Hunter Mullen
HASTINGS -- Hunter Mullen Jr., 71, of Hastings died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery in Hastings.
Memorials are suggested to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1346.
Mr. Mullen was born on Jan. 2, 1927, in Hastings to Hunter Sr. and Helen Mae (Ellis) Mullen. He attended Hastings High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Marines.
He married
Zephree Harris. Mrs. Mullen died on Oct. 15, 1972. Mr. Mullen worked for Great Plains Packing Co. until retiring in 1989. He was a lifelong Hastings resident.
He was a member of VFW Post 1346.
Survivors include four daughters, JoAnn (Mrs. Mike) Payne, Inez (Mrs. William) Hinrichs, Teresa Mullen and Laurie Levering, all of Hastings; two sons, Donald Mullen of Hastings and Hunter III of Grand Island; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Helen Mae Mullen of Philadelphia, Faye Mullen of Hastings, Marceline (Mrs. George) Armstrong of Maywood, Ill., Ada Robinson of Lincoln and Eleanor Shanks of Chicago; and three brothers, Rodney and Charles Mullen, both of Omaha, and Simuel Mullen of Chicago.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
Audra Shively
CLARKS -- Audra Shively, 31, of Clarks died Monday, April 13, 1998, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Services are pending at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mary Kay Johnson
LINCOLN -- Mary Kay Johnson, 48, of Lincoln died March 9, 1998, at her home.
Graveside memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Greenwood cemetery in York.
Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., or to the First Presbyterian Church in York.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1949, at Fargo, N.D., to Elmer and Shirley (Keil) Johnson.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York.
Survivors include her father, of York; and two sisters, Marlene Gates of Bothell, Wash., and Marcia Boysen of Grand Island
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Terry Jarman
LEWISTON, Idaho -- Terry Ardean Jarman, 43, of Lewiston, Idaho, formerly of St. Paul, died of cancer Thursday, April 9, 1998, at St. Joseph's Regional Center in Lewiston, Idaho.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Mr. Jarman was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Jarman was born on July 14, 1954, at Grand Island to Dale Dean and Lois Marie (Reimers) Jarman. He grew up and attended high school in St. Paul.
He married
Mary L.P. Meyer in 1973. He moved to Clarkston, Wash., in 1997. He was a self-employed painter and carpenter.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, bowling, singing karaoke and playing pool.
Survivors include three daughters, Jenny Lynn Rubek of Ayr, Stephanie Luella Pearl Jarman of Trumbull and Danielle Jarman of Hastings; three sons, Clint Arlan Jarman of Ravenna, Casey Clarence Jarman of Trumbull and Travis Jarman of Hastings; three grandchildren; his stepfather and mother, Robert and Lois Long of Clarkston, Wash.; two sisters, Deana Hancock of St. Paul and Debra Farrell of Clarkston, Wash.; one brother, Richard Jarman of St. Paul; and a special friend, Chastity Clay of Clarkston, Wash.
Theresa Semm
KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Theresa Anna Semm, 86, of Kingman, Ariz., formerly of Grand Island, died March 16, 1998, in Kingman, Ariz.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Services were on March 20 in Kingman.
Mrs. Semm was born on March 30, 1911, in Grand Island to August and Emma (Springsguth) Stuhr.
She married
Russell Semm on Feb. 18, 1929, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Hastings until 1977 and in Grand Island until 1981, when they moved to Kingman, Ariz.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist church in Grand Island.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil Semm and Wes Semm, both of Kingman, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Kathleen White of Grand Island and Florence Shelter of Nesa, Ore.
Her husband died in 1994. She also was preceded in death by one son, Gordon; three sisters and two brothers.
Elaine Rask
Elaine K. Rask, 42, of Grand Island died Friday, April 10, 1998, at the Seward Memorial Hospital in Seward, Neb.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. William Voelker will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Rask was born Sept. 21, 1955, at Oxford to Ivan and Eula Mae (Fisher) Robeson. She grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School in 1973. She attended Grand Island Business College in Grand Island.
She married
Bruce Rask on Dec. 30, 1978, in Oxford. The couple moved to Grand Island, where Mrs. Rask worked at St. Francis Medical Center and was a partner with her husband in Rask Roofing and Insulation.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband; a brother, Leon Robeson of Edison; and stepfather and mother, Ralph and Eula Mae Best of Oxford.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Gale Robeson.
Glenn 'Tad' Furby
FULLERTON -- Glenn Duane Furby, 79, of Fullerton died Friday, April 10, 1998, at the Litzenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Revs. George McQuinn and Jim Howland will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home.
Mr. Furby was born on Jan. 1, 1919, at Genoa to Roy and Emma (Lutzke) Furby. He attended grade school at Genoa country schools.
He married
Arnette Brider on Feb. 19, 1941, at Albion. She died in 1990.
The couple lived in Nance County and moved to Fullerton in 1963. He worked for two Fullerton doctors until he started Fruby Tree Service with his son, Terry. He later helped his grandson, Rusty, after he sold his business to him.
He moved into the Fulleton Manor in 1994, where he lived until the time of his death.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include one daughter, Micki Sensening of Fullerton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Vossberg of Loveland, Colo., and Mildred Ferris of Holdrege; and one brother, Walter Furby of Fullerton.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Terry; two brothers, Ralph Furby and Marvin Furby; and one grandchild.
