
Lenora Voss
CAIRO -- Lenora E. Voss, 86, of Cairo, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Community Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Cairo Senior Center.
Mrs. Voss was born Aug. 7, 1911, to Albert and Anonia (Prochaska) Cole on a farm southwest of Cairo. She attended District No. 70 school. She worked as a telephone operator in Cairo.
She married
Joseph W. Voss on Aug. 20, 1932, in Grand Island. The couple then moved to Grand Island in 1933, living there until they moved to the farm on 130th Road in 1967.
She worked at Jake's Bakery, Jack and Jill grocery store and the Hall County Courthouse until she retired in 1977 to help her husband with farming until his death on March 25, 1978.
She was a charter member of Eagles No. 378 auxiliary in Grand Island. She served on the Cairo Senior Center Advisory Council for many years. She enjoyed flowers and playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include two sons, Duane and David, both of Cairo; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Donald D. Voss and one sister, Lucille Lamb.
Eloise Ewoldt
Eloise Ewoldt, 69, of 604 N. White died Friday, April 24, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joel Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Kleine Funeral Home from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association.
Miss Ewoldt was born May 17, 1928, in rural Hall County to Herman and Matilda (Krueger) Ewoldt. She received her education at District 3, Grand Island. She stayed on the family farm and took care of her parents for many years. She liked working with crafts. She baby-sat for many years and she also enjoyed assembly end tables as a hobby.
Miss Ewoldt was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church since 1951 and was active in the Senior's Ministry at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
She is survived by three sisters, Lillian and her son, Robert, of Grand Island, were were the caregivers and helped Miss Ewoldt with many daily tasks, Maxine (Mrs. Mel) Eggleston of San Clemente, Calif., and Lorraine Bernhart of Wichita, Kan.; and a brother, Daniel Ewoldt of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Rudolph and Edwin, and two sisters, Helen and Celia.
Deanna Olson
Deanna "De" Olson, 53, of Grand Island died Friday, April 24, 1998, at the Kearney County Hospital in Minden.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege with the Rev. Steve Billington officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in her memory.
Mrs. Olson was born Jan. 19, 1945, in Holdrege to Elton and Mavis (Getty) Larson. She attended school in Holdrege and graduated from Holdrege High School in 1963. She attended a beauty school for one year.
She married
Eddie R. Olson in 1965. The couple had two sons. She worked on the farm for about 16 years. She moved to Grand Island in 1991. She was employed by Midwest Franchise Corporation at the time of her death.
She was a past member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Minden and a present member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
Survivors include two sons. W. Tragg Olson of Holdrege and Pete Olson of Hastings; her parents, Elton and Mavis Larson of Axtell; a sister, Sharon (Mrs. Gary) Cederburg of Minden; and a brother, Jeffery Larson of Minden.
